HI, as a kid I recall G.I. Joe #2 was considered "scarce" and in demand. I went to a classmate's house to buy it but his mom wouldn't allow him to sell it. I finally grabbed a copy last year haha
that's lit bro. I have not watched Evan in more than 9 years I think. Man i am so nostalgic about angry birds and I remembered my childhood hero bruv. I legit enjoyed watching him. Send him a big salute from me.
As a 15 year seeing these huge keys boggles my mind. I hope one day I can own these books! But your collection is amazing and will only continue to grow!
Hey DT! Thinking of collecting CGC comics. Would love to see you do a video explaining what CGC comics are, and what to look for when buying them so you don’t get scammed. Thanks.
Thanks for the idea. In the meantime, collecting graded comics is relatively safe. Just know who you are buying from or use a payment method with some sort of buyer protection. When it comes to the comics themselves, request a lot of photos and when you receive them check for obvious signs of tampering. Slabs take a lot of the guessing out of grading, but even “professional” graders miss things.
Nice collection and yes I have all those I grew up Marvel but matured DC I have to say Batman and Detective are in my opinion the most exciting titles to collect
Hey Dt thinking of collecting CHC comics. Would love to see you do a video explaining what CGC comics are,and what to look for buying them so you don't get scammed. Thanks 🙏
A couple of years ago i stopped collecting comics but now i started a youtube channel about comics so i got back into it and i own comics varying from era to era but you should do a cgc submission video
Great collection videos! I especially enjoyed some of the background stories as I was collecting late 80s / early 90s myself (TF#1, NM#98, GIJoe#1, etc). I came across this video while researching what raw books I should be slabbing. If there is any chance of soliciting a little advice it would be appreciated! Thanks
Glad you enjoyed the video! Which books you slab depends on your personal preferences and whether you’re planning on selling. For me, I don’t sell anything and I slab books because I like the look, protection and peace of mind when showing others the collection. It makes sense to slab major keys with high dollar values. But I’ve bought slabs of covers I just thought were cool. I would slab all the ones you mentioned if high grade. Silver Age keys are going for big money these days. I see a lot of activity on low grade SA, now that the high grades are out of reach for many. Check out the GoCollect to see the Top selling books for different Ages.
Worked at a comic shop in the 90’s and the store owner told me that they always print a large number of issue 1 of a title and then the 2 book is always printed less so it is harder to find typically. Could alway be a cameo as well
In the 1980s there were not a lot of comic book stores at the time, mainly drug store spinner racks and news stands where someone could purchase comics. Number 2 of GI Joe was more expensive in the 80s due to lower distribution. It was harder to find, and so collectors were paying more for number 2.
For someone who is just getting into collecting comics and statues do you have any recommendations or advice? Great video by the way love your channel.
Hey DT how in the heck did you keep the books you bought off the rack in the 80s in incredible condition ?! My hats off to you! When I was a kid I would buy the book, read it, then toss it in a milk crate lol. Completely oblivious to their collectibility and value over time Lol!
Cool vid! I had a lot of books signed when I was a kid collector back in the late 80's-early 90's. I thought if a book had an existing signature and was submitted to CGC, it got a different colored label with something like "unknown signature on 1st page" or something like that?
Signatures and labels can be a little tricky with CGC. If it is signed on the inside, you can get a blue label with text notating “name” was written on first page in ink (or something similar). When a book is signed on the cover without being witnessed, it usually receives a green qualified label, also notating that something was written on the cover. I believe you can request a blue label but the grade would be lowered due to writing being on the book. Whereas a green label book would receive the grade it would have gotten had the signature not been there. In the case of unwitnessed signatures, CBCS provides signature verification if you don’t like the above CGC options. I’ve got a ton of signed books from the 90’s that I just keep in Mylar bags.
@@DTsGEEKSHOW Ah, this is the info that I've been trying to find out so a BIG "Thanks!". I did notice that CBCS service but seems like, if I'm going to have some of these types of books graded, I'm going to have to weigh the potential gain of the signature with CBCS against the downgrade grade of CGC but higher earning potential. I have 4 Kirby signed books from a show he was at in the early 80's which should probably have that verified sig from CBCS but I have about 15 Wolverine mini series #1's signed by Rubenstein which, in retrospect, maybe I shouldn't have done. Have some others like that as well like 3 copies of Hulk 180 signed by Roy Thomas. It's a dilemma as far as what grading company to use.
Yeah, GoCollects values tend to be a little lower than GPA. Not sure if it’s the sales they track or their algorithm they use for FMV. If I was buying and selling, I’d definitely use multiple sources to determine the price. But with the way the market has been lately, the values in the video were probably going to be out of date in a short time, regardless. It’ll be interesting to do an update to these videos in the future.
I should have kept my comic books in better condition and I should have bought a whole lot more cha Ching that is crazy the value of some of these books.
Those numbers are the grade given to them by a grading service based on the condition of the comic book. It’s basically on a scale of 0 to 10. The higher the number the better shape it’s in.
HI, as a kid I recall G.I. Joe #2 was considered "scarce" and in demand. I went to a classmate's house to buy it but his mom wouldn't allow him to sell it. I finally grabbed a copy last year haha
Yeah, I remember seeing that in all those in comic ads. For that reason, I always treasured #2 more than #1…until now. 😁
Another great episode! Really enjoyed! Keep up the good work!
The comic books are so hard to find. I love your videos. Keep making such amazing videos.

Liked your way of presenting top sellers/just subscribed. Keep up the great work your doing.

Giant size X-Men #1 for $4,000 was my favorite and X-Men #94 used to have em, wish I still do.
Nice man. Would love to interview you on a podcast one day and talk comics and your story of collecting.
DT when's the last box video going up? I've been waiting patiently for it!

I only have the ASM 300 9.6 but in a CBCS. Nice collection
You are really invested with comic books
I got into comic books way before I could get into stocks and real estate. So they’re sort of in my DNA now.
@@DTsGEEKSHOW so cool!

ASM is a must have for fans of Spider-Man and Daredevil.
Yeah part 3 of the top one hundred most valuable comics!😁👍🏻❤️
Ooooo
Ooooo
G.I.Joe #2 back in the 80's was more expensive because it was marked as low print run
That X-Men #4 is also the 1st Mastermind... that is important...
There’s a shockwave transformer funko pop coming out apparently it’s going to be a target exclusive
Anyone a young marvel fan here?
Nice vid mate I'm a big fan of comics and collecting them
I have the same moon knight copy that you showed with a pop character inside.
GI Joe #2 was suppose to be a smaller print run.
For someone who is just getting into collecting comics and statues do you have any recommendations or advice? Great video by the way love your channel.

I have some ghost rider appearances ! Marvel team up 91!
Batgirl but in greek. Does it worth the same? Or it must be english?
Can you do a review of LEGO tumbler
GI Joe # 2 had a large shipment damaged and there are fewer copies altogether

Cool
i need one of those ASM 300s!!!
do you have any Spiderman assassin nation plot comic series?
I think gocollects prices need to be updated lol. That FF 49 in an 8.0 is selling over $5k now

my X-Men 94 cgc 8.5 White pages universal only sold for 1950.00 on ebay, value is down as of June 25,2021.
No way home is my favorite #1 Spiderman movie.
MY DAD HAD THE GI JOE ONE IN MY GRANDPARANTS BASEMENT AND NOW IT IS MINE
Finally part 😁
Transformer 1st app is actually Marvel age 17.
How did he get a lot of comic. They’re legends.
Bangers
Bro I have a lot of these should I get them all graded
this was posted on my birthday
I have CLZ app on my phone and not all my comics have a value showing. Would you know why?
Are they newer books? I believe CLZ gets the value data from GoCollect and they don’t have FMVs for some of the less traded books.
@@DTsGEEKSHOW they are like 80-90s comic books and some more modern
Spiderman 300 with venom my dream comic
NM98 high value is recent. 20 years ago it wasn’t worth anything like it is today.
I have watched all your videos when I was 8 years old
The transformers nr 1 . 9.8 is gonna climb
What do the 9.6 or 5.5 numbers mean?

@@DTsGEEKSHOW ok thank you for telling me
I really want a new mutants 98
Now I wish I was born in the 1980s
Me to but not collecting comics i have 1 comic and I am a more gamer. I am your biggest fan of you guys.
Frost
These comic books are so hard to find
Very true
Some of the more modern ones are a lot easier to find than the older ones. The challenge is finding them at a decent price.
@@DTsGEEKSHOW yeah I have a store that sell a mix of both for less then 10 dollars
I am more of a magma person :>
I'll trade you that asm 300 for a marvel milestone amazing fantasy 15 spider man first appearance
That MMAF15 is a nice book to have. But I already have another book with a similar cover that you may see in part 4. 😁
Nice
Apologies if it's been mentioned already, GI Joe #2 slightly more valuable because it's the first full appearance of the character Kwinn.
