    • @robertshuxley
      @robertshuxley 7 років тому +8

      ummm yeah, that was what I was saying in my original post, HTC learned a lot about camera processing when they made the Google pixel and applied it to the HTC U11. Clear enough?

      Don't compare this trash to the Pixel! The U11 has bad dynamic range! Constantly overexposing and underexposing, lack of details, very slow shutterspeed, lots of color noise The Pixel is famous for it's superior dynamic range, it never overexposes and rarely underexposes. The Pixel has a FAST shutterspeed, famous for it's amazing details and little noise. The U11 can't compare at all.

    Coming from iPhone 7 Plus, I was really looking to get back to android, I then got my self the s8+ and returned the phone 3 days later because I wasn't satisfied with fake colors that camera was reproducing (compared to my iPhone 7 Plus), now, thanks to you buddy, I've preordered the HTC U11. In the past I had the note series from Samsung and my last android was HTC M8, looking forward to receive my U11 in silver. Subbed to your channel.

    How FAST does it take pictures in comparison to the S8? My HTC 10 takes BEAUTIFUL photos but sometimes it takes some extra time. The HTC U11 has UFS 2.1 so I'd imagine it's pretty fast now.

    S8 images are nice but lots of processing going on, HTC has some exposure issue though hopefully that get ironed out with an update. Can you comment about shutter speed, image processing speed and overall camera app performance on the HTC U11?

    • @Hightechtraveler
      @Hightechtraveler  7 років тому +3

      +S Saini like the Pixel, shutter speeds and processing are near instantanious. As soon as you take the picture, you can jump into the gallery and view it. Performance of the camera app is great, especially if you want to jump into the pro mode and tweak settings manually.

    Thanks for comparison. I found HTC HDR boost mode a little to much when low light is minimal because photos loose so much needed contrast . I assume if HDR in certain situations is off it should only help regain those aspects. As for low low light I am impressed well done HTC!
    Another thing is softness I have no idea why but images are little too soft in comparison to my Pixel which has very natural contrast and amount of sharpness. Knowing hTC keeps ironing camera software it should be really good photo taker in the couple of months time. I mean really good. As of yet I am still impressed and it's only low light .
    At the moment I find Samsung having little edge over U11 but very minimal though.
    Anyway this is my next phone but first I have to sell my Pixel.

    Is it me but I'm noticing a slightly blurry haze to HTC's pics for eg in 1:49 and in 2:09 look at the bike on the left it has more detail yes, but looks fuzzy nontheless but in 2:19 the tiles on the floor on the HTC are completely washed out and the plants on the left on the Samsung have more detail but too much saturation. As a HTC 10 owner I'm very impressed with the low light and will definitely get the U11 but i hope that fuzzyness can get fixed with a software update

  • @ericg6421

    I think there's a disparity when viewing these photos on SuperLCD vs SuperAmoled panels on the actual device. AMOLEDs will almost always oversaturate whilst LCDs will almost always provide natural colours.
    I think you should download the photos onto a desktop/laptop computer and do the comparisons from there.

    • @Hightechtraveler

    Looks like a great device. Especially from a power user who typically likes phones with unlockable bootloaders. What would make it perfect though is if they could shrink the bezels on the top and bottom a la LG G6 and give is a slightly bigger display. Maybe 5.7 or 5.8 inches.

    Most of the HTC photos are brighter. At first glance it looks like it has captured a wider dynamic range, and seemingly without compromising on noise levels. It's very impressive! I wonder if HDR Boost works by combining photos from before the shutter press and merging the exposures together to give you the extra shadow detail.

    almost exclusively preferred the s8 photos. The U 11 might be more true to life but that extra punch of color you get from the s8 is so satisfying.
    neither are as good as the Pixel though. I find myself constantly about to the leave the house with my s8 to only run back inside and grab my Pixel instead.

    I was so close to preordering the U11, and then I found out that U11 still can't do 1080p/60fps video recording!! really HTC!? .....guess I'll have to wait for the OP5 or Pixel 2....

    • @victorinoxs
      @victorinoxs 7 років тому

      High frame rate video and slow mo are of different purposes, I don't want to mess with video editing to have usable 60fps HFR footage. There is simply no excuse for HTC not to implement the 60fps option in 2017.

    I never thought I'd see the day when an HTC phone had a better camera than Samsung's. Well done HTC. The pricing for the phone seems more reasonable too this year (less than the S8) so they might be onto a winner here.

    Another great device from a great manufactures once used to be which will get all respect from every one but no one will actually buy it in huge numbers. And that is really sad
    Well done #Htc team and best of luck

    Night shots HTC photos are more brighter but at the expense of the color of elements in the image. on Brighter areas at night, for instance, HTC images appear totally washed out (3:19 you can barely read the branding of PRADA). So I think it all comes down to user preference. If I was to choose, I would go with the S8 though.

    This is a very amazing quality from HTC. I am glad they back to the place their belong. Colour reproduction are really look natural. But I worry about battery. Anyway 128 gb with 6 gb of ram are available. I think am gonna get one for sure.

    The only thing stopping me from getting the S8 is the short 10 second shutter speed as HTC's can go up to 32 seconds. I'm crazy about night photos.

    As much as I hate saying it the S8 images look sharper and they seem to have better contrast, and overall the images just look better. And isn't that what 'most' people want? In the low light pictures it looks like the U11 is a little too bright and the S8 is a little to dark.
    Were any of these shot in raw? Does the U11 do raw? It would be nice to see the raw images since jpeg processing can be a bit random, depending one the manufacturer.

    I want the HTC U11 but I'd much prefer it in the 6gb RAM, 128gb storage version. Unfortunately they don't sell that in the US :/ hopefully they'll have it available here soon.

    To be honest Samsung Galaxy S8's images looked superior even though they were dark in low light but they looked superior.
    Still HDR Boost mode is nowhere near the Google's HDR+ mode.
    Question: Did you wipe off the camera lenses before taking each picture?

  • @mrcraggle

    Quite an amazing turnaround for HTC. Their cameras were notoriously bad for many years but working with Google has clearly paid off. It's just too bad that they got rid of the 3.5mm. I know that it'll be a sticking point for a lot of people to skip this phone the way they did with Apple and the iPhone 7. The glass will be another point of contention. Last year's HTC 10 was a tank but this phone's glass back (as pretty as it may be) simply won't win any awards for durability.

    when the pixel 1st came out everyone took all pics in HRD mode that is really good on the Google pixel but not in auto mode. It took some other UA-cam's to show the difference between HDR mode and off to get down to the truth, That is the same here but like always you have to see for yourself to get a good take on real world use. Hey I see you working it out for HTC lol. The U 11 does have a good camera and the Galaxy S8 has a very good camera but how about doing a video with both cameras HDR mode in auto this time around lol.

    I like the Htc more but it seems that it pushes the histogram levels too much in order to make its photos look brighter and i don't like that because you loose a lot of dynamic range.

  • @bryan7300

    I feel like in lot of the shots, S8 just needed to turn the exposure up. The HTC pictures seemed more "brighter" but at the cost of over blowing the highlights. S8 favored the details in the highlights, while HTC favored details in the shadows.
