  • Friends I am going to make a heavy 2 channel power amplifier with 500watts RMS per channel. In this video Iam making a power supply for that. Each channel is powered by seperate power supplies and so I have to make two of them.
    The transformer Iam using has two sets of 55-0-55 V winding. Each winding will be connected to seperate power supplies of each channel.
    The Blank PCB was bought from Vrinda Electronics Thakarapparambu Thiruvananthapuram at ₹100/- per piece.
    The Capacitors and Diode Bridge are bought from The Brand Guru UA-cam channel.
    Other small components are bought from etstore.in

    I also modified the PCB by adding discharge resistors for the capacitors and led indicators for positive and negative supplies
    Actually discharge resistors are not needed when the power supply is kept connected to the amplifier boards. But I will be experimenting with the power supply boards and amplifier boards and if the capacitors are left with full charge it will create problems while connecting to various amplifier boards. So I have to make sure that the capacitors are discharged fully before connecting to a circuit. That's why Iam adding discharge resistors. Those who follow my video to make a power supply need not to be add such resistors if not necessary. The power supply will work fine without that resistors. Once kept the power supply board inside the amplifier cabinet and connected to the amplifier boards no discharging is needed.
