I literally studied Deion as a kid and when I switched to DB in high school, I used this same tactic repeatedly and got an interception nearly every game using it. But to do it as often as he did on a professional level is other worldly.

@@IKEBULLTV he was quiet a good tackler, he used his speed and common sense to tackle, mostly just got in the way of ball carriers but he really was as good as anybody against the run because he came up so quickly in run support. He was not a thumper, but I don’t know of many sane mature DB’s who intentionally get in front of a 225 pound running back with a full head of steam. Attacking from the flank or feigning injury are far better alternatives if a long career is something you want. LOL. I’d forgotten how good he was returning kicks and punts. He would hunt for that crease and hit it at just the right time. He probably figured how to perfect that tactic as a boy and by time he was in the NFL it was so second nature to him that he was damn near indefensible as a returner. And he is an example of the tremendous advantage you have as the fastest player on the field, a lot can be done if no one can keep up with you. Can’t coach speed.

He almost had nearly 2 MORE INTERCEPTIONS over Rocket Ishmael, by out running & racing him to the ball 🏈!!! That's sooo crazy how MUCH MORE FASTER DEION REALLY WAS, than all the other known speed demons like Rocket. The crazy thing about Deion, is that he never ever trained for speed or trained to get faster like other fast receivers would do. The punter from the Colts got him because he suffered a concussion the prior week and should not have been playing. He was throwing up on the sideline. He had heart to go with the skill. Thanks coach!

These highlights are the best I've seen of prime because it doesn't just show his touch downs or interceptions...
It shows how much of a problem he was and always a inch from having way more touch downs and interceptions...
If they counted everytime he got a hand on the ball and maybe didn't bring it in then it would probably be waaaaaaaay more than the nearest player...

I think Deion was more successful covering Rice than Irvin. This is funny since we all know that Rice was the WR GOAT. Maybe Deion had problems with Irvin game style.

I have to admit I had somewhat bought I to the narrative that Deion wasn't a physical player but this video totally disproves that to me. No he wasn't laying dudes out, but he would stick em when necessary, and spent most of his time going for the ball. I wonder if anybody ripped at the ball that much after the catch before Deion. Now every DB does it. He could talk all he wanted because he truly backed it up on the field. Amazing player.

      Weird.
