My two favorite players ever. Used to see Jose Parica beat all the champions here in the USA and give them weight, and beat them again. He was the best bar box player I ever saw to this day.

The Legends Amang & Bata playing together it's an absolute classic.
Parica was older then Efren and made his name in big money matches. Parica paved the way for other Filipinos to come to the US to play in tournaments. When Parica was playing earlier he won a lot but that was before ESPN had all the pool matches on. Parica could beat the best at 9 ball for money including Buddy Hall. As the years went on Efren became great and won everything there was to win in pool.

I don’t think anyone ever has. When your nickname is the giant killer, no one says “well he’s not that good”. Anyone who knows the game would agree he’s a great player after seeing just one rack. I saw jose parica in a pool hall in Houston giving all the local legends in Houston a two ball handicap for for five thousand dollars sets and beat them all.
The most he gave is 7 and a break to a Local Champion in 15 ahead game and beats him for $10,000.

That´s the first time I´ve seen Parica play. What a phenomenal player! On this showing he had no weaknesses, whereas Efren´s achilles heel was always his break.

He beats Efren many times in their Championship Final Matches, Like World Pro 9Ball Japan 9/3, 2nd Legend of 9Balls 11/3 (where Jose made the PERFECT 1.000 STAT POINTS in Race to 11 9Ball Game. Saint Louie Open 15/5. Efren never won any Championship Finals against Parica.

Profesionalmente el juego de parica era superior, pero la magia la tuvo siempre Efrén, en un partido parica cuida la mesa, Efrén con su magia mete la bola al medio, super difícil el tiro, acaba la mesa y Efrén gana el pertido, entonces perica coloca las bolas en la misma posición y realiza el mismo tiro de Efrén y también mete la bola, eso define la grandeza de Efrén bata reyes como el mejor de todos los tiempos, pq su magia salía en momentos así, resolvía con jugadas únicas y extraordinarias y antes jugadores como perica

To be fair in his prime Parica was little bit better due to his break. In my opinion Parica is bit underrated. He is in the same league as Efren.
The video title clearly states he is better than the Magician as it's stated when the Master meets the Grand Master.

JOSE PARICA have issue that a lot of us don't no and Parica played professionally late and that his fault that's why he recognize late in hall of fame ya he is among the best and as you can see Jose parica has well family. who knows someone out there more good player than Efren and parica but don't have opportunity and the reason a lot recognize Efren is because Efren 'Bata' Reyes is Filipino who pulled themselves out of poverty its like rug from top achieving your goal from being born poor is a tough challenge in life but he still show his skill and a lot of it amaze. I remember a saying that "if you born poor its not your fault but if you die poor its your fault" and Efren play professionally and focus in that career

Don’t like this game. You can sink the majority of the rack but still lose if the opponent sinks the last ball? Doesn’t seem fair?
For players their caliber, it's easy to perfectly sink all balls in to the rack in several racks/games so it's not unfair gor them. If ever, it became a strategic game because of that. There are things like safety where you intentionally not sink the ball but hide it in the best possible way to make it difficult for your opponent to sink it. Lot's of ways to win the game other than just sinking the last ball.

During Amang's Prime he is a shooter an offensive Player. Watch Legends of 9Balls where he beats Efren Bata Reyes in the Finals with a score of 11/3, also there he made a World Record of having a Perfect 1.000 Stat Points in a race to 11 9 Ball Game, meaning no Miss, no Error a Perfect Game.
He played fearless and took shots most highly regarded players usually didn't. He was a killer money game player. I've seen him give countless people huge spots and always come out ahead. Including a lot of players on the pro tour circuit. He is very humble as well. Loved watching him play. Very quick player. Before you know it he'd run multiple racks
