Nice job. I was cutting skins recently with a nice tool from Pomoca. The tool put the margin by itself, amazing and simple and you feel like a pro haha. Just put the skins on and cut both sides, very efficient.
I luckily own several pairs of Gecko skins, glueless skins and LOVE those! Forever respect to the president of Gecko who passed in that avy in Colorado. Somebody must have since released other brands of glueless, but not that I know of. The way to make these skins great is to put black diamond elastics and Spark R & D tail and nose clips. Will never go back to glue skins. All you have to do is wash these skins with mild soap and water, and VOILA! like new again, and you can even perform a cleaning job in the field, something you can't do with glue skins when you get twigs, dirt, or other debris in between your skins and your split halves. Anyone know if others have released glueless skins since Gecko came to it's unfortunate conclusion? Jetforce, baby! wear it! Watch the videos of all the saves.... they work! Never stop skinning up. You'll die anyway, and what a place to be if so!
Hey Darren, Thanks for the tips on the glueless and tips for cleaning / making them sticky again. I have Pomoca glueless skins that work great - will be giving them a wash like you suggest though!
Hey Bro, thanks for this really interesting & clear to understand! I have 3 questions I was wondering if you could help me out with... First is I am looking at potentially buying your Rossignol XV Fish Split, and am looking for the best skins. I saw the G3 Alpinist is a pretty good fit but didn't know if you would recommend a better one? or if you would just suggest cutting skins from new? (and if so where to buy the best kit). I was also wondering (as I cant find much info online) about how easy it is trailblazing with it as its obviously a bit shorter so am worried about not holding grip or being hard work to hike? Thanks dude sorry for the load of questions and just wanted to sign off saying I think you've got a great channel! Peace :)
Hi Alastair. Until now there was no skins that where dedicated to the Sushi but now they have come out. I don't know if it's in the 19 20 or 18 19 collection but I know they are at least under way and they are really good. the important part is to have a tail to them. it0s very easily doable and any shop would do it easily. for the choice of skins glues less are good for easy day trips and mild temperatures but if you go more wild normal glue is important. It's always good to cut the skins at least a little bit unless they are design for a specific board also if you go in big pow trail blazing I would almost recommend the sashimi which has a bit more tail and sinks less when setting up a trail in deep pow.... and it rides like nuts. Its my favourite board
Hi, I just got myslef a Sushi Split with the Rossignol skin. Which tailclip should I use? I already wrote to Rossignol a week ago, but no answer. Thanks you.
Hola Vincentz, any tail clip works as long as you put the right angle to it and cut the skin afterwards. the voile and the spark are good but any work as long as they can fit in around the tail bit. cheers
@@xavierdelerue537 Hi, thanks for the answer, but I'm afraid this is incorrect. I just got myself a Spark kit (that is not refundable) and there is no way in hell that they fit the Sushi weird tail. The skins are the Rossignol skins designed for the Sushi (Pomoco) and they are pre-cut, the tailclip needs to be at a specific spot on the tail for the skins to be aligned propely. Am I making any sens? I'll take pictures tomorrow. Thanks.
sorry about that vincent. The best is to then go in a ski shop and test the bits on the spot. I know that new skins from the sushi have the tail clip already installed but before was a bit of a fault from Rossi that we had to correct. sorry about that though
@@xavierdelerue537 Yeah. I Did that today and nothing they had fitted (we even tried ski clips) I'll try to contact Rossignol again, thanks for the answer, I'll share whatever solution I find. Stay safe out there.
@@xavierdelerue537 I just figured it out, the Rossignol skins have a so-called "tail-hook system" like this. imgur.com/C6naH2C imgur.com/w3kHx1P But the board dosen't have the slots. This is going to be fun.
Hey Xavier. Do you confirm that your wife’s board comes with MagneTraction? I was wondering, as I need to trim skins for a 2019 XV split, if the method you are showing here is ok with the curves of the edges. Cheers!
Hola. All good to go with the magnetraction it doesn’t change anything for the skins and you need indeed to follow the curves - so yes the method I show works. Happy touring!
Always with that classy European Flair!
Thank you for this! I just set up my first split and your channel helped a ton.
Estàs fet un crack dels de veritat Xavier. Molt fan dels teus videos!
Great video. I never had to do that, but is good to know it.

Hey Szymon - Ah that sounds like an awesome tool - thanks for sharing. XV
Quality content as always, thank you!
Thank you, much appreciated. Xv

Oh I wish it wouldve included how to remove already mounted tail clip
Hey - Cutting them is the only option unfortunately, but best is to keep them and adapt your board to them, as they are really helpful. Xv

THANKS! I received G3 skins today but at the tail they leave an area of more than 30 centimeters long uncovered. Is that normal??
Hey - Yes that can be normal - you just have to make sure that you dry your base really well before sticking them on. XV
