    Mimaki DTF Printer: dtfsuperstore.com/products/mi...
🎉Welcome to our in-depth analysis of Mimaki's first DTF Printer!🎉 In this video, we put the new Mimaki DTF printer to the test to see if it can truly revolutionize the DTF (Direct to Film) printing technology. Mimaki has made a bold claim that their printer doesn't require a white underbase layer for printing on white shirts. This claim has been made before, but does the Mimaki DTF printer actually live up to it? Let’s find out!
🔍We have closely monitored the launch of the new Mimaki DTF printer, and the excitement is palpable! With its promise, the printer could mark a significant step in the maturation of DTF technology. Our experiment involves printing the same graphic with and without a white underbase. We then assess the quality, texture, transparency, and durability of each print by pressing them on the same shirt.
👕Why is this so important? A white underbase is often used to ensure that the colors in the print are vibrant and opaque, especially on darker garments. So, does Mimaki's new technology make this process redundant?
🚀 Watch as Maureen guides us through the testing process with a voiceover, and get ready for the big reveal! We also put the printed graphics through the ultimate challenge - the stretchiness test.
👉 If you are considering investing in a DTF printer or exploring whether the Mimaki DTF printer is the right fit for your business, this video is an essential watch! Our sales team is also here to assist in analyzing your business needs and ensuring that you find the perfect DTF solution.

If you watched the video you’d know we actually disagree with their stance on no white underbase. We still think it’s necessary!

We have the 300 version and to be fair we equally purchased from Dtf superstore. Incredible team! We equally tested the claim except we did it after we created or own under fill and color profiles. At ten percent white with a -5 choke we were able to get all the stretch needed without the rubber or paper feeling with a very strong pressure.

If there are reacher colours used in the graphic, it should work to transfer on white t-shirts, no matter what printer. I did hundreds of them with my previous basic and single head 1390. I didn't use white ink, but if there are colours with low density or gradient, won't work very well unless use white underneath.

How was the durability? With DTF the adhesive powder doesn't stick as well to the CMYK inks and the combo of the White and Adhesive powder gives the transfer it's stretchiness and durability.

@@DTFSuperstore It actually was great. Was solid black and solid red. I also, turned of the heating platen to keep the ink wet to stick more powder.

Hi . Thx for the video. I own a Prestige A4 and running DigitalFactory Cadlink software. My biggest pain point is getting that nice layer of white ink on top of the printed image the way your print finished in the video. I get runny ink images at times , not enough white and i am wasting film and ink constantly as a result. Underbase vs underbase abd highlight , max ink strength etc i have adjusted and still cant seem to get it right. No videos out there really touch on my specific issue and offer resolution . Can you help?

    • @DTFSuperstore
      @DTFSuperstore  6 місяців тому

Our guess is the white ink gets runny when its laying over darker colors?...that just means you've saturated the ink absorbing layer of the film. You need to reduce your ink amounts. Ultimately you'd want to build a print mode for your printer, ink and film using the NIX color sensor (we have videos on that) but in a pinch in CADLink go to Queue -> Properties -> Colour Layer -> Layer Profile. then adjust the "Flood Level" down 10-15 and see what happens. Make sure you click "Create Print Mode" so you don't overwrite the existing printmode and you can save it with the name explaining what you are testing.

at 1:21 you see lines with the print job means the revolution of that print is not correct?

What you're seeing there is actually the weave pattern of the shirts, it's more pronounced since we are stretching the shirt and zooming way in. The resolution was 300 dpi/ppi.

How much % of white underbase do you sugest we use for dark/color shirts?

It really depends on your printer and setup, if you're running the Mimaki you'll likely be somewhere in the 65-75% range.

Blues and greens are the colors that have problems with no underbase. Black and red have no problem. Test a blue image

We'll have to give that a try when we get our Mimaki! This one was a demo from the manufacturer that we only had for a couple of weeks.

You may try no underbase on dark shirt and you'll see the differenece.

Of course! we know that the white ink help protect the graphics colors as the CMYK inks are not fully opaque.

a lot of pin holing going on there. I hardly ever print on white so I guess it doesn't really apply to me, cool concept though. I do recall seeing some of the "powderless" dtf machines, def stay away from those guys, prints looked and felt terrible.

Yeah, it's a great idea in theory but not the best practice.
