New Update On Jurassic World 4 - Filming Locations Revealed

- Jurassic World 4 has David Koepp and Gareth Edwards joining the dinosaur saga but the new filming info reveals some stuff that is kind of odd with the new movie. A lot of rumors about it being a reboot and set in a city have come out and it looks like it may not be a prequel after all. So far everything we know about the movie is minimal.

I don’t know what’s worse. Hearing the name Jurassic City or hearing how unenthusiastic Klayton is about this movie. It feels so rushed.
Klayton's lack of enthusiasm is just a reflection of how the core audience that grew up with the original two movies feels. You can only experience total disappointment so many times before it simply becomes the default and expected emotion in any given case.
The disdain was evident in his voice in this video lol. I hope its not one big pile of crap.

I hear Jurassic City yet all my brain hears is Dinosaur City reboot.
The *IDEAL* scenario would be backtracking all the way before The Lost World, and make dinosaurs be just rumors, so any one of them on the lose in land would be like big foot or stuff like that

Personally, the OG JP did it best, it was a horror film masquerading as an action adventure film. Verticality, tight spaces, a frame within a frame, these are what made you scared. The franchise should return to that.

Most audiences today need loads of things happening at once because they have the attention span of a 3 year old. I agree with you, but im afraid its not going to happen.
Yeah, the most recent movie felt more like a space epic. You had a badass Han solo woman who lived out of her plane. A physical black market where shady people came to do business, where they also had dinosaurs... in the middle of a city. How they got them there and managed to hide these big and loud animals is apparently not important. Then there was also the secluded supervillain compound.
They should have gone the route of Battle at big rock with a world that felt small and dangerous. Not this "Lets fly around the world and meet all kinds of wacky characters"
The World Series is nothing, but a cheap action knock off.
Jurassic City sounds like a bad title for me so it's Zootopia meets Army of the Dead meets Batman Arkham City

I just want it to be descent and have the dinosaurs be scary at this point that's all I am asking for and I think it's gonna be set after dominion but there gonna distance them selves from the last movie.

@@arson6777 for real, such a missed point for the newer films were the fact that the raptors weren't just scary because OH DINOSAUR, it was because they were actively, willfully, malicious. This is more in the book, but still comes through in the original film. They arent hunting to eat, or defending territory, they actively want to cause the humans pain, they want to hunt and kill them for more than animalistic needs. The book always to me at least, pushed forward this idea that the raptors were FAR more intelligent than what they assumed, smarter than primates or dolphins and they enjoyed on a human level, the pain they were causing.
You must be more demanding, as should more fans. Settling and compromising halfway is how we get into situations like this or worse. Because you are relinquishing whatever power you have.
The development of this movie has been insanely fast, but it actually makes me feel better about it because, unlike most blockbusters that are fast-tracked purely for financial reasons, I get the feeling that this is moving so fast because the studio is uncommonly confident in the script and direction of the film.

I can't think of one movie that's done that and it worked.
Here’s my take on all this:
As much as I’d like to return to the Jurassic Park era, I’ve never thought this movie would be that. Plus with JP Survivor on the way, I’m satiated with that.
I think there’s so much potential with dinosaurs on the mainland that dominion flat out didn’t touch. And I think the way that film ended might help this movie. Think about it, it may not have the old cast, but it can actually explore the danger of dinosaurs on the mainland in a more personal way. The executives likely heard the numerous complaints about the films lack of focus on them. Dominion shook me to the core and made me rethink what I like from this franchise. And I think if this movie can bring back that old JP feeling in this modern setting, that’ll be worth a lot more than a prequel imo. We need a good movie about dinosaurs on the mainland.

Jurassic park could have been horror/action and sc-fi. For me was, diphlosaurus.

@@jackmyowl Yeah that won't happen. Today's blockbuster audience is a different breed than what it was in 1993. They'll see the word "Jurassic" and then proceed to go clap and cheer like brain dead seals in the theater when "Rexy" barely wins yet one more monster fight. God I miss when these movies treated the Dinosaurs like animals and not super hero's.

You mention the idea of it being the Dominion people wanted, I like the idea it could be set between Fallen Kingdom and Dominion to give us the human vs. Dinosaurs type scenario, as I think the real problem with Dominion is the story was released at the wrong point in order

The execution of Dominion was just bad cause of a lot of false promises. Also endless blatant nostalgia bait for the returning actors standing around in awe every 30 seconds.
Also Rexy keeps getting plot armored when they should've given her a proper character arc considering she's supposed to have found the other rexes it could've been awesome if they didnt scrap the flashback scene as an opening to the film. It would have given her proper reason to fight the Giga to the death in the end if more than food was at stake as maybe the buck and doe rexes might be seen as family, so imagine this elder trying to protect said family who might have the adolecent juvinile from Lost world or a new clutch from an oppertunistic predator.

I'm sure they won't use Jurassic City title, it's name of a syfy low budget movie and about Malta, well this city is not a problem, the way they used it in Dominion was ridiculous and when the black market was shut down many dinosaurs have got released there and maybe they want to use it for the opening scene and in my opinion Thailand is possibly going to be used for a new island, a mysterious island maybe site c or even previous islands because they already used two different locations for site b before in the past, Thailand is really good for a horror dinosaur movie specially because its environment is so similar to Primitive War's Vietnam and I love to see they take inspiration from this comic book series.

for Toho's *"GODZILLA vs MECHAGODZILLA"* (1993), which was released in India, and dubbed in Hindi.

My guess is that the film will be set an isolated location (island?) where a group of idealists attempt to maintain a symbiotic/coexistent settlement with dinosaurs in a more “hippie” parallel to the first film. Koepp could call back to The Lost World by introducing a group of characters (like the hunters) that attempt to capture the dinosaurs in the area to sell or exploit. This would provide a return to the tried and true “small group on an island are trapped and have to avoid dinosaurs to escape” formula, which seems like it would tie into both the Jurassic City and JW4 reboot production titles. It could also provide some soft continuity to Dominion by the hunters being tied to the dinosaur black market in Malta.
With that being said, I’m not especially hopeful about how this film will turn out considering all of the conflicting information we’ve been getting. Thanks for keeping us posted, Klayton - I hope we’re pleasantly surprised when it’s released!

As much as I would love a prequel, I wouldn't mind if it was set after dominion. As long as it's taken more seriously, and the dinosaurs are actually scary and dangerous.
Always a great day when you upload- love you keep us on the up and up for this film- because honestly at this point it’s getting to where I want to see the product before I attempt to experience it.

As for what I think- if we take what they said seriously about preventing a fast and furious series out of JP- we may see a soft reboot.
I don’t know how that would play out entirely, but MAYBE we’ll see effects that are happening directly following Biosyns downfall and dinosaurs have escaped their haven there- likely pyroraptors and such that have moved into the city looking for food.
Idk. But the idea they are in a city can imply desperation on the animals part, or someone figured out the brain tech CC brought up and was low key utilized in dominion. Could turn into a war zone via dinosaurs

I'm actually excited the movie won't be a prequel. Even tho i hated dominion I wanna see the world progress. A post dinosaur world can still be interesting!
It´s too early to tell, but the filming locations seem interesting.
Thailand as a filming locations means one of two things. Access to the tropical location or more likely a story line revolving around the amber mines and the military involvement in them
Who else thinks Jurassic Era or Jurassic Legacy is better than just itty pitty Jurassic City?
Gareth Edwards’s is what’s giving me hope as he has a history with legacy franchises and doing them well, just look at Godzilla 2014 and rogue one
I don't care who's name is attached at this point, they could say they're bringing back Steven Spielberg to direct and are going to necromance Michal Crichton back from the grave to write the script and I still would have my doubts. Crichton himself didn't even want The Lost World he was just paid to write up a script for a second movie and I mention this as someone who has lots of love for The Lost World. He's rolling in his grave at what they've done to it now.
Rogue One wasn't good. Godzilla was a decent American take on the IP though.

@@jackallenproductions I would say without the Vader scene in Rogue One that Solo was slightly better but I don't find any of the Disney movies to be much good.
What's good about rogue one isn't so much the film, it's moments in the film like the Vader appearances and for my book the tarkin parts but the story and the original characters didn't really do it for me. I would put it below all 6 of the original movies pretty easily.
Now that might not be Gareth's fault since he was director and not the writer per se.

its probably a sequel that has flashback scenes from dominion in Malta or starts where they left off in Malta. Wouldnt be surprised if the movie runs linear in time with dominion and shows the POV of agents in Malta and their chase to shut down the black market.
Or it could be a movie about people trying to escape the island of Malta after the dinosaurs break out of the black market.

Hi Klayton! Im Davide from Italy. I doubt it will be a prequel, unless it tells a totally unknown story. We should check to see if we have any merely hinted at events in the Jurassic Park trilogy that could be covered in a new film (and probably a whole new trilogy). I wouldn't mind a new sequel, which maybe doesn't necessarily have to happen AFTER Dominion but DURING. I would like to see what impact dinosaurs may have had around the world, also interacting with currently existing animals (not in a fairy-tale way like at the end of Dominion where the mosasaur becomes friends with the humpback whales, rather imagine a carnotaur fighting an elephant or something similar). I would like to delve deeper into these topics, which they didn't do in Dominion (where in 2 and a half hours they covered human cloning, mafia trafficking of dinosaurs, amateur fights between dinosaurs, intensive farming, nature reserves, agricultural economic systems, exploitation of hunger in the world, prehistoric insects, dinosaurs with Joker-style dramatic pasts, etc.) These are all interesting topics but poorly treated. If Dominion had limited itself to a global recovery of dinosaurs and observation of how the situation would have evolved it would have been perfect, ending the credits with a giant locust coming out of a corn field would have been mind-blowing and exciting. They could have created a third trilogy about some illegal group threatening the planet by releasing prehistoric insects, parasites etc...
It is what it is now.
I just hope they don't actually create human-dinosaur hybrids but I highly doubt it. Let's hope so! Un abbraccio! Ciao!

Personally, if you had to ask me two things I want them to do with this movie, they would be :
A. Channel Crichton’s message of Man vs Nature, with man being arrogent and ignorant while nature being the inevitable winner through the chaos caused by the dinosaurs because nature is essentially existance.
B. If they can, somehow, mabey it’s already in the script, can they please bring back Isabella Sermon. While I may have not liked Maise’s brutish behaviour for the first half of the film, overall she was a character that I personally thought was the most intresting to watch and by far carries the most potential for the future. Just in general, Isabella probably had the best acting of the whole cast, especially when you compare her to Jeff Golblum who was basically just playing himself for the whole movie despite having a 30 year+ acting experience advantage. It’s evident by now that she is really talented and not using her would be a massive waste.
Im fine with them continuing on from where Dominion left off. It’s risky, but if they can correct the many, many flaws of Dominion then they may just end up saving the franchise from curtain death, thats great. Thialand, im all for, Malta, im sceptical about because I really don’t want them to follow up what happened in Malta in the last movie. Saying that chaos will unfold then randomly having humanity sell the dinosaurs off to their own disposal, its not Jurassic at all it actually goes against Crichton’s message in the first place.
Having Scarlett be the main protagonist instead of Dwanda is probably a good thing, I never really liked her character she just felt like a femenist mascot, which is good to see, but it felt like that was the only reason she was their because she had no real relavence to the story in my opinion.
I’m excited but spectical, thats all I can say.

This movie seems like less of a last ditch effort to milk the dying cow, and more of a sincere attempt at reviving a once thriving franchise.
And that could just explain the expedited production process. I really hope they revive the franchise here, because another bad instalment will permanently end this saga.
Taiwan could be where the velociraptors were trying to migrate to in the original novel since they were originally discovered in Asia . Perhaps a small village in Taiwan is over run in velociraptors ?
Very hopeful about this. Reminds me a lot of the JP comics from the 90s (similar story but set in Brazil).
I'd much rather want the prequel - a prologue was sorely missing from JW.

Maybe Thailand is just a shooting location because of its beauty and tropical look, and maybe it takes place around the same time as the last but is based on a different characters perspective.
Since Thailand is on the mainland, has a lot of villages and farmland as well as large wild animals they could showcase dinosaurs being an invasive species to the environment like raiding farms eating crops and killing livestock and people as well as well as the introduction of large predators like T. rex and so on hunting already endangered species like elephants and tigers.

This is interesting information, but only time would tell if this new Jurassic story movie is either a prequel, a sequel or a reboot.
I just can't seem to fathom or understand why Universal and Amblin are seemingly so apprehensive about doing a prequel or going back to the original trilogy, especially when so many fans want that! It's just bizarre to me.🤷🏻♂️
My only guess would be name recognition, kids want to see JURASSIC WORLD, they want to see their favorite dinosaur Blue, they want to know the universe they're in and buy the resulting toys and games and lunchboxes. I imagine it'd be pretty difficult to convince the higher-ups at Universal to greenlight anything that would change that, regardless of quality. It's ironic that they've legitimately become the concept that they criticized in both Park and World.

After the enormous success that the tv show Shogun has seen on FX, it really makes me long for a Jurassic Park television series that is based on Michael Crichton’s original novels. As they were originally presented, not adapted to screenplay for a movie but the full authentic Jurassic Park story. And FX is the perfect network to run it. I would even recommend the same show runners.
I still have hope in David Koepts' script and Gareth Edwards directing skills.
Honestly, from what I've heard, Jurassic City isn't too far of a stretch when you think about it. Now from what I have heard about the script, they said it's got a really kind of Escape from New York feel about it. I had to go back and watch that movie again and it really gave me more ideas about what the movie might look like and if anyone is curious, I'd highly suggest go watch that movie with Kurt Russel please forgive my spelling if I spelled his name wrong, but after watching it, I was REALLY excited about the possibilities of how this movie will turn out!! Make us JP fans proud David Koepp!!!
The "escape from new york with dinosaurs" rumor was denied by people working on the production.
I don’t understand why dominion is so hated… it left a lot of stuff open to explore further.
One thing I disliked about it was the entire locust plot which took up 2/3s of the movie but to me the dinosaur sequences were good.
I don’t really care if this one is another “sub par” movie
If it has basically like 30 minutes of the run time dedicated to battle at big rock type sequences I’ll be happy with it.

Pretty worrying tbh, I was excited when the production staff was announced but I knew I wouldn't be interested in a JW4 continuation, and this is starting to sound like that. I'm not sure how they keep slipping up and not taking us back to a smaller-scale thriller. A reboot or prequel would be fine. But doubling down on a concept that failed for the previous release, and that was heavily criticized for the release prior to that, seems asinine. I know I shouldn't expect much from Universal or any major studio because the only thing they care about is the kind of merchandise they can sell post-release, but I was really hoping that someone would care enough to change things up.
I don't mind it taking place around Dominion because that way we could get a scene of the Quetzalcoatlus hunting humans.

I think they will try to make this be the Jurassic World Dominion that it should be. I too am a little bummed that they’re not gonna try any filming in California but prayerfully that will change.
I am hoping for more dinosaurs in the world, interacting with people, like what we saw a little bit of in the last movie, but not nearly enough. Dinosaurs living in the wild in the rainforests of Thailand sound really interesting. Imagine a T-Rex roaring next to a temple in the jungle with a giant Buddha, that would be a cool shot. I have no idea about Jurassic City... I just hope they're not trying to re-do the original with a new location for a Jurassic Park, but you never know with film people! Honestly though, just give me dinosaurs and please let old Rexie from the first movie still be around 😁

i am hoping for something like Dinosaurs are breading faster than ever and that is becoming a problem for villagers in thailand, (kind of like the compy plot in the Lost World book)
No dino heroes though, let them be animals, no need to give them a dog like personality like blue, these are tiny brain animals they dont have feelings
It would be fun if it would be about dinos adapting to cities like wild animals do. Like raccoons, foxes etc. In India, leopards always sneak into cities for a midnight snack. Or imagine the face of a dino as if asking "what do you mean this barking snack is not for me to eat".

Swrve is actively pushing misinformation and trying to convince people that the filming in Malta is some how "fake news".
Taking place after Dominion isn’t bad at all. It just SEEMS bad because Dominion was bad. Honestly if you took the concepts of illegal dinosaur trading, the destruction of Nublar, a fully functioning park and dinosaurs free in the world, and actually had solid writing/direction behind it, the JW trilogy could have been great. But it wasn’t because they were just shitty movies. I’m more optimistic about this new reboot because I trust Edwards / Koepp a lot more than Trevorrow. I watched ‘Safety Not Guaranteed’ before the release of JW and remember thinking it was such a WTF move to hand over the revival of the JP franchise to him, but this time around we actually have talent on board. Not only that, we have a director who clearly gets the first movie and the writer who actually WROTE the first movie. It still might be shit but we’re in the best possible spot we could hope for, if you ask me. A prequel could also work but doesn’t remedy or fix the utter shitpile that was left after Dominion. Eventually someone will have to clean up after that mess so I’d rather they hand the baton over to those with talent than another random like Trevorrow.
I've heard nothing about this that has held my interest, yet. I have no idea what they could do. I'm super looking forward to Chaos Theory, though.
I'd love to see an actual search for Rexy played out onscreen, perhaps having it be the main plot of the movie. Every other time she was captured it was done offscreen. Have people track her in a very real-feeling location like a national park. Furthermore I'd like to see a fair fight between a dinosaur and a modern mammal, ie. one of the smaller herbivores being preyed on by a bear. And then in a twist on the "villain gets what coming to them" trope, the bear is finally taken out by Rexy.

OK so I agree that the title is terrible, and I got the feeling the moive is going to be set after Dominion and not precwall like we where hoping for unfortunately 😢. Hello there! I’ve been watching and listening to your videos since before JW came out. Big fan of yours. Honestly, I don’t have high hopes on this new JP movie. The last two installments left a bad taste in my eyes. But who knows, maybe this new movie is the rendition of JP we all have been waiting for. My suspicion is that the storyline for this new film will take place at the same time as when dominion happened. I don’t think it will be based on events after JWD. If the producers want to correct the messes that Dominion left us with, it makes more sense to create a separate story taking place at the same time elsewhere. That’s just my opinion. Take care!

Never been more divided on an upcoming movie. Like the writer, director seems up to the task, and no problems with Johansson. I just don’t know if the movie will still be what I want in the next movie (selfish, I know). My favorite scenes from the past movies are the Raptor/workers village from TLW and the Aviary/embryonics scene from JP3. Something about overgrown buildings with dinosaurs was always cool and had hoped that a future movie would soon take us to an abandoned aquarium like structure on Site B or the Park and see some aquatic creatures. Such a scene isn’t quite likely for a movie set after Dominion. Hoping for the best nonetheless.
Thailand is a cool, beautiful location and could very well work for a dinosaur location--so agree with Klayton on that, not too bothered. But I am bothered by Malta. That's a concerning sign.
Also that is a LONG shooting schedule for a movie in this day and age that isn't a back to back LOTR situation.
The only way to deal with the bed that was made is to let the voice be heard through our wallets.
I gave Jurassic World a chance, didn't like it and made it known for the rest of the trilogy by not paying to see the rest. As these rumors and information compiles I am making my own decision about seeing or not seeing. Right now it is leaning toward not.
The people in charge will never know they are doing wrong unless we show them in the only way they understand...with our money.

Now that I think about it...
If Jurassic "City" was like some El Dorado ruins infested with dinosaurs like in Rampage Edition and Thailand was a stand in for Costa Rica/Central America....that would certainly be acceptable.
I’ve loved the JP and JW novels and movies since I was little but at this point, I’m kinda spent on the franchise. I have zero excitement for another film. An example of the many reasons why is Rexy, I love her, she’s badass but how many times are they going to have her fight the big bad, fake die, then jump back up like nothing happened and kill the big bad with help of another best friend Dino. It’s just a tired trope. Unless they make it like a fairly hardcore horror movie I’ll probably skip this one in the theaters
I am in essentially the same boat as you, my single most cherished theater experience was seeing the original Jurassic Park in 1993 when I was five years old. For me the series started slide pretty bad around JP3 but something about JP3 despite it's convoluted silly plot still felt somewhat like a Jurassic Park movie should feel like, at least to me. Starting at Jurassic World though it just became a Marvel esque action film with Dinosaurs.
Could it be sort of like the new planet of the apes movie coming out this year? Like yea it's a city but nature has taken over and the dinosaurs rule it while Scarlett Johansson's character is like some bad ass salvager like character that goes in there to find something that Ingen hid away to help with the dinosaurs so that it is a sequel to Dominion but include prequel scenes?
I still can't believe OG cast members even came back for dominion. The only one that gets to actually do anything was Malcom and that was cringy and insulting. I was so confused after the movie when everyone in my theater was talking enthusiastically about everything that happened in the movie. Like did we watch the same movie? It was like last jedi all over again. At least they didn't do character assassinations. They just brought back the OGs and didn't do anything with them. I wanted to like dominion so bad. That was the first movie I drove myself to go see after getting my drivers license.
I know all the jurassic park movies are supposed to be family friendly but one thing I've always wanted to see was a rated R true horror film. Idk about anyone else but thats just what the books felt like to me. Just absolute survival in its purest form. The whole jurassic city thing sounds pretty dumb to me though, y not make it where people r camping and stranded trying to survive in the middle of the woods. Battle of big rock gave me a slight taste of it and I absolutely LOVED it. One of the best short films in my opinion. Just so tired of these damn near tamed dinosaurs. They were made bigger meaner and with "more teeth", give me that give me a horror survival and make it feel to me as an adult what jurassic park and lost world felt to me as a kid... just once
Jurassic city is not gonna be the final title...everyone is freaking out for nothing...I ve heard some rumors saying it s between jp1 and jp2
Not sure how to feel about this. At this point I'm mostly numb when it comes to the JP Verse. I don't have a lot of hope.
I'm not sure what to make if these shooting locations sound interesting, though. I'd love to see more scenes from the books, though, like the camouflage carnotaurs scene, even if they use different dinosaurs. I'd also love to see a proper river raft scene
I think they should go into a planet of the apes approach and do a trilogy where dinosaurs spread a virus to humans. It was hinted at in the books and I think a post apocalypse build up would be awesome
I’m ok with them continuing from Dominion. I loved the idea of dinosaurs out in the world but they didn’t really explore it in the movie itself.
Guess we just have to see what they have in store when it comes out
I think this movie is going to be a reboot of the original film (Jurassic City is what I believe is a purposeful hoax by the writers) and maybe take the book’s approach to the original plot

I still have that gross locust taste in my mouth from Dominion. Like…2 movies focused on getting dinos off the island and now all of a sudden…locusts? Who thought that would make senses?
Honestly, due to the trouble production and limitations "Dominion" had during filming, because of The COVID-19 Pandemic/Quarantine Rules, Dominion ended up being an unsatisfied creation, with limited results. This so-called Jurassic Park Reboot/Jurassic World 4 is probably a Project just to make up for the let down of "Dominion", and I genuinely hope that this project will have maximum results to create the Proper Ending for the Franchise.
I actually think that, though is a chance that this is not a new story because of the main character, being female, and the Director, having directed a Star Wars prequel rogue one I think this may be a movie adaptation for the evolution of clair
It would be cool if the Jurassic City was ancient ruins in the jungle, like you hinted at earlier. I think that would be cool if they were trapped there and maybe it was a bit labyrinthine. Maybe not raptors but a more mid sized dino like Allosaurus or Carnotaurus. Something that is kind of limited by the tighter confines but not T Rex huge but not raptor small so it cant quite get everywhere. Maybe theres a lot of stone buildings it cant get into and cant just knock over.
Hell maybe its the aftermath of the black market scene and its happening while the rest of Dominion is going on. With the allo and carno running about with andthose raptors are free. Your guess is as good as mine. No clue fo rme
