Even then, it takes repetition. I’m Hispanic and my grandparents all speak Spanish to each other. They didn’t teach their kids the language, so me and my cousins barely know any Spanish at all. My youngest aunt had a different mom and was raised in Colombia, so whenever she was around she’d be the one I’d ask for translations. It’s a little pathetic though, because I’ve been taking Spanish for almost every single grade except for 8th and 11th, and I still don’t know how to speak intermediately :/
It’s great that they did these edits. They heard the controversy and listened to a lot of it. I’m glad that Natasha finally got the show she wanted to come out. I just hope she didn’t feel threatened to. Unfortunately, Natasha received death threats when the original theme song released which is WAY TOO FAR! Criticize a show all you want, but sending death threats to the person behind that show is WAY TOO FAR!
Something I find absolutely disgusting. I get that the animation community is impossible to please if not outright unpleasable. Everything's usually the worst thing ever, or at least the other thing before it we all have to hate. But there is NO excuse for harassing, bullying, and yes, ESPECIALLY threatening creators with death. There is no show that awful that warrants such petulant, violent, despicable behavior. Not even Velma.

Honestly, the term hacienda is probably worse given a hacienda was literally a plantation in many Latin American countries where enslaved people (depending on the country) and/or poor people of color (e.g. Native Americans and mixed race individuals) worked for little to no pay.

I know the infamous title “Oye Primos” has not been changed and there is a good reason. For some third culture kids like myself, even if Spanish is spoken in the home, we don’t usually pick it up unless we really try. As a result when I picked up Spanish from listening to my mom and grandma, I was WAY grammatically incorrect. So this is relatable to third culture kids like me, third culture kid meaning: Third culture kids (TCK) or third culture individuals (TCI) are people who were raised in a culture other than their parents' or the culture of their country of nationality, and also live in a different environment during a significant part of their child development years.
Gotta give them props for trying to course correct, they did address a lot of the initial issues. Hoping this show would at least be better than Casagrandes.

Well, as a Hispanic dude with mixed heritage I enjoy the emphasis on broken Spanish. All because my origins are from Latin America it doesn’t mean we all have to speak perfect Spanish, some of us even combine English and Spanish together, it makes us unique. Because in theory, using the argument of “they can’t speak Spanish perfectly!” Is so dumb lol, what if a Spaniard goes up to an Argentine and says “Only Iberian Spanish is correct”, doesn’t make sense lol, dialects exist for a reason.
All I know is that the Ice Cream Truck seemed to have most everything on it in Spanish; the Avocado Toast truck, by contrast, has everything in English

I know the infamous title “Oye Primos” has not been changed and there is a good reason. For some third culture kids like myself, even if Spanish is spoken in the home, we don’t usually pick it up unless we really try. As a result when I picked up Spanish from listening to my mom and grandma, I was WAY grammatically incorrect. So this is relatable to third culture kids like me, third culture kid meaning:
Third culture kids (TCK) or third culture individuals (TCI) are people who were raised in a culture other than their parents' or the culture of their country of nationality, and also live in a different environment during a significant part of their child development years.

@@KingBowser77766it would make more sense to fix it if we were in Mexico or a place that had a more standardized dialect, but this takes place in the LA metropolitan area. Oye is considered an acceptable term alongside Oigan. A lot of Spanish rules are being ignored or changed or interpreted differently by US Hispanic areas.

That’s not censorship (except maybe the crack bit) it’s just them making changes from an early version, which happens literally all of the time.

My point is, the same could be said about haciendas. 2. The fact that haciendas were stablished all over the continent is irrelevant: the characters are mexican american, so it makes sense to mention haciendas in the context of mexican history. Also, in SOME REGIONS of MEXICO, (as I clearly stated) haciendas were basically slave plantations, for example in the Yucatán Península, where the abuses and mistreatment led to the Caste War, a bloody conflict between the descendants of the maya and the spanish which lasted decades and almost ended with the genocide of people of European ascendence in the area. Asking an american kids show to aknowledge this historical event would be too much, so again, not offended at all 3." Well, as a Hispanic dude with mixed heritage I enjoy the emphasis on broken Spanish. All because my origins are from Latin America it doesn’t mean we all have to speak perfect Spanish, some of us even combine English and Spanish together, it makes us unique.
Because in theory, using the argument of “they can’t speak Spanish perfectly!” Is so dumb lol, what if a Spaniard goes up to an Argentine and says “Only Iberian Spanish is correct”, doesn’t make sense lol, dialects exist for a reason.

All I know is that the Ice Cream Truck seemed to have most everything on it in Spanish; the Avocado Toast truck, by contrast, has everything in English
