I hear that. I went to a company that had a barge of scrap steel. They let me dig in there and get whatever I wanted for free. Might want to check some local companies and ask if you can do that.
Nice build! I'm very curious to learn how the paint on your slats has held up to use. I'd imagine the heat from the plasma torch would have swiftly eliminated some of it!
I bought a Prime Weld plasma cutter and it didn't work out of the box. They sent me another and it didn't work out of the box. Now I have a Best Arc and it's been perfect.
I've owned a few cheap plasma cutters. I noticed two of them had sensitive minimum voltage requirements. Worked on my genset, but not house current. Cheap voltage dividers.
