To my fellow Guardians, I am filled with gratitude for the incredible journey we’ve shared over the past decade. Together, we’ve faced countless challenges, forged unbreakable bonds, and crafted a legacy that will be remembered for generations. Every battle, every sacrifice, and every triumph has brought us closer, making us not just allies but a family. Now, as we turn the page to a new chapter, it’s time to look ahead and embrace the future with hope and determination. The road before us is filled with unknowns, but also infinite possibilities. It’s a time for new beginnings, fresh challenges, and the chance to shape our destinies in ways we’ve never imagined. Each of us has dreams waiting to be pursued, and the courage to turn them into reality. To each and every Guardian who has fought by my side, your strength, resilience, and unwavering dedication have been a constant source of inspiration. You have made this journey not just possible, but extraordinary. As we look to the future, let us carry forward the lessons we’ve learned and the bonds we’ve formed, and use them as fuel to follow our dreams. Whether your path leads you to explore new worlds, master new skills, or make a difference in your community, know that you have the strength and courage to achieve anything you set your mind to. Here’s to ten years of adventure, camaraderie, and heroism. And to the countless possibilities that await us as we go out into the world and follow our dreams. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for everything. Eyes up, Guardians.

When I was finally in remission from cancer, Destiny really got me to be me again. Massive ptsd, pushing everyone away. My husband and I started playing together and it felt good to connect again. This song means a lot to me, I literally cry every time. ❤
I never played D1, but this song has such a nostalgic feeling to it. It makes me feel like I've joined something that has grown, persevered, and will stand the test of time. Yes, I have hope for the future, Destiny.
Today's the day. The finale of the 10 year story. I've loved every minute of it. Felt pretty good to come back and listen to this after the final mission of Final Shape. Thanks for a great song Sir Paul, and thanks for a great game Bungie
Um. Why do people hate this song? Like, musically there really isn't anything wrong with it. He sounds pretty good and the music was pretty cool. Lyrics were kinda "this is a song about destiny bleh bleh" but I mean, the level of hate from people is a bit excessive :I
Mark King Guess that would make sense considering I can't recall a song by him. Regardless, it isn't terrible. People are acting as if this is "Friday" quality. Which it isn't
Mark King .... You mean the classic Paul McCartney lyrics like - AHEM - *"Baby, I'm a man, And maybe you're the only woman who could ever help me. Baby, won't you help me to understand? Ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, Oh, oh, oh, Oh, oh, oh, oh, Oh."* Yeah. This song is sooooo much worse. /s
I can imagine this being played in the ship of the Guardians GOTG style. “Hey guys, got this song.” “What is it man?” “Found it in Cayde’s old stache... Banshee slowly recognized it, but the others said it was Cayde’s favorite song.” “Damn, well play it and get some drinks out.”
"Whether we wanted it or not, we've lost our Commander of the Light. So let's get to honouring his greatness and contribution to our community and achievements, one by one. Commander Zavala, better known as Lance Reddick. From what I can gather he commanded the Guardians of the Light and inspired many brave souls on planet Earth to become legend and inspired those around him. He's well protected by those who love and adore him. He leaves his mark on many of us today and we were fortunate enough to be graced by such an amazing person." Rest in Peace Lance Reddick, Commander Zavala. Hope shines brightest in the dark Where nothing's ever seen Lighting undiscovered places No-one's ever been. Thank you for being our shining beacon of Light.
I don't know why everybody is hating on this song. Paul can still write some great songs and can sing great for a 72 year old and for you to expect his newer stuff to be as good as his Beatles and Wings stuff is just crazy. We're lucky for someone as talented and as legendary as him to still be putting out music.. especially among all the crap that is out there. Paul, you're the best!
I agree with you completely. I posted a general comment about the song above. Paul McCartney was interviewed live on the WGN morning news today. He talked about this song, and compared it to making "Live And Let Die". He knew, of course, that the song was for a video game--that is why the video looks like that. For me, I think it sounds great. And he was sharp and focused during the interview. I found it hard to believe that was a 72 year old man.
This would be even doper if there was an Easter egg in destiny of paul McCartney's ghost with a hologram of him in a cave and this song is playing when u are near him
I would really love that but Journey would also be a good one to represent our journey as a guardian and as a game, from the darkest days to the brightest moments
Damn whats everyone whining about? If you dont like the song then fuck off, there is no need to be so rude. Personally, I loved it. I think Paul's newest songs (including his album NEW of course) are amazing, and I say that genuinely.
That's exactly what I thought. People should be grateful to Paul McCartney for still making new songs like this one. He's the best music composer of all time after all! :)
Mark King And I suppose everything you think and do is right? Because you are Mr. Perfect? Hate to break it to ya Mark, but "Opinions" are neither right or wrong, want to know what an opinion is? "A view or judgment formed about something." I can say I like Paul's new music, you can say you dont. Its all based on how we personally view things, doesnt mean neither of us is right or wrong.
Been hearing this song in that one Lost Sector, and I keep thinking, "Man, that sounds like Paul McCartney. But there's no way." *Finally Googles it* 😮
I’ve been playing Destiny for almost 10 years of my life. Spending time sitting by the old jukebox in the tower never knowing there was actually a full song. Thank you Paul, and thank you Bungie.
This song really shows how even as things are shaping following the end of the Lightfall campaign, like Mr. McCartney said here in "Hope for the Future", Light shines brightest in the dark where nothing is seen, and how hope for the future is coming. It will come when we stop the Witness in The Final Shape, as long as we believe we can prevent its goals for absolute finality for the universe and as long as we persevere.
I remember late nights hanging out in the old tower by the jukebox just listening to this song play... I miss those days. -a guardian who still has hope for the future May 12th, 2021
One of the greatest McCartney songs ever. Simple but so effective. And I've heard them all including his symphonies, Beatles, and Wings of course. He is more than a gifted musician, he is a VIRTUOSO (he is the entire world's current, still living, virtuoso OF MELODY).
Cloudy Daze With all the crappy shit on the charts now, yes I agree, his song isn't shitty and senseless enough as the Rihanna's and Wheezy's out there. This song doesn't kill your braincells dammit, therefore it flies straight over the top of our heads. Songs with messages are like instructional videos for this generation. Totally overlooked and ignored.
Destiny 1, a true gem. I don’t think I will ever play a game that I want to play more than I did Destiny. What a time. Cheers for helping me remember Paul.
Eric Montgomery I guess I wouldn’t say it’s dead, more rather dry. Not many people playing it, but a good margin. The reason I say “dead” is because I never find crucible matches, or a full strike squad. So, no, it isn’t really dead.
Yeah and wrecked Destiny's internal consistency in the process. Fan service stumbling over respect for the material once again undermining the entire setting, this time catastrophically.
How does this ONLY have a million views??!?!?! One of the best songs I've heard in my LIFE. Paul McCartney knows how to make true, passionate, meaningful music.
That's sad how people simply don't get that this is meant to be a GAME song. It fits perfectly. About the songwritting and the music, you people don't get it either! A musician is made of inspiration and influences... From 1961 to 1970 it's almost ridiculous to talk about Paul, really, I don't wanna go down there, I really don't wanna talk about how he became the greatest of all times in 9 years. But alright, The Beatles was over, he got deeply depressed, but his wife Linda and his love for the nature and the world got him back at it. McCartney (The Cherry Album), Ram, Red Rose Speedway, Band On The Run, Venus and Mars... Yea, the guy still had it on him. Even without the biggest inspiration (George, John and Ringo) near him, he could use his love for Linda and his memories from the lads to do music. John passed away in 1980. It was almost the end for Paul. His inspiration almost died, it was badly sick and nobody could know if it was ever gonna come back again. It did, not like it was before, but it did. Tug of War was good (special attention to the tune Here Today, symbolizing all his pain). Then he went down for 15 years without a good album. In 1995, as if Paul hadn`t been through enough yet, Linda was diagnosed with breast cancer. 2 years later, Flaming Pie was released, a great album, really melancholic feeling and you could feel his hope drying. In 1999 LINDA MCCARTNEY WAS DEAD and in 2001 GEORGE HARRISON PASSED AWAY TOO. I don't know if it's clear for you, but his band broke up, his 2 best friends and his wife died tragically, the three of them. But no, fucking NO, he wasn't done with the music and with us. He still wanted to give us the best music, he kept trying, trying, trying, and in 2005 he released Chaos And Creation In The Backyar. No, dear, it's NO Abbey Road, it's no Revolver, nor Sgt. Peppers, but it IS a great album. Jenny Wren is a really good tune. And yet, after all that, he still gets hate from people with no heart and sense of music, sense of Rock'n'Roll. Rock is not about getting a guitar and screaming at the top of your head, it's about inspiration, it's about creating The Long And Winding Road "trying to do an interpretation of Ray Charles", or even "trying to sing like Elvis", it's about getting a piece of paper and writting your feelings, your thoughts and your hopes. Grow up to the Rock'n'Roll, get over the hate and respect the greatest musician of the planet's history.
Matheus Mello So what if the inspiration is a game. A good song is a good song and should be able to stand on its own. Dont tell me if you were playing halo and had to sit through this shit every time before you play the game you wouldnt skip it after one listen?
All of these negative comments reflect the state of our society. Great piece of music. The video is aimed to look like a video game not a CGI masterpiece take it or leave it. If you have nothing nice to say don't say anything at all.
TLDR: Quite a good song, odd choice of partnerships, people seem to be overreacting. I quite like the song as it reminds me of Miracle of Sounds work and the flow is nice and while Paul isn't on the same level he used to be he is still a very talented individual. I'm quite surprised that people would be so hostile, disapproving I can understand but aggressive? The game in question is Destiny and it looks like they used graphics and animations from the game; it doesn't look quite right when contrasted against a recording of an actual person but I appreciate them keeping it honest. I understand why some people may have grievances with the song as Paul was essentially 'bought' for the part but they do need to remember that there were plenty of Beatles songs that weren't written with soul but just to sell albums.
^ Give that man (Andrew) a cookie. I agree. Paul does what he pleases with his music because he wants to, and because he enjoys it. He's always tried out new things. Some will love it, some will hate it, but I don't think he minds either way. He does what he chooses to. C'mon people! The song and video were for a VIDEO GAME! No one is trying to beat Gravity for Best Special Effects here. I find it absurd that so many people are bashing this, and still listen nonstop to the utterly ridiculous 'Break Free' from Ariana Grande....
I adore the orchestral arrangements on this song. And Paul, as always, displays his enormous talent for writing gorgeous melodies. What a versatile, powerful composer. Also, RIP, John Lennon, 34 years without you is far too much.
Reality of life... it’s not always good and this song sends hope in the sad and dark/difficult times is how it makes me feel.. better days coming... things will get brighter reminder...
He didn't write it in the 60's, he wrote it in 2014 for the game .. Still a crazy thought, no one back then could have predicted he'd be making music for video games
2019 anyone? Oh wait a minute, I’m not the only goddamn person on Earth and it is very likely someone else has watched this in the 365 days span of a year.
Today I learned most Paul McCarthney fans are terrible human beings. Personal taste in music is obviously subjective to each individual, but the mean things being aimed at him are a direct mirror reflection of everyone's personality. So I ask of you, please speak to others the way you wish to be spoken to. By the way, this song gives me goosebumps every time I hear it and I'm not even a big Beatles or Paul McCartney fan. But the song aims to inspire us to reach the stars like humankind did in the epic Destiny game, I think it's a lofty goal.
Glad to hear his real fans aren't like this. I checked the comments because I usually don't listen to his music and was curious what his fans thought of the new song (in case they didn't play the game) and then saw that loud minority with hundreds of thumbs up and was kinda shocked. Good to know I'm part of the loud majority like Anya, MrSteevieboy and Glennjridge LOL! :)
coolhypedmovies I'm making $86 an hour working from home. I was shocked when my neighbour told me she was averaging $95 but I see how it works now. I feel so much freedom now that I'm my own boss. This is what I do, booth7.com ♣♣♣♣♣
I watched this not realizing it was from a video game until reading the comments. So my initial thought was, cheesy video, like the song. Now that I realize it's from a game, I think I can be more forgiving of the video. His hologram is clearly being discovered by the robots or people in mobile suits and it is inspiring them. It is a simple song with a soaring line. Effective.
The Final Shape drops today. I just hope that it is what we thought it would be. Either way I'm finishing it the same way I entered. Solo, but there's nothing wrong with that.
@@ウーター-c7h your almost spot on d2 crucible is in a pretty bad place rn and they just keep making the same 6 player game modes for each dlc. For me I only return for the events and raids other than that nothing else interests me
I get so many feelings from this song and video. One, it's a powerful song fitting for many 70s fantasy or sci-fi sound tracks. It's got this very Never Ending Story feel. But it's also the man behind it. Younger generations don't know how influential he was. If you like any artist today chances are they were influenced by The Beatles in some way or influenced by an artist who was influenced by The Beatles. I learned about The Beatles in school which turned into a huge interest of mine outside of school, then my dad had all the records and was into Wings, and my sister is still obsessed with The Beatles and Wings to this day. When I first saw this music video it really made we want to be part of the Destiny world which I have been for 5 years. I've made friends with other players online who were once strangers. I've read some amazing lore and I've overall overcame some challenging gameplay, which really gets rid of the depression. I'm autistic and have dyspraxia so yes playing an online multiplayer designed for hardcore players is challenging for me. The video brings back a lot of that Destiny 1 nostalgia too. So, thank you Paul for doing this song for Destiny. To those players that think the song is lame I say to them: listen to another genre besides death metal.
Here we stand, at the precipice of all things. The Witness has been defeated, the Traveler's light finally healing after who knows how long. Though we may still have enemies lurking out there beyond our sun, the universe, and our future, look just a bit brighter now that the greatest threat of all is gone for good. There may be anomalies to resolve in the wake of the Witness's death, but for now... we celebrate. Maybe someday soon, we can finally bring about a second Golden Age, now that the second Collapse we feared for so long has been prevented. Per audacia ad astra. Per contentionem, viam nostram excudimus.
Some hope for the future Some wait for the call To say that the days ahead Will be the best of all We will build bridges Up to the sky Heavenly lights surrounding You and I Hope for the future It's coming soon enough How much can we achieve? Hope for the future It will belong to us If we believe If we believe Hope shines brightest in the dark When nothing's ever seen Lighting undiscovered places No-ones ever been ///////////////////////////// From out of the darkness Our future will come If we leave the past behind We'll fly beyond the sun We will build bridges Up to the sky Heavenly lights surrounding You and I Hope shines brightest in the dark Where nothing's ever seen Lighting undiscovered places No-one's ever been Hope for the future Hope for the future Hope for the future....

Paul, you're the best!
it's only that we don't like the video - but Paul didn't make the video!
bjoybeads
Yeah I mean, I didnt have a problem with the song, I know some people have been complaining about it. But this video is horrible.

That's exactly what I thought. People should be grateful to Paul McCartney for still making new songs like this one. He's the best music composer of all time after all! :)

This song really shows how even as things are shaping following the end of the Lightfall campaign, like Mr. McCartney said here in "Hope for the Future", Light shines brightest in the dark where nothing is seen, and how hope for the future is coming. Cloudy Daze With all the crappy shit on the charts now, yes I agree, his song isn't shitty and senseless enough as the Rihanna's and Wheezy's out there.
I wish people would get that, really.
Matheus Mello
So what if the inspiration is a game.

I understand why some people may have grievances with the song as Paul was essentially 'bought' for the part but they do need to remember that there were plenty of Beatles songs that weren't written with soul but just to sell albums.
thats actually ingame stuff
^ Give that man (Andrew) a cookie. I agree. Paul does what he pleases with his music because he wants to, and because he enjoys it. He's always tried out new things. Some will love it, some will hate it, but I don't think he minds either way. He does what he chooses to. C'mon people! The song and video were for a VIDEO GAME! No one is trying to beat Gravity for Best Special Effects here. I find it absurd that so many people are bashing this, and still listen nonstop to the utterly ridiculous 'Break Free' from Ariana Grande....

Me too it's a fab Christmas song.
Yeah, indeed it is is Anya! ^_^
Glad to hear his real fans aren't like this. I checked the comments because I usually don't listen to his music and was curious what his fans thought of the new song (in case they didn't play the game) and then saw that loud minority with hundreds of thumbs up and was kinda shocked.

Effective.

After hearing the entirety of Music of the Spheres I have much more respect for this song.
