*CORRECTIONS*
- At 52:25 I state that I could not find evidence of Jesse Conde voicing Norman Osborne in the Spider-Man (2002) spanish dub. Jesse Conde was not credited on IMDb or BTVA, and the other sources I was looking at were english wikis and were apparently incomplete. As @GothicServer has now astutely pointed out to me, he is credited on the Doblaje Wiki. So I can confirm the trivia is not just partially correct, it has the stamp of being 100% confirmed!
Thanks
It was awesome watch that scene with the Voice of Mr. Conde. Totally surreal 😂
Based Midori profile picture
It wasn't that hard to find out bruh..
Wow this is so interesting. A fact I knew since the beginning and that i could easily confirm was apparently a huge struggle for someone else. That makes you think about many things, or maybe not
I love how Zach and Michael speculate on their own characters’ actions and motivations as if drawing them gave them sentience
This is pretty much how anyone in an authorial position talks about their characters. If you've done a good job at characterization, there will be instances where you aren't really the one deciding what characters will do in a given situation.
Thats kinda how i view my characters when i draw too it actually helps in imagining their decisions
There's a great quote by Hirohiko Araki, creator of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure (slightly paraphrased):
"...when I write, I feel the existence of what I call gravity. In other words, while you might think that as an author I have utter control over the actions of the main characters... it's not always like that. At some points, when the characters have no choice but to act against my will, I have had to draw scenes I never wanted to draw."
being a creator means having headcanons about your own OCs
ryoko kui does it all the time
They really do talk about these characters as if they’re real, it’s kinda wholesome.
Green pim is cursed and conflicts with glep’s design
Yeah they don't mention it but I imagine having two green main characters also had an influence on the change
it also upset the spongebob color symmetry. krabs and alan are red. charlie spongebob yellow. pim patrick pink. glep squidward blue-green (this one is admittedly a stretch)
Love Michael’s work but glad Zach refuted this. Pink pim is so much better
Puking friends
There’s always the possibility that Glep was a different color too originally
24:29 “We were gonna get Norm Macdonald but we didn’t know he was sick at the time” I love how people are still carrying on Norm’s final joke.
Genuinely my favorite joke of his. A perpetual punchline.
When did he make that joke? Was it a joke that he made before he died or some friends/family made after?? I’d ask him myself but he’s sick
@@fletch4231it’s a recontextualization of his H-ler joke, which was something along the lines of:
“the more I find out about this H.Ler fella the more I don’t care for him. Someone should do something about that guy”
“Norm he’s dead”
“Oh I didn’t even know he was sick”
Wait, he's dead??????
Reminds me of that tragedy...
@@haphapp7282r u censoring hitlers name?
Something interesting is that it's shown that the Smiling Friends world is extremely dangerous and a lot of people usually die at complete random because of unforseen stuff, so it's amazing that Glep, being the size he is, has been around since 329 and is completely fine.
Glep is an eldritch god being with multiple types of immortality
its obvious that glep is some sort of demigod
@@poepkak6714he is probably the source of power that keeps the business afloat. As long as he is employed there, the company is worth billions, i assume
I think he might be an alien from parts of the last episode, some of the normal show style aliens looked similar to glep and when one of the claymation frat alien asks who they know i think both slowly almost say glep's name
It’s funny how Charlie even comments on this saying how he hates how chaotic the world he lives in is.
Murder on the Orient Express being arguably the most famous murder-mystery of all time and them thinking they were original with all the mascots killing Salty is great.
michael immediately after makes a joke about an old movie. im sure they genuinely thought they were the first people to ever subvert that trope, and werent just talking shit
There’s been a few times where I think of something for a story and then find out someone has done that or something similar like a week later
It's a shame
I think Paper mario did it too.
@@Abdegathe other day I realized a story I was thinking of is just the Avatar trilogy (assuming the third one is going to be cowboys)
I was half way thru developing magic whales when I realized.
I love how they're both speculating little details in the show as if theyre fans
I really cant ever tell when theyre joking or not anymore😭😭
Joke? what are you talking about? Smilling Friends is a serious drama fantasy series
you said that like a british person
Well when they said they got Danny devito to voice that wall guy was a joke.
@schnoz2372 obviously, but I am familiar with their antics and I can't tell if anything they say that's not a super obvious joke is actually true-
Idk if I believe that Dani Devito part 😝
Love that Lyle playing the Nugget was cut but then in Season 2 he plays another character who's also obsessed with chicken nuggets.
amazing, way better than the just audio video. i appreciate all the edits like the little pngs that slide up whenever they reference a thing
It's so underrated how well edited this video is
Truly the definenitive experience
Thank you for this, it’s good to have the commentary on the go without needing to take the blu-ray or a rip of the blu-ray everywhere
Couldn't tell from a glance your pfp was Babblong and not a Smiling Friends character
Now Jason has his own episode lmao
True lol
Which one?
@@shamrockman508Season 2, Episode 7
Who’s Jason?
@@fletch4231 the 18 year old son of mr boss of course!
I love the age speculation being so spontaneous and yet so accurate. Pim and Charlie having an age difference with Pim being older, Glep of course being in his thousands, and Allan being both the youngest and significantly older than the main duo.
Smormu having a UA-cam channel implies that he was some sort of generic shitty influencer that was going to make a video called “I became the *FIFTH* SMILING FRIEND” before getting in a horrific accident that killed him, and I don’t know if that makes his character funnier or not
1:50 it's a shadow to the left if you can't tell.
Ty so much jaja
I just noticed it, thank you
Ooooh! Thanks! I thought they just troll us.
Bless u
Thank you, I actually thought it was on the left hand part of the fire place since the grate on that side doesn't match the right one.
10:52 there being a canonical class of sapient life in the smiling friends universe called “demon” is insane
Well the Christian faith is the true one so Mr. Frog could just be a literal demon
not that insane. even friday night funkin has this
45:50 The fact Zach ends up mocking his own god damn voice will never stop being hilarious
oh hey Justin Y cool to see you here
Dude I haven’t seen you in ages. Watchu been up to?
Woah dude, nice to see you’re still around
I just respond to be part of history
The legend himself
One thing I noticed is that even though they cut the Simpsons reference "Don't forget, you're here forever" line there are still remnants of it in the episode; the demon when he first arrives says "You'll be here forever, Charlie" and the ones that strap him to the thing to torture him in front of the Devil chant "Charlie's here forever, Charlie's here forever!"
I can't believe how insane The Simpsons and their lawyers are for not allowing literally any reference to their show.
they literally said they changed it on their own terms and also THAT IS NOT HOW IT WORKS@@pinkpugginz
I like how they kept that Glep is thousands of years old in Mr. President.
They did? Did I miss it?
@@MorganNull-uj6uu It can be seen in the ending when the newscasters dox him.
Homestuck reference.
I really think it's important to point it out whenever I can: Charlie wasn't able to view the flashback like we did.
To him, Pim was describing the situation verbally, like "-and then he knelt down and told me "Perhaps one day.." to which I responded "Oh, I love you, daddy!", and then I kissed him on the mouth. Ahh, can't believe after all these years, I'm finally here."
The sheer hubris of Zach and Michael thinking they did the "everyone was the murderer" first when arguably the most famous murder mystery of all time, Murder on the Orient Express, also did it, is insane
This comment has me laughing hard at the gym
god, these two are just great, the way they talk about the lore n background stuff and question each other about "huh whats behind the door or who is that?" just goes to show how much they love the world they made. also incredible seeing them shout out background and prop artists even people who made small musical stings by name, something that we rarely ever see :3
Ermm, don't wanna burst your bubble bro but ermm zach and micheal have fired all artists after the pilot and simply hired a gazillion computers with AI's as animating machines, you've simply been gaslit by them AGAIN heh...

I fucking love that 38:01 Zach accidentally admits that the grease puddles voice is based on Chris Chan 😭
they exstensively talked about it before but they couldnt hire him unfortunately.

@@DantesGrill That's what makes it funny. Just a grease stain
"I voice Charlie and Gleb"
And like 27 other characters, which are amazing too
I never realized that it’s supposed to look like a movie theater! The glow of the screen, the movie posters, the room, it’s great!
Yeah! I based the room's dark appearance off Mr. Boss' office, and the poster frames are photoshopped edits from the posters seen of Mr. Frog's movies in Episode 2!
@@kekulism LMAO, that’s sick, you did a great job 🙏
lmao watching this back i notice all the little nods to season to episodes. jason being the name of the bosses little shmunkin is apparently the plot of this weeks episode, there’s also the picture of mr frog having a picture with bill clinton. that’s a cool way to add continuity
duncan and filmore were also at the Halloween party
1:01:53 At least they can say that of those final roles Gilbert Gottfried had, Smiling Friends is the highest rated on that list.
I've watched so much oneyplays that there are times I'm sitting here like "are they gaslighting me" like with the Alan v Allan thing LMAO
They discuss the show like they didn’t write it lmao. That’s one way to build intrigue
You're not funny
Honestly I find the improv Brazil episode continuation where Pim realises he forgot to pay for the fries only for Charlie and Allan to stop him and reveal they knew the whole time and were just trying to get away with it and for Charlie to call upon all of Brazil to seize Pim to be hilarious, I really really want them to try doing that for an episode
the fact that they pulled an entire episode out of their ass in the moment during the commentary that would be equally as hilarious as the episode they’re commenting over shows how off-the-cuff creative these guys are lmao
The funny thing is Boss actually is a surname (like Hugo Boss) so his last name being Boss isn't that unusual.
Warren Buffet still calls him "Mr.M" in the Episode though.
@@buvvins6687stands for Mboss
@@buvvins6687Obviously it's pronounced like "boss" but spelt starting with an M, so therefore it's Mr. Mbaas
It’s so fitting that Mr. Frog is canonically a demon rather than a frog
“He has no attributes of a frog”
😂
this fan edit is underrated af
It's quite comical how even they don't know much about the characters either, as if they didn't create them and are just watching from a viewer's perspective
sometimes even like they’re in the same universe as the characters and just know them from being neighbors
the many times they realize something or specilate about their own show is interesting.
even if it's a thing you've partaken in making, it can still have things that you don't expect
Death of the author. We are just telling a story when we create, that story belongs to the world, and thus, even the artist doesn’t know what will become of it or have all the answers. Its an amazing feeling.
Besides outright fan art and animation, this is probably the most important smiling friends video uploaded by a fan. Makes watching his so simple.
Tyvm
'How many people will get the reference?' Is a crazy thing to ask with a show like this.
Great work adding all the visual examples to what they are talking about!
Lyle was ment to be a nugget that got axed to only come back as the nugget eater
that got knifed instead
18:35 "we'd get ripped on the streets like Gaddafi" LMFAO
19:31 that was a real power move by Zach and Michael to not mention Mick voicing the annoying gym guy
Is it cause he did something bad
Per the latest episode, his name is, in fact, Jason. And he’s 18.
This feels exactly like an episode of OneyPlay's where they play some random Marvel game
Cringe
@@notveryniceatall 😶🌫️
Now to listen to this commentary for the 99999th time
Didn't except you to make a highlight edit, thank you!
i didnt even realize smormu was at the frowning friends stuff
Omg this is so awesome I was listening to their commentary thinking “damn I wish I could see the scenes in sync” just a few days ago so thank you for making this!
I’m really happy that smiling friends exists especially with how tragic rick and Morty is going out. This show is fckn hilarious. the very first episode where Desmond’s at the table after meeting pims dysfunctional sad family and says “is this supposed to make me not wanna kyll myself?” With a gun to his head I haven’t laughed so hard in years and I repeat that bit randomly throughout the day, and the DJ spit bits always get me.
I dunno, the last season of rick and morty's their best since season 3 imo
Saying that i prefer Smiling Friends - it’s way more classic Adult Swim
This show is a love letter to animation. I’m such a fan of all of these people individually and to have them all working on something together and bringing all of that energy to a show is something special. It’s all a bit and I’m not sure where it ends but somewhere in there, under all the conspiracy theories, is a beautiful world it’s own.
One thing I really appreciate how despite Smiling Friends taking place in a chaotic nonsense world, there is still internal continuity. Listening to this commentary only made me appreciate it so much more.
The while thing with Charile and his possibly stolen cruicifix makes me laugh from the core of my belly fr
smiling friends is like one of those fictional cartoons you see snippets of in a mascot horror game that tells you about the characters that they tried to bring to life and magically edits itself to hint at their tragic backstory
4:30 according to the episode list the final episode is titled "Pim finally turns green"
Commentary Tracks really are underrated, I’m sad they aren’t more popular or done more often, this is great!
A dying art form
35:54 its moments like this which makes me believe that they're gonna make an episode solely to discuss the CharPim situation either as a joke or a affirmation or something of the sort
Awesome to have more than just the audio and even better with all the edits. Thanks for this!
35:44 Michaels Alan voice comes out here for a second
6:21 Micheal's Desmond impression sounds like Squidward.
I very much enjoy that even as they're discussing the show they seem both completely sure and unsure about decisions they've made or character traits.
At 59:54, I think that mystery icon on the Devil's desktop is mean to be BYOND which is the client for Space Station 13, which Newgrounds ran a server for ages.
It could also be like, a Doom client, like GZdoom or something, but I think I make out an Atom shape which says to me BYOND.
It’s BYOND, but it’s a fucked up rip of the OG logo or maybe it’s an alternate. NG also technically still has a server a la Fulpstation but the culture ain’t with em to say the least. The idea of him having modded doom is hilarious to me though, bro casually killing demons
i like that mr frog has been in 100 movies that are critically panned & box office bombs but his TV show is just so good they have to keep casting him
Because of your upload I decided to buy the dvd for the entire commentary ty. Thanks for all the edited in context.
listened to just the commentary so many times you are goated for this video 🙏🙏
I love how half of the facts they talk about I have no idea if they’re just making up on the fly seeing that Zach is the king of gaslighting 😂
Really great job on the editing seamless and fun. Thank you.
love that Zach and Michael don't even know things about their own world they created in smiling friends, like if mr. boss is actually named mr. boss
8:57 These sneaky fucks knew exactly what they were doing, I wonder how long they had these concepts for episodes lol. I bet Mr. Frog has an episode in a Season 3 and it’s already been teased in the president episode
I bet he’s the second episode again. That’s seems to be his pattern
Mr. Frog was originally the first pitch they had before Smiling Friends. They decided to keep him and put him in an episode.
This really is how people and artists talk with their characters. It was really fun to see that other people do this to write and be creative
the sarcasm and dare I say modesty of this reminds me of listening to the venture bros commentary
Just missed my sisters Graduation to watch this. Just couldn’t stop. God bless these men. Protect their lives at all cost.
Your edits were really helpful
I hope this video stays up
45:48 Zach said that with such contempt, cracks me up
Amazing video, really like the editing helps us see what they’re talking about
Thanks for the wonderful edit. All the editors notes are very well done and informative, love it!
Oh fuck yes mummy.
mummu😩
Fock yesh mummy
mummy I RRRRReaally RRRRReeeally want that mummy
With the level of effort put into this... I don't think even Warner Brothers could be angry at it.
thanks chum
thank you so much for this edit. everytime i try to listen to the commentary i keep getting distracted from the episode or vice versa
thank you keku for making this
You’re a legend for making this
I love this. I had already listened to their commentary (on UA-cam, of course), but I'm excited to re-watch it now with the visuals. Beautiful job on the presentation here.
The editing on this was amazing thanks for the video
i've dreamt of a video exactly like this thank you for bringing it to reality
his name is jason... dont ever forget that
great editing & great video!! probs wouldn’t have listened to the audio without this hehe
Thank you so much for uploading this
so grateful for this edit, it was hard to sync up the episodes with just the commentary audio. kudos to u :)
Thanks for doing this. It‘s really well done!
Doing the lord’s work. Thank you so much for this.
Really great video. I love all the touches you put in either zooming in on details they mention, or corrections (like during enchanted forest). I hope the boys here recognize the work you did, and make this an official commentary video at some point.
THANK YOU for posting this
It's so funny that Jason's name has been locked in from the start but only revealed in the latest episode
10:11 Love their explanation of Mr.Frog 😂😂 “he’s not even a frog he’s a demon.” 💀
i love you for all the visual aids over this runtime. took your care
You guys are the reason I've been on this year long rabbit hole with that Parry Karvello dude. It's gotten so far that I've even met Mary Jane and Don Barris recently in Hollywood
ty for uploading this
I think the funniest thing about the renaissance men is that "renaissance man" is already a thing (defined as a man with interests and capabilities in several distinct fields of study), and these renaissance men (by virtue of living in the modern smiling friend setting while practicing horseback archery and other medieval-type craft and trade) may indeed qualify as the established "renaissance man" concept.
ok
There's also the fact that "renaissance" can just mean "revival." Maybe the Renaissance Men want to revive the Kingdom of Jerusalem.
I really appreciate all the edits for context genuinely the best experience to hear these commentaries.
U a real one for this, thank u for ur service
This is amazing and helpful! Thank you!
Hey, thanks for putting this together. I appreciate you.
