I don't know if these are your personal views about environmentalists, or the views of your producers, but I disagree. These "environmentalists" couldn't care less about the planet. They use fossil fuels and they destroy the environment just as much as everybody else. In fact, its typically these people that cannot exist without civilization's survival spaces that we know as cities, where they can live in their own comfort zone without having to lift a finger. So whats going on with these people? Its simple. Its just like Orwell said - "its not that they love the environment, its that they hate humanity" And they hate humanity cause they hate themselves, cause the ideology they follow conditioned them to hate themselves. If these people were serious about saving the planet they would bury themselves alive under 6 feet of dirt. But thats not a very effective way of hating humanity is it? So instead they try to dictate other people's lives while preaching from their phony altar of moral superiority, and at the same time trying to hide their own lack of spine behind "saving the planet". In reality the only real goal these people have is their hate towards individualism, freedom, and prosperity. They truly are evil, and they're mentally ill.
I was never religious, but it's becoming increasingly obvious to me that the rise in political polarization on both sides of the spectrum (left and right) has something to do with the rise in atheism and widespread rejection of religion. Interestingly, the older I get, the more I come to see religion in a positive light, even though I was a "proud" atheist when I was younger and always made fun of religious people for believing everything in their life was dictated by an invisible god in the sky. However, the problem is that if humans can't find meaning in life through religion, they will try to find it through something else, and this is precisely what we're experiencing right now. People are flocking to ideology--take "wokeness" for example--as a means to give meaning to their existence. This has resulted in the growing political divide we're presently at grips with.
This is exactly true....humans are going to ascribe meaning and look for it where there is none....religion always served to fill that void, and now it's fading away in the Western world and being replaced by secular ideology that serves like a replacement religion. What's odd to me, is that the new secular religion isn't even original, it basically rebrands Christianity tenants using secular language/ideals. You can see the similiarities when you look close: Christianity: we are all sinners because of original sin of Adam & Eve. Secular woke: we are all sinners because of colonialism. Christianity: we must all repent for our sins. Secular woke: we must all repent for the sins of our ancestors through acknowledging your "white privilege" and other forms of restitution. Christianity: Look to Jesus for what's just and right, Jesus will provide judgment. Secular woke: look to society for justice, society rules/laws will implement "justice". I could go on....the similarities between them are eerie. Odd because woke people hate religion, especially Christianity......yet they modeled their woke ideology after the hallmarks of Christianity principles. The irony.
Covid, political climate, Russia war, inflating economy, and aging in general has made me MUCH more religious than I was in my late teens-early twenties. It doesn’t really matter to me whether gods real or not, I’m choosing to err on the side of caution per Pascal’s wager. Besides if living according to religious principles makes people behave better, then in a sense, isn’t God real?
I think it's more attributable to the decline of enlightenment philosophy. The declaration of independence spells out the central tenet: We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.--That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed. The ideal is not democracy, it is consent. We have a system where rights go to the individual, and commonwealth is managed through democracy. The polarization is because of growing intolerance and failure to agree to disagree. We don't need a god, that is just bullshit and a talking point for people eager to strip you of your civil rights.
I have travelled the exact same path. I dont need religion but the masses do. I never thought I'd be here but god-worship clearly poses less problems than man-worship does. There are also enough religions to offer somewhat of a balance in most countries. That covid cult is terrifying.

Judgement comes in the afterlife from the "man in the sky". Woke secular religion is a horizontal relationship among sects of society, where some sects get to pass judgement and other sects get to be judged....in the here and now. Who gets to play the "Secular God" and get the right to pass judgement? Who is to be judged and condemned? Pitting sects of society against each other will never end well.

I think imagining a better world does not necessarily mean wanting a better world or hating the real world. Imagination and imagining great things is an important tool for self development and reflecting. Imagination can be an escape, but also a source of inspiration.
@@daemonsilver3304 Yes exactly. I sometimes wonder if people who have a poor imagination are more prone to being manipulated by utopian ideas like that, or people who are less intelligent. I also wonder if that's not the case and wonder if I could be manipulated in such a way as well. I feel like I'm much more likely to think critically and look at religions from a more wide perspective. I often recognise snippets of my own philosophy and understanding of the world in alot of religions, so I could never fully commit to one doctrine, as far as I'm aware.

I appreciate the reflection I'm your comment. I have been concerned about the negative critique of our current time. Suffering is a constant. It doesn't matter what generation or time you have been born in. All people have suffered and learned. I am 56 and life was extremely difficult. Sometimes I suffered greatly, sometimes not so much. Despite suffering I didn't reject or hate the world.
I can relate to a lot of this unfortunately. I’ve been having this bizarre existential crisis recently where I’ve become aware of a lot of my problems but I have to fight the part of me that is scared of change.
You cannot be a nihilist without feeling good about the end of the world, and you cannot feel good about the end of the world unless foreseeing that event somehow puts you above the world. That is how big our egos can get.
Could then Nihilism be a form of coping for not being able to prevent the end of the world although you can see it? As to feel good about the end of the world would also imply your own end. I mean I have no idea but are nihilist happy? I assume not. It is more like a sadistic form of being black pilled and being resentful and apathetic

It is such a strength to admit what you just did and especially wrote that you made things worse around yourself, because some "superior" people I know they would run away from admitting those uncomfortable feelings, discards people like objects and continues to play this delusional self-serving nihilistic game. I have faced myself as well, had no other way around. You would destroy everyone around and I would destroy myself. I believe there is a correlation between Western nihilism and the 24/7 despair and division we see and hear on the news, from our political "leadership" and the continuous echo of that same despair of approval and disapproval from the common people on social media.
I think a lot of people don't give Christianity enough credit for labelling everyone as a sinner to start. There's something so simplistic, humble, but also valid with the idea that destruction is the default. Its our ability to make choices to pursue something beyond us that represents all that is good. You could make the argument that over abundance has led to child mentality within most people nowadays. Almost like evolution, really knows what its doing when it invokes suffering, as if it were to counter the weak, privledged notion that everything should be taken for granted in order to satisfy some unquestioned false belief that what "feels" is "good", all the while criticizing others, unable to see the obvious contradiction of your own selfish desire for control. There is something off about how we think, and I hate it.

For this reason I've given up on America and the West. I've been in Russia since 2014 and life here is easier somehow. Materialism is trying to take over but it can't conquer the Russian soul. So stoic, strong and proud. My Scandinavian ancestors would be depressed to see the state of our homeland. Don't even get me started on America :/

Nietzsches work is difficult to read, and even harder to understand. without the proper context and temperance through life experience, one risks drawing dark and sinister conclusions from his work. Reading his work is like balancing on a knife edge, with profound truths about the human condition on on side, and the abyss of madness on the other. Would not recommend Nietzsches work to the mind of a teenager, its much better to read Nietzsche in ones mid twenties and onward.

A great way of taking in what society has plaguing itself within. All of these radically senial thoughts and ideas making people fight amongst themselves is a fall into despair and a chaotic state of mind where it gives people purpose in a negative aspect and invoke their negativity upon others around them. We are all made of the same thing the universe is made of so we all connect to it. Our brain patterns look like the cosmos, our vains like tree branches, our DNA stores data, and when scientists worked out how much data DNA could store it works out to be the same number of years our universe is alive.... We all connect, but living in physical form with outward distractions stop us accessing this knowledge. But as a kid I was different.... My dreams where out of this world, my core beliefs were so different from others, I could sense spirits. When I was in my teens i nearly killed myself trying to fit in, I lost my way,.. but then one day I woke up, I saw the light again and started my new journey. I've seen my own soul in my reflection and had no idea who I was looking at. And at one low point in my life my deceased grandad came to me and told me everything will be ok. This was so confirming to me that their is something beyond that I'm now on a mission to learn and connect to more fully. That's why I've taken myself away from the busy world and spend more time contemplating and getting back to nature so I live in a van on a field and enjoy the simple life. I'm free to understand myself and work on myself and try to become the great spirit I should have been many years ago when I was lost in this madness of our society and culture. I may be crazy but I feel more sane and alive than ever,... But unfortunately it means I walk a solitary path but it's how it must be if we are to discover our true selves.... Alone but never lonely.

Growing up I went too a Catholic school, I was deeply devoted, I said 12 prayers a night and even censored my thoughts to never think illy of others and to never ponder on ideas that would have been perfectly normal for someone my age to think about, and religion class was my favorite subject in which I thrived in. In other words, I was wholly devoted. But of course I knew high school was coming around the corner, and I would finally be subjected to a public school. I knew many students would question me on my faith, many of which would be atheists, and I as a follower of God would need to be able to win arguments with them for their own benefits. So I figured one day, the best way to attack their arguments was to deeply understand not just the logic, but the point of view. So I prayed to God and explained to him that I would, for a moment, look over all that I knew from the perspective that assumes it’s all false. Because I had faith that Catholicism is true, and that God was synonymous with truth, I had no fear in taking the atheists perspective in my heart for a few days in order to find the cracks in such a belief and ultimately use this experience to win arguments and turn them to God. However the issue that came along was- everything made more sense. Everything. My entire religion, my single anchor of hope, my hearts devotion, my reasoning through all suffering, my entire cognition of reality, it had all dissolved. My God had died in the most un-climactic ways similar to letting go of a bad idea. Sophomore year of high school I became a nihilist without even knowing about such a belief. All I was left with was a meaningless, chaotic world, my life had no greater plan, I would never reach heaven, any family members who had passed away were truly gone forever, evil people in this world who got away with their crimes were rewarded and not punished. I flirted with the idea of suicide from time to time, it seemed to answer the question of life by making the question no longer relevant. So I tried hard to look into this idea of “rational suicide.” I couldn’t find anyone talking about it. Everyone committed suicide because they had an immediate issues and pains, not because they believed it to truly be a solution to life. That is until I did find someone who actually spoke about questioning if suicide is an answer to life or not, Albert Camus. I started to read some of his work and eventually found your UA-cam channel. From Robert Greene to Alan Watts, I was exposed to many different ideologies and philosophies that inspired me to become an absurdist. Now I hold a deep appreciation for the physical world, the world I once tried to seek refuge from via a spiritual paradise. I still have my struggles, but I do so with purpose. Ironically, faith is still required. I don’t believe in the supernatural, but I still have faith that the human experience is worth experiencing.
So, you were happy while you believed in God, and miserable while you didn't. It sounds like you discarded a mountain of evidence the moment things got hard.
@@IanConnel I don’t think so actually. He had all evidence pointing to the conclusion that God does not exist. I don’t think he disregarded the evidence. Even if he knew that life was better with God, to him, it probably seemed like he was living a false life if he chose to believe in an entity that did not exist. I think this is a big problem in the world, which is why I think the question of “is God real” is irrelevant, because even if God is not real, he is necessary.
@@IanConnel you do not understand, my faith was unwavering. I would have never given it up if life became difficult. It was my entire paradigm. I was simply not afraid to put truth above God, because to me they were one in the same and I had faith my God would come out the other end with logic alone. He did not. Only after I REALIZED my entire life was centered around a false truth I became adrift. Do you honestly think I wanted this? I wasn’t some atheist with hate in my heart, but a love and devotion for God and Jesus, people of which I saw for the first time as illusions. It’s sickening and deeply depressing to view behind the curtain, horrifying even. I desperately WANTED to go back, but it’s not possible. It’s like seeing the hidden image within an optical illusion, you can’t unsee it. Yes I was miserable, and I probably would be happier if I was still religious, but my struggle provides meaning. And I still have faith, just not in God, but instead in truth, Justice, and love. I find joy in pursuing truth now, and am relieved when I find I followed false truths. Because I am inching closer to that unreachable idea of “truth.”

This was very well done. It is an essential point in philosophy of if all of religions is just a way to deny reality or not. My view, as a huge fan of both Nietzsche and "religion", see these views to both make important points, but still in the final analysis, they are not antithetical. How so? First, Nietzsche is correct that denying this world in which we actually live is a self-defeating act. You were also very wise to cite how Paul tried to fuse Greek thought with Christian thought, because this is where the problem is (they are fundamentally antithetical). If all of the following are true, there is no conflict between Nietzsche's views and Christian views: 1) Earth is a place where fallen entities come, 2) but it is perfect for them, because it is designed to allow raising of consciousness, 3) there are truer worlds, but they are not available to those of fallen consciousness due to how consciousness works. Therefore, humans should embrace this world and be "in" this world, but not "of" this world, meaning humans should focus on raising consciousness to embrace obviously logical necessities like there is only one universe and therefore we are indeed all one and so the Will to Power means seeing how collaboration is more powerful than egoism and dog-eat-dog/might is right thinking. The paradox is the real power is the power of love, and selfish power fails in the long run and is not powerful at all.
As long as there is suffering in the world, there will be institutions that will exploit others desires for pain free utopias. We have always had a love -hate relationship with the world, & our arrogance at assuming we can shape the world in our image only adds to our suffering. 11:39 This one struck hard, it is me. 33 yo, I spent the first ~30 years of my life deeply in Christianity, born and raised in USA, going to church, etc. The bullshit from the last ~4 years is the "faith crisis" (not just faith in God, but in humans, in almost every man-made institution I grew up with) that has driven me to perhaps become somewhat nihilistic and deeply distrustful of most sources other than my own personal experience (yes, this includes moderate distrust of even history books and things I read online.) I study more history and philosophy, lately. I'm very intrigued and have somewhat become "amoral," although there are certainly parts of me that still cling to my youth, my parents' shadow, and to Christian teachings (I don't view this as a bad thing, I'm just interpreting things more for myself, instead of allowing other people to tell me what something means.) I'm much more open to listening to viewpoints of others that just 5 years ago I would have found deeply disturbing and probably would have walked away from immediately. Hell, I hardly like Star Wars but I've been watching videos about the philosophies of the light side versus the dark side just fuckin because. I have no idea how to come to terms with things. It's not causing me much anxiety, but it is something I ponder as I talk to people online, or as I go about my personal hobbies.

I don't like everyone but I see you as myself. Apart we are grains of sand, together we are planet earth. I live with a very painful, incurable disease and it's taught me that there are beautiful lessons in the darkest of places. I feel like that's why I'm here, to suffer and learn. Perspective is everything. How interesting is my place in the human record going to be? Maybe I'm writing a book in time to keep me in line when my place comes in eternity. @@audryskelecius9948That's kind of you! I don't talk about it much but to give you perspective I will. I have CRPS in my left leg and Gray Matter disease that manifest in MS like symptoms. I'm in a wheelchair but I can get around in arm crutches if I have to. I have really bad kyphosis with many pinched nerves that I can't relieve with surgery out of fear of spreading my CRPS. My leg feels like I have second degree burns on it. Sometimes it's intense pressure and a frost bite sensation. Nothing compares to nerve pain on this level. Ketamine helps but if you want kidneys you can't do that everyday. Morphine does very little. It's untreatable for the most part. I get monthly epidurals the same procedure that pregnant women get. It helps for about 2 weeks. I'm profoundly ill but I refuse to give up my light. The devil itself can't touch it. All this pain has humble me and made me a far more empathetic person. I have all the time in the world to read now. I still have sunrises and birds songs. I fear death far less, I fear less in general. If pain is wisdom I might be getting somewhere 😜. Life is full of contrast and it's not easy for any of us. I'm not complaining about the gift of life. It's just a lot harder to get the most out of it. Thank you for being kind again!

What do you mean “be good at.” Life is like a dance, it’s not about how fast or precise we are, it’s about just that: dancing. Some are extravagant and complex with their dances, some just shimmy around, many are just doing what’s popular and trending. But dance is a form of expression, so true is life. You are only “good at life” if you want to be. Dancing is supposed to be a dramatic and enjoyable experience, find pleasure in it and work to express yourself more.
@crassgop then I would congratulate him for making the first step towards self actualization: understanding that something is wrong. Many go though life believing that life is responsible for their unhappiness, but like you said “I’m bad at living” implies that this person takes ownership of their life. The belief that your efforts contribute to positive and negative outcomes is already an achievement over others who simply chalk their efforts up to luck. And studies have shown that individuals (regardless of success) who believes that they are in control of their lives have a positive correlation with perceived wellbeing (happiness). The next step of course would be to ask “why am I bad at life?” or “what is MY life?”

I would recommend a wider library than just Nietzsche and Jung. Nietzsche was brilliant in certain places, but widely off on others as history as shown. Same with Freud, Jung... same with every philosopher. (The Philosophies of philosophers often reflect their particular psychological challenges) For example, yes, one could argue Nihilism comes a natural consequence of so-called "True world" religions (as if the East has none themselves? i.e. Non-duality,? World as illusion, etc. Yet Nihilism is western phenomenon because of Christianity?) but Nihilism can also comes from a rejection of the meaning those religions provide. Also, Nietzsche, like so many intellectuals of the time, over generalize and dismiss religions as "dead." RIght, go ask a Slav, Croat, Serb peasant back than if his religion is "dead." He doesn't just throws out the baby with the bathwater, he chucks the entire neighborhood in to the sun. So, anyone can argue both for Nietzsche's position and against him. There are so many brilliant philosophers who have successfully refuted him; Go and explore! There's a bigger world out there than Eastern European's cynicism. But Nietzsche does write like a golden prophet and most philosophers don't have his prose-skill.

Well, God has taught me that i ought to suffer for righteousness as he did on the cross. That this is how redemption was won. Not in the avoidance of suffering but Facing it with courage for what is right. This i find gives meaning to suffering. Nietze critized christianity with what i assume is a lack of manliness. But i find that its at the core of sacrifice. Manliness without righteousness will diminish us into beasts. Manliness must be married with the ideal. To lose the ideal is to lose direction. I do not think suffering with courage can sustain itself for long without heaven as its aim. Cut out heaven and all you have left is an angry man shaking his fist at God for not existing.

To be fair to Christianity it does view suffering as needed for the current life and beneficial such as: James 1 “Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, 4 and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, 5 and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.” Also Jesus says to take up our daily cross which is suffering. And the kingdom of God is is duel as something of present but also future, so purpose now and hope of purpose later. Now I will agree the modern focus of Christianity has devolved as you said into current reality of forgot and who cares about this life because of future potential life. I also think you hit it right because of the meshing of Platonic thought which happened predominately in the Middle Ages till now.

To work on being in this world and not ‘of this world’ makes for some peace of mind and a work in progress. My change of thinking since becoming a Christian from being an atheist and recognising the lies in disguise I did not see before has given me a kinder view of myself, I am my own good friend rather than (without realising it) having the hostility within towards myself. Seeing the evil works within this world, learning it was never as random and coincidental as it is made out to be, it is exactly how the ’enlightened ones’ intended it to be… it truly is a spiritual war against the light within your souls. It is a rebellious thing to live as a Christian is todays political climate.

When I was young, I didn’t want to be hurt or experience struggle. I retreated into myself. Eventually I used Nihilism to try and justify my own failures and my shortcomings. I’m an adult now, and realize that the fears, struggles, and emotional pain of what I am going to face now, with even less of a social group,could have all been avoided if I did the things I spent my whole youth avoiding. I wake up scared of my future. The exact opposite of what I thought Nihilism could do for me.
Nihilism to these things isn't that bad because they're fake, honestly. The nihilism of the self, though, is the greatest sin one can commit, as discussed above it is inevitable in the masses, but as an individual, you have a choice.

There's all this talk of nihilism and meaning, when what I see is failure of parenting. That god has died means it's up to us to be good. There never been a higher possibility of near full accountability for each action of each adult. There's no more scapegoat, nor arbitrary sanctuary and self forgiveness for the guilt of bad actors. Stare reality in the face and declare that you strive and will continue to be a good person.

You see it in every facet of life, in every agency, organisation and even social groups that fill and/or influence our lives, has an air of religious fanaticism. You can't discuss anything, be it politics, history, even movies, without coming across those that declare you evil, just for having a view that differs from theirs, because from their POV, they are the faithful, the embodiment of all that is good and correct, and so if you hold a different POV then you are the embodiment of evil. Those citizens who display talent in business or the arts are either oppressed, or their gifts are coercively utilized by the corrupt state. Despite purporting to be a fair and equitable system of wealth distribution, those in leadership positions seem to live a far more luxurious lifestyle than the mass of menial workers. Wealth is effectively stolen from the rich. Most destructively, virtuous and holy teachings (“dharma”, in Sanskrit) are repressed by the irreligious and ILLEGITIMATE “government”. The argument that some form of government WELFARE programme is essential to aid those who are unable to financially-support themselves for reasons beyond their control, is fallacious. A righteous ruler (i.e. a saintly monarch) will ensure the welfare of each and every citizen by encouraging private welfare. There is no need for a king to extort money from his subjects in order to feed and clothe the impoverished. Of course, in the highly-unlikely event that civilians are unwilling to help a person in dire straits, the king would step-in to assist that person, as one would expect from a patriarch (father of his people). The head of any nation ought to be the penultimate patriarch, not a selfish buffoon. DEMOCRACY: DEMOCRACY is almost as evil as socialism, because, just as the rabble favoured the murderous Barabbas over the good King Jesus, the ignorant masses will vote, overwhelmingly, for the candidate who promises to fulfil their petty desires, rather than one who will enforce the law, and promote a wholesome and just society. Read Chapter 12 for the most authoritative and concise exegesis of law and ethics, currently available. Unlike socialism, in which wealth is stolen from the rich and distributed to the poor (with a “little” bit extra for the ruling elite), democratic governments frequently steal money from the working-class via the taxation system and distribute it to the already affluent, often indirectly. Even in the miraculous scenario where the vast majority of the population are holy and righteous citizens, it is still immoral for them to vote for a seemingly-righteous leader. This is because that leader will not be, by definition, a king. As clearly and logically explicated in the previous chapter of this Holy Scripture, MONARCHY is the only lawful form of governance. If an elected ruler is truly righteous, he will not be able to condone the fact that the citizens are paying him to perform a job (which is a working-class role), and that an inordinate amount of time, money and resources are being wasted on political campaigning. The thought of children voting for who will be their parents or teachers, would seem utterly RIDICULOUS to the average person, yet most believe that they are qualified to choose their own ruler - they are most assuredly not! Just as a typical child fails to understand that a piece of sweet, juicy, nutritious, delicious fruit is more beneficial for them than a cone of pus-infested, fattening, diabetes-inducing ice-cream, so too can the uneducated proletariat not understand that they are unqualified to choose their own leader, even after it is logically explained to them (as it is in this chapter, as well as in the previous chapter). And by “uneducated”, it is simply meant that they are misguided in the realities of life and in “dharma” (righteous living), not in facts and figures, nor in technical training. Intelligence doesn’t necessarily correlate with wisdom! No democratic (or socialist) government will educate its citizens sufficiently well, that those citizens will acquire knowledge of how to usurp their regime. To put it frankly, democracy is rule by the “lowest common denominator”. One who requires the services of a brain surgeon NATURALLY seeks the most qualified physician to perform the operation, so logically, we ought accept the sovereignty of the most qualified man to rule over an entire nation (a genuine king). Furthermore, true democracy is impossible in practice - see the entry “democracy” in the Glossary of what is, by far, the most important work of literature ever composed, this Holy Scripture, “A Final Instruction Sheet for Humanity”. ANARCHY: It should be obvious that ANARCHY can never ever succeed, because even the smallest possible social unit (the nuclear family) requires a dominator. Any family will fall-apart without a strict male household head. Factually-speaking, without the husband/father, there is no family, by definition. The English noun “husband” comes from the Old Norse word “hûsbôndi”, meaning “master of the house”. A family is deficient without its head, just as a body without its head is incomplete. The same paradigm applies to the extended family, which depends on a strong patriarchal figure (customarily, the eldest or most senior male). Likewise with clans, tribes, villages, towns, cities, and nations or countries. Unfortunately, there are many otherwise-intelligent persons who honestly believe that an ENTIRE country can smoothly function without a leader in place. Any sane person can easily understand that even a nuclear family is unable to function properly without a head of the house, what to speak of a populous nation. I don't know if these are your personal views about environmentalists, or the views of your producers, but I disagree.
These "environmentalists" couldn't care less about the planet. They use fossil fuels and they destroy the environment just as much as everybody else. In fact, its typically these people that cannot exist without civilization's survival spaces that we know as cities, where they can live in their own comfort zone without having to lift a finger.

I was never religious, but it's becoming increasingly obvious to me that the rise in political polarization on both sides of the spectrum (left and right) has something to do with the rise in atheism and widespread rejection of religion. Interestingly, the older I get, the more I come to see religion in a positive light, even though I was a "proud" atheist when I was younger and always made fun of religious people for believing everything in their life was dictated by an invisible god in the sky. However, the problem is that if humans can't find meaning in life through religion, they will try to find it through something else, and this is precisely what we're experiencing right now. People are flocking to ideology--take "wokeness" for example--as a means to give meaning to their existence. This has resulted in the growing political divide we're presently at grips with.
This is exactly true....humans are going to ascribe meaning and look for it where there is none....religion always served to fill that void, and now it's fading away in the Western world and being replaced by secular ideology that serves like a replacement religion. What's odd to me, is that the new secular religion isn't even original, it basically rebrands Christianity tenants using secular language/ideals. You can see the similiarities when you look close:
Christianity: we are all sinners because of original sin of Adam & Eve.
Secular woke: we are all sinners because of colonialism.
Christianity: we must all repent for our sins.
Secular woke: we must all repent for the sins of our ancestors through acknowledging your "white privilege" and other forms of restitution.
Christianity: Look to Jesus for what's just and right, Jesus will provide judgment.
Secular woke: look to society for justice, society rules/laws will implement "justice".
I could go on....the similarities between them are eerie. Odd because woke people hate religion, especially Christianity......yet they modeled their woke ideology after the hallmarks of Christianity principles. The irony.
Covid, political climate, Russia war, inflating economy, and aging in general has made me MUCH more religious than I was in my late teens-early twenties. It doesn’t really matter to me whether gods real or not, I’m choosing to err on the side of caution per Pascal’s wager. Besides if living according to religious principles makes people behave better, then in a sense, isn’t God real?
I think it's more attributable to the decline of enlightenment philosophy. The declaration of independence spells out the central tenet:
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.--That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.
The ideal is not democracy, it is consent. We have a system where rights go to the individual, and commonwealth is managed through democracy. The polarization is because of growing intolerance and failure to agree to disagree. We don't need a god, that is just bullshit and a talking point for people eager to strip you of your civil rights.
I have travelled the exact same path. I dont need religion but the masses do. I never thought I'd be here but god-worship clearly poses less problems than man-worship does. There are also enough religions to offer somewhat of a balance in most countries. That covid cult is terrifying.
I agree God-worship poses less problems. God-worship in general is a vertical relationship.....between the individual and the "man in the sky". Judgement comes in the afterlife from the "man in the sky". Woke secular religion is a horizontal relationship among sects of society, where some sects get to pass judgement and other sects get to be judged....in the here and now. Who gets to play the "Secular God" and get the right to pass judgement? Who is to be judged and condemned? Pitting sects of society against each other will never end well.

I think imagining a better world does not necessarily mean wanting a better world or hating the real world. Imagination and imagining great things is an important tool for self development and reflecting. Imagination can be an escape, but also a source of inspiration.
But the Plato thing goes beyond imagining, and enshrines these imaginings into a doctrine. A religion. Which is where harm is done.

I also wonder if that's not the case and wonder if I could be manipulated in such a way as well. I feel like I'm much more likely to think critically and look at religions from a more wide perspective. I often recognise snippets of my own philosophy and understanding of the world in alot of religions, so I could never fully commit to one doctrine, as far as I'm aware.

I appreciate the reflection I'm your comment. I have been concerned about the negative critique of our current time. Suffering is a constant. It doesn't matter what generation or time you have been born in. All people have suffered and learned. I am 56 and life was extremely difficult. Sometimes I suffered greatly, sometimes not so much. Despite suffering I didn't reject or hate the world.

I think a lot of people don't give Christianity enough credit for labelling everyone as a sinner to start. There's something so simplistic, humble, but also valid with the idea that destruction is the default. Its our ability to make choices to pursue something beyond us that represents all that is good. You could make the argument that over abundance has led to child mentality within most people nowadays. Almost like evolution, really knows what its doing when it invokes suffering, as if it were to counter the weak, privledged notion that everything should be taken for granted in order to satisfy some unquestioned false belief that what "feels" is "good", all the while criticizing others, unable to see the obvious contradiction of your own selfish desire for control. There is something off about how we think, and I hate it.

Nietzsches work is difficult to read, and even harder to understand. without the proper context and temperance through life experience, one risks drawing dark and sinister conclusions from his work. Reading his work is like balancing on a knife edge, with profound truths about the human condition on on side, and the abyss of madness on the other. Would not recommend Nietzsches work to the mind of a teenager, its much better to read Nietzsche in ones mid twenties and onward.

We are all made of the same thing the universe is made of so we all connect to it. Our brain patterns look like the cosmos, our vains like tree branches, our DNA stores data, and when scientists worked out how much data DNA could store it works out to be the same number of years our universe is alive.... We all connect, but living in physical form with outward distractions stop us accessing this knowledge. But as a kid I was different.... My dreams where out of this world, my core beliefs were so different from others, I could sense spirits. When I was in my teens i nearly killed myself trying to fit in, I lost my way,.. but then one day I woke up, I saw the light again and started my new journey. I've seen my own soul in my reflection and had no idea who I was looking at. And at one low point in my life my deceased grandad came to me and told me everything will be ok. This was so confirming to me that their is something beyond that I'm now on a mission to learn and connect to more fully. That's why I've taken myself away from the busy world and spend more time contemplating and getting back to nature so I live in a van on a field and enjoy the simple life. I'm free to understand myself and work on myself and try to become the great spirit I should have been many years ago when I was lost in this madness of our society and culture. I may be crazy but I feel more sane and alive than ever,... But unfortunately it means I walk a solitary path but it's how it must be if we are to discover our true selves.... Alone but never lonely.

I can not reaffirm enough how true this is. Growing up I went too a Catholic school, I was deeply devoted, I said 12 prayers a night and even censored my thoughts to never think illy of others and to never ponder on ideas that would have been perfectly normal for someone my age to think about, and religion class was my favorite subject in which I thrived in. In other words, I was wholly devoted.
But of course I knew high school was coming around the corner, and I would finally be subjected to a public school. I knew many students would question me on my faith, many of which would be atheists, and I as a follower of God would need to be able to win arguments with them for their own benefits. So I figured one day, the best way to attack their arguments was to deeply understand not just the logic, but the point of view. So I prayed to God and explained to him that I would, for a moment, look over all that I knew from the perspective that assumes it’s all false. Because I had faith that Catholicism is true, and that God was synonymous with truth, I had no fear in taking the atheists perspective in my heart for a few days in order to find the cracks in such a belief and ultimately use this experience to win arguments and turn them to God.
However the issue that came along was- everything made more sense. Everything. My entire religion, my single anchor of hope, my hearts devotion, my reasoning through all suffering, my entire cognition of reality, it had all dissolved. My God had died in the most un-climactic ways similar to letting go of a bad idea. Sophomore year of high school I became a nihilist without even knowing about such a belief. All I was left with was a meaningless, chaotic world, my life had no greater plan, I would never reach heaven, any family members who had passed away were truly gone forever, evil people in this world who got away with their crimes were rewarded and not punished. I flirted with the idea of suicide from time to time, it seemed to answer the question of life by making the question no longer relevant.
So I tried hard to look into this idea of “rational suicide.” I couldn’t find anyone talking about it. Everyone committed suicide because they had an immediate issues and pains, not because they believed it to truly be a solution to life. That is until I did find someone who actually spoke about questioning if suicide is an answer to life or not, Albert Camus. I started to read some of his work and eventually found your UA-cam channel. From Robert Greene to Alan Watts, I was exposed to many different ideologies and philosophies that inspired me to become an absurdist. Now I hold a deep appreciation for the physical world, the world I once tried to seek refuge from via a spiritual paradise. I still have my struggles, but I do so with purpose. Ironically, faith is still required. I don’t believe in the supernatural, but I still have faith that the human experience is worth experiencing.
So, you were happy while you believed in God, and miserable while you didn't. It sounds like you discarded a mountain of evidence the moment things got hard.

He had all evidence pointing to the conclusion that God does not exist. I don’t think he disregarded the evidence. Even if he knew that life was better with God, to him, it probably seemed like he was living a false life if he chose to believe in an entity that did not exist. I think this is a big problem in the world, which is why I think the question of “is God real” is irrelevant, because even if God is not real, he is necessary.

@@IanConnel you do not understand, my faith was unwavering. I would have never given it up if life became difficult. It was my entire paradigm. I was simply not afraid to put truth above God, because to me they were one in the same and I had faith my God would come out the other end with logic alone. He did not. Only after I REALIZED my entire life was centered around a false truth I became adrift. Do you honestly think I wanted this? I wasn’t some atheist with hate in my heart, but a love and devotion for God and Jesus, people of which I saw for the first time as illusions. It’s sickening and deeply depressing to view behind the curtain, horrifying even. I desperately WANTED to go back, but it’s not possible. It’s like seeing the hidden image within an optical illusion, you can’t unsee it.
Yes I was miserable, and I probably would be happier if I was still religious, but my struggle provides meaning. And I still have faith, just not in God, but instead in truth, Justice, and love. I find joy in pursuing truth now, and am relieved when I find I followed false truths. Because I am inching closer to that unreachable idea of “truth.”

I think a lot of people assume Nietzsche was advocating or celebrating the death of God. He was actually warning people about it.

This was very well done. It is an essential point in philosophy of if all of religions is just a way to deny reality or not. My view, as a huge fan of both Nietzsche and "religion", see these views to both make important points, but still in the final analysis, they are not antithetical.
How so? First, Nietzsche is correct that denying this world in which we actually live is a self-defeating act. You were also very wise to cite how Paul tried to fuse Greek thought with Christian thought, because this is where the problem is (they are fundamentally antithetical). If all of the following are true, there is no conflict between Nietzsche's views and Christian views: 1) Earth is a place where fallen entities come, 2) but it is perfect for them, because it is designed to allow raising of consciousness, 3) there are truer worlds, but they are not available to those of fallen consciousness due to how consciousness works. Therefore, humans should embrace this world and be "in" this world, but not "of" this world, meaning humans should focus on raising consciousness to embrace obviously logical necessities like there is only one universe and therefore we are indeed all one and so the Will to Power means seeing how collaboration is more powerful than egoism and dog-eat-dog/might is right thinking. The paradox is the real power is the power of love, and selfish power fails in the long run and is not powerful at all.
As long as there is suffering in the world, there will be institutions that will exploit others desires for pain free utopias. We have always had a love -hate relationship with the world, & our arrogance at assuming we can shape the world in our image only adds to our suffering. All species have an expiration date with no exceptions. Keep up the great work. Thanks.

11:39 This one struck hard, it is me. 33 yo, I spent the first ~30 years of my life deeply in Christianity, born and raised in USA, going to church, etc.
The bullshit from the last ~4 years is the "faith crisis" (not just faith in God, but in humans, in almost every man-made institution I grew up with) that has driven me to perhaps become somewhat nihilistic and deeply distrustful of most sources other than my own personal experience (yes, this includes moderate distrust of even history books and things I read online.)
I study more history and philosophy, lately. I'm very intrigued and have somewhat become "amoral," although there are certainly parts of me that still cling to my youth, my parents' shadow, and to Christian teachings (I don't view this as a bad thing, I'm just interpreting things more for myself, instead of allowing other people to tell me what something means.) I'm much more open to listening to viewpoints of others that just 5 years ago I would have found deeply disturbing and probably would have walked away from immediately. Hell, I hardly like Star Wars but I've been watching videos about the philosophies of the light side versus the dark side just fuckin because.
I have no idea how to come to terms with things. It's not causing me much anxiety, but it is something I ponder as I talk to people online, or as I go about my personal hobbies.

I don't like everyone but I see you as myself. Apart we are grains of sand, together we are planet earth. I live with a very painful, incurable disease and it's taught me that there are beautiful lessons in the darkest of places. I feel like that's why I'm here, to suffer and learn. @@audryskelecius9948That's kind of you! I don't talk about it much but to give you perspective I will. I have CRPS in my left leg and Gray Matter disease that manifest in MS like symptoms. I'm in a wheelchair but I can get around in arm crutches if I have to. I have really bad kyphosis with many pinched nerves that I can't relieve with surgery out of fear of spreading my CRPS. My leg feels like I have second degree burns on it. Sometimes it's intense pressure and a frost bite sensation. Nothing compares to nerve pain on this level. Ketamine helps but if you want kidneys you can't do that everyday. Morphine does very little. It's untreatable for the most part. I get monthly epidurals the same procedure that pregnant women get. It helps for about 2 weeks. I'm profoundly ill but I refuse to give up my light. The devil itself can't touch it.
All this pain has humble me and made me a far more empathetic person. I have all the time in the world to read now. I still have sunrises and birds songs. I fear death far less, I fear less in general. If pain is wisdom I might be getting somewhere 😜. Life is full of contrast and it's not easy for any of us. I'm not complaining about the gift of life. It's just a lot harder to get the most out of it.

What do you mean “be good at.” Life is like a dance, it’s not about how fast or precise we are, it’s about just that: dancing. Some are extravagant and complex with their dances, some just shimmy around, many are just doing what’s popular and trending. But dance is a form of expression, so true is life. You are only “good at life” if you want to be. Dancing is supposed to be a dramatic and enjoyable experience, find pleasure in it and work to express yourself more.
@crassgop then I would congratulate him for making the first step towards self actualization: understanding that something is wrong. Many go though life believing that life is responsible for their unhappiness, but like you said “I’m bad at living” implies that this person takes ownership of their life. The belief that your efforts contribute to positive and negative outcomes is already an achievement over others who simply chalk their efforts up to luck. And studies have shown that individuals (regardless of success) who believes that they are in control of their lives have a positive correlation with perceived wellbeing (happiness). The next step of course would be to ask “why am I bad at life?” or “what is MY life?”

I would recommend a wider library than just Nietzsche and Jung. Nietzsche was brilliant in certain places, but widely off on others as history as shown. Same with Freud, Jung... same with every philosopher. (The Philosophies of philosophers often reflect their particular psychological challenges) For example, yes, one could argue Nihilism comes a natural consequence of so-called "True world" religions (as if the East has none themselves? i.e. Non-duality,? World as illusion, etc. Yet Nihilism is western phenomenon because of Christianity?) but Nihilism can also comes from a rejection of the meaning those religions provide. Also, Nietzsche, like so many intellectuals of the time, over generalize and dismiss religions as "dead." RIght, go ask a Slav, Croat, Serb peasant back than if his religion is "dead." He doesn't just throws out the baby with the bathwater, he chucks the entire neighborhood in to the sun. So, anyone can argue both for Nietzsche's position and against him. There are so many brilliant philosophers who have successfully refuted him; Go and explore! There's a bigger world out there than Eastern European's cynicism. But Nietzsche does write like a golden prophet and most philosophers don't have his prose-skill.

I do not think suffering with courage can sustain itself for long without heaven as its aim. Cut out heaven and all you have left is an angry man shaking his fist at God for not existing.

Nietzsche was possessed of true genius, but it cannot be passed off out of hand how later in his philosophical career he became unconsciously possessed by his own genius and underwent massive inflation as a result of his own "will to power", and his experience of God's "death" in the western world. Jung was very clear about this, and also spoke often about the importance of the numinous experience and how knowing and submitting to God was actually the strongest possible fortification against unconscious possession. As far as the "true world" ideology is concerned, it might be better understood psychologically as the Gnostics understood the pleroma, which Jung himself identified as being a symbol of the Archetype of the Self. In this temporal world we are ever becoming, and the ego only represents that small portion of the psyche which is conscious of itself and more or less differentiated from the unconscious, but it does not and cannot ever represent the sum total of the individual human psyche. And it is that totality, the united wholeness it represents - "the hieros gamos" in the world beyond time and space - that we must strive to realize in the here and now, in this world of polarity and conflict. It is not to create heaven on earth, but it is to strive towards psychospiritual wholeness and in so reaching we might at last grasp that other worldly paradise which is always and forever just out of our mortal reach. And so in "dying" we might finally "live more abundantly", free from the perpetual cycle of "life death and rebirth", i.e. being stuck in cyclical patterns of destructive behavior. And just maybe if enough people do the work of becoming whole, then just maybe this terrestrial world might also change for the better and more closely reflect that potential paradise of the "true world" beyond.

Utopia is from two Greek words, "oo" and "topos" they translate to mean "no place". Therefore, Utopia isn't a destination, it's no place, technically, the nihilistic view. To be fair to Christianity it does view suffering as needed for the current life and beneficial such as: James 1

I also think you hit it right because of the meshing of Platonic thought which happened predominately in the Middle Ages till now.

To work on being in this world and not ‘of this world’ makes for some peace of mind and a work in progress.
My change of thinking since becoming a Christian from being an atheist and recognising the lies in disguise I did not see before has given me a kinder view of myself, I am my own good friend rather than (without realising it) having the hostility within towards myself. Seeing the evil works within this world, learning it was never as random and coincidental as it is made out to be, it is exactly how the ’enlightened ones’ intended it to be… it truly is a spiritual war against the light within your souls. It is a rebellious thing to live as a Christian is todays political climate.

When I was young, I didn’t want to be hurt or experience struggle. I retreated into myself. Eventually I used Nihilism to try and justify my own failures and my shortcomings. I’m an adult now, and realize that the fears, struggles, and emotional pain of what I am going to face now, with even less of a social group,could have all been avoided if I did the things I spent my whole youth avoiding. I wake up scared of my future. The exact opposite of what I thought Nihilism could do for me.

That god has died means it's up to us to be good. There never been a higher possibility of near full accountability for each action of each adult. There's no more scapegoat, nor arbitrary sanctuary and self forgiveness for the guilt of bad actors.

You see it in every facet of life, in every agency, organisation and even social groups that fill and/or influence our lives, has an air of religious fanaticism. You can't discuss anything, be it politics, history, even movies, without coming across those that declare you evil, just for having a view that differs from theirs, because from their POV, they are the faithful, the embodiment of all that is good and correct, and so if you hold a different POV then you are the embodiment of evil.

SOCIALISM/COMMUNISM:
SOCIALISM is a political and economic system of social organization in which natural resources, property, and the means of production are owned in common, controlled by the collective public, but typically by a cooperative, the state, or the government, as opposed to private ownership by individuals and/or business corporations. Socialism is based on the notion that common or public ownership of resources and means of production leads to a more equal society. It is a stage of society in Marxist theory, transitional between capitalism and communism, and distinguished by unequal distribution of goods and pay according to work done. Hence, COMMUNISM is an extreme form of socialism that strives for both social and economic equality, something which can never be achieved, since true equality can never ever exist in this world.
Socialism (and communism) is best defined in contrast with capitalism (or to be more accurate, with free-market economies), as socialism has arisen both as a critical challenge to capitalism, and as a proposal for overcoming and replacing it. Cf. “capitalism” in the Glossary of this book.
Socialism/communism is INTRINSICALLY evil, because it is based on the ideology of social and economic egalitarianism, which is a practical impossibility, if not a theoretical impossibility. Equality exists solely in abstract concepts such as mathematics and arguably in the sub-atomic realm. Many proponents of socialism argue that it is purely an economic system, and therefore, independent of any particular form of governance. In any case, assuming that socialism is no more than an economic organization, simply for the fact that it disallows any form of free-market exchange (which is objectively moral, or at worst, amoral - see Chapter 12), socialism and communism must not be imposed on any community, society, or nation. At worst, socialism/communism/Marxism is a truly horrific, tyrannical, totalitarian, murderous regime that leads to untold pain and misery, due to certain dogmas that are intrinsically associated with Marxism, particularly a ferocious hostility towards all things dharmic, especially freedom of religion. Marxists enjoy using the terms “capitalism” and “imperialism” in rather INACCURATE and emotive ways, in order to emphasize their supposed wicked natures. I would wager that the main motivation for Karl Marx’ (as well as the multitude of vassals to his caustic ideology) hatred for free-market economies is simply out of envy for the business class. There is very little doubt in my mind, that if Herr Marx and his minions had somehow found themselves with a healthy bank balance, they would have invested their financial resources in some kind of profitable enterprise, such as establishing a business or investing in company shares or stocks, rather than distributing their wealth among the poor masses, which would be more in keeping with their inane, egalitarian principles. If you think otherwise, then you are truly deluded, and think too highly of that parasite, Marx.
Socialism reduces individual citizens to utilities, who, in practice, are used to support the ruling elite, who are invariably despotic scoundrels, and very far from ideal leaders (i.e. compassionate and righteous monarchs). Those citizens who display talent in business or the arts are either oppressed, or their gifts are coercively utilized by the corrupt state. Despite purporting to be a fair and equitable system of wealth distribution, those in leadership positions seem to live a far more luxurious lifestyle than the mass of menial workers. Wealth is effectively stolen from the rich. Most destructively, virtuous and holy teachings (“dharma”, in Sanskrit) are repressed by the irreligious and ILLEGITIMATE “government”.
The argument that some form of government WELFARE programme is essential to aid those who are unable to financially-support themselves for reasons beyond their control, is fallacious. A righteous ruler (i.e. a saintly monarch) will ensure the welfare of each and every citizen by encouraging private welfare. There is no need for a king to extort money from his subjects in order to feed and clothe the impoverished. Of course, in the highly-unlikely event that civilians are unwilling to help a person in dire straits, the king would step-in to assist that person, as one would expect from a patriarch (father of his people). The head of any nation ought to be the penultimate patriarch, not a selfish buffoon.
DEMOCRACY:
DEMOCRACY is almost as evil as socialism, because, just as the rabble favoured the murderous Barabbas over the good King Jesus, the ignorant masses will vote, overwhelmingly, for the candidate who promises to fulfil their petty desires, rather than one who will enforce the law, and promote a wholesome and just society. Read Chapter 12 for the most authoritative and concise exegesis of law and ethics, currently available.
Unlike socialism, in which wealth is stolen from the rich and distributed to the poor (with a “little” bit extra for the ruling elite), democratic governments frequently steal money from the working-class via the taxation system and distribute it to the already affluent, often indirectly.
Even in the miraculous scenario where the vast majority of the population are holy and righteous citizens, it is still immoral for them to vote for a seemingly-righteous leader. This is because that leader will not be, by definition, a king. As clearly and logically explicated in the previous chapter of this Holy Scripture, MONARCHY is the only lawful form of governance. If an elected ruler is truly righteous, he will not be able to condone the fact that the citizens are paying him to perform a job (which is a working-class role), and that an inordinate amount of time, money and resources are being wasted on political campaigning. Furthermore, an actual ruler does not wimpishly pander to voters - he takes power by (divinely-mandated) force, as one would expect from the penultimate alpha-male in society (the ultimate alpha-male being a priest).
The thought of children voting for who will be their parents or teachers, would seem utterly RIDICULOUS to the average person, yet most believe that they are qualified to choose their own ruler - they are most assuredly not! Just as a typical child fails to understand that a piece of sweet, juicy, nutritious, delicious fruit is more beneficial for them than a cone of pus-infested, fattening, diabetes-inducing ice-cream, so too can the uneducated proletariat not understand that they are unqualified to choose their own leader, even after it is logically explained to them (as it is in this chapter, as well as in the previous chapter). And by “uneducated”, it is simply meant that they are misguided in the realities of life and in “dharma” (righteous living), not in facts and figures, nor in technical training. Intelligence doesn’t necessarily correlate with wisdom!
No democratic (or socialist) government will educate its citizens sufficiently well, that those citizens will acquire knowledge of how to usurp their regime. To put it frankly, democracy is rule by the “lowest common denominator”. One who requires the services of a brain surgeon NATURALLY seeks the most qualified physician to perform the operation, so logically, we ought accept the sovereignty of the most qualified man to rule over an entire nation (a genuine king). Furthermore, true democracy is impossible in practice - see the entry “democracy” in the Glossary of what is, by far, the most important work of literature ever composed, this Holy Scripture, “A Final Instruction Sheet for Humanity”.
ANARCHY:
It should be obvious that ANARCHY can never ever succeed, because even the smallest possible social unit (the nuclear family) requires a dominator. Any family will fall-apart without a strict male household head. Factually-speaking, without the husband/father, there is no family, by definition. The English noun “husband” comes from the Old Norse word “hûsbôndi”, meaning “master of the house”. A family is deficient without its head, just as a body without its head is incomplete. The same paradigm applies to the extended family, which depends on a strong patriarchal figure (customarily, the eldest or most senior male). Likewise with clans, tribes, villages, towns, cities, and nations or countries.
Unfortunately, there are many otherwise-intelligent persons who honestly believe that an ENTIRE country can smoothly function without a leader in place. Any sane person can easily understand that even a nuclear family is unable to function properly without a head of the house, what to speak of a populous nation. The reason for anarchists’ distrust of any kind of government is due to the corrupt nature of democratic governments, and the adulteration of the monarchy in recent centuries. However, if anarchists were to understand that most all so-called “kings/queens” in recent centuries were not even close to being true monarchs, they may change their stance on that inane “system”.
