Thank you so much, Kaelyn! In my opinion, Notion is not ADHD-friendly, so I have a hard time creating my own template. Thank you for making one where I can keep some or all of the custom settings.

Kaelyn, this is so incredibly helpful! I've been using Trello to keep track of my assignments, and this is incredibly superior in organization! As I move through my second year as a PhD student in the humanities, I've been working on using Zotero and other tools to better organize my thoughts and research to prepare for a dissertation. I am so grateful for your continued research and modeling that you share with us on this platform!

Amazing, thank you Kaelyn! This could not be more helpful. I have been establishing my own PhD Notion Dashboard but I found it was not quite as functional and interconnected as I knew it had the potential to be. Your Notion template has come at exactly the right time. And thank you for making it a free resource - please let us know if there is any way we can support you in return!

OMG the best thing about this is seeing that someone as busy and successful as you are .... reads and naps during the day. And that you intentionally prioritize boundries and yourself like time off, and socialization. As an undergrad who is always pushing myself to do more and looking for ways to do better, be faster, get more done... its nice to see this because a huge part of my is afraid if I do this, I'll never get anything done, but then (obviously) I get burnt out SO fast and it's an uphill battle... maybe I actually WILL try to let myself follow a schedule more like yours. :) Thanks for sharing!!

I use Obsidian instead of Notion for all of my note taking and project planning, however, this is still very helpful. Thank you for sharing the templates, I use them as a guide to create my own. I like using the Zettlekasten method for writing papers which Obsidian is able to do very well. Kind of like making my own personal wiki for all of my research with all of my notes linked. I look forward to each of your videos :)

Only getting around to watching this now. Superb video, Kaelyn. The more tutorials and templates that are made available for students struggling with time management, the better! 😂 ✨ I think the most important message here is that while the learning curve to Notion is steep... Once you have it, it is kind of like learning how to ride a bike. When you get it, you get it! The powerful flexibility that Notion holds in allowing individual students to curate a system that works best for them is unmatched by other apps, with the exception of Obsidian, as far as I can see. Looking forward to more Notion content over the coming months 🤓 Hope the reading for comps is going well! X

This is amazing! I've been back and forth with Notion but have recently gotten back into it for time blocking. I also know once I have to really get going with the work on my dissertation (still doing courses right now) it will come in handy. The only thing I haven't yet figured out if it's possible - and maybe you know - is to have one the separate pages/lists with tasks that I assign "due dates" can all file into a single master list by date? I like having them separate if I'm working on one project or one aspect of my life, but sometimes you just have to see it all together to figure out how it all fits - and I haven't found a way to do this on Notion like I can with Asana.

You have SO MUCH good information in here!! - And I'm only halfway through... just want to say thank you again! Also, (I just found you so you may have already done this) but I love how you explain things, and am curious if you would make a video going into detail about doing a literature review and (more so) how *you read academic papers/ journal articles, (some go paragraph by paragraph, some read it once all the way through then go back and annotate... I read and annotate at the same time with different colors of highlighters). I am always looking for more effecient ways of working, and better strategies to learn! Also, your approach to studying various topics. Since every subject requires a different way to actively study - some strategies work better for some things and not others, I'd love to see a video about your process! I love seeing your literature review poriton - you ask more questions than I'd thought of. Just a few Ideas, and perhaps you've done this already. I've subscribed to your channel but have yet to look through all of your videos yet. :)

Thank you so much for such a thoughtful and helpful video. I was especially interested in seeing how you manage your reading lists and notes on your readings. I am curious if you back up your reading notes in any way. I realize Notion has some recovery capability, though that may only be for their premium subscribers (I’m not sure). Regardless, do you save a copy of your Notion reading notes, for example, regular export of Notion notes to pdf files or saved as Pages documents on the cloud? I know that GoodNotes files can be saved to the cloud, which provides some comfort in being able to recover my annotated pdfs and other notes made in that app. But, I’m not sure if Notion works the same way. This question comes from the deep fear from those horror stories you hear of grad students’ computers crashing and losing all their data/research. Any insight you have is appreciated.

Hey Kaelyn, I have recently discovered your channel and it is just so inspiring (I am still in the middle of watching all your videos 😁 ). Thank you for all the work you are doing, I cannot wait to watch all the other videos since they are so informative and also provide such a good insight into the daily life of a fellow PhD (I also love your honesty!).
Anyways, I have a pragmatic question regarding Notion: I am doing a PhD in International Relations (civil wars) and I started using Notion this year to store all my notes. I created a huge data base (I also use Zotero) but I am quite paranoid about loosing all the notes. I know it is very unlikely that Notion will suddenly 'disappear' but just the thought freaks me out 🫣. One cannot simply export all Notion entries without having the expensive business version. And even with the business version, the comments will not be exported. So my question is, how do you deal with this issue?
All the best from Germany :)
