Sana Ngayong Pasko - Divo Bayer - Cover

Song # 13 is Sana Ngayong Pasko. Divo Bayer and I performed this around 6 or 7 years ago at Ft. Mckinley, So. San Francisco, and we decided to add this much requested song using Darryl Ong's version. I was so happy when Divo agreed to join my music project. despite his very hectic schedule. He's currently active on Kumu, and gigs, as the band scene is starting to get
normal again.
Divo Bayer is a known Filipino singer for his hit songs like “Ba’t Di Mo Na Kaya”, “Bakit Hindi” and the hit song “Ngayong Nandito Ka” from the movie of the same title. He garnered the title as the only "Emperor of the Soul" of the country and the only Filipino male performer who can whistle like Mariah Carey. He was named Divo, from the notion of a male diva, by the famous Ella Mae Siason.
As most of you know, I have left the music profession in 1995 as my left ear got fractured, so I decided to go back to my course (Web / Graphic Design). However, music is in our blood, and also a good therapy. You will always look for it, especially when you meet other musicians you knew back home.
I first met Divo at The Summit Bar in So. San Jose in late 2011 when Gina Rondez and I had our DOS Gig after 10 years of resting from the music scene. If I remember, he jammed with us and sang Loving You. A few months later, I played keyboards for him for his Winter Sonata at the
same venue.
Soon after that, we had more gigs all over the Bay Area, wherein I was able to work with musicians who used to be members of the Manila band circuit as well. He has opened a lot of doors for me, being able to play keyboards for local artists, as well as Filipino artists who come here from the Philippines to sing for our Filipino Community.
Divo! Thank you for taking part in this project, and keeping in touch! Hopefully when all is totally back to normal, we get to perform again. Salamat sa lahat!
