Chris!!! Your playing sounded amazing on that new Taylor 814CE.! Love your touch and that tune. The guitar sounded richer than most bright Taylor’s. Would love to hear the guitar picked too.
I just bought a 314ce-SE sunburst model in December and had buyer's remorse when the 50th models were announced. After finally hearing the 314ce-LTD, I'm happy to have gone with my guitar. I love the bright and punchy sound of the 314ce. The torrefied top adds a darkness to the sound, which isn't what I prefer. Thanks for the review! You guys should revisit the 314ce now that your channel is way more polished and your reviews are more thorough, or at least feature it in a comparison video of something else.
I played my first Taylor in '76 (thanks for reminding me that my 50th high school reunion is fast approaching). These two should great and at a decent price for Taylor...and I am a Martin owner.
Oooh love my 714 sinker ltd sooo much!!!! (Got it partly thanks to your great reviews of that one). I replaced the tuners with smoke black gotoh 510s and i love the understated trim of that model but this new builders 814 edition touches are really nice and ooh that soundhole binding is fancy!
Chris, would love to know your thoughts on this 50th Anniversary 814ce Sinker top vs. the 914ce BE Sinker top. Is the extra $2k worth it for the 914ce BE?
I second this comment!! Please do this comparison!!! I have the 814 builders edition and am considering trading it for the 50th anniversary. Please do this!!
Cooper it’s not your fault people can’t hear your words. As musicians, is it not standard for the listeners of this channel to have trained ears? If they can’t understand baritone English, I don’t want to hear them say they can hear the difference in rosewood and mahogany 🤣 also, excellent demos! You both killed it!
Do you know if Taylor will be releasing an 812ce 50th anniversary edition with similar tone woods? I love this 814, but prefer the 812 body size. Thanks in advance!
Hi, i have a question. What do you think it would cost to a 814ce with a more narrow neck? I am sure they must do customs. I got a furch custom in 2016 because the 1.75 nutvwidths just arent comfortable for me.
I saw that Taylor released a 50th anniversary 414ce with Sinker Redwood. What is the difference between that 414ce and the Builder's 814ce? It looks like the differences are the beveled armrest and cutaway and the inlays. Am I missing other differences?
I was interested in the Taylor 314ce. Played it a couple weeks ages ago. It was $2800 Canadian. Went back a few days ago to seriously consider buying it. Wow. $3300 now. No thanks. I don’t get raises like that! I think I’ll look at some Yamaha guitars. Less than half the price for a good one.
I feel the same way; Yamaha guitars get you so much bang for your buck and I think that half the price of Taylors is the brand name. But- I would gladly own one if they made a better budget model
I actually own a very similar Taylor guitar , at least superficailly and spec wise Its a 2017 NAMM custom edition Grand Symphony not Auditorium with Cut away Sinker Redwood top BUT Amazonian Rosewood body which I have found is extemerly rare , I have never found another wood combo like this anywhere before or after and it seems , correct me if anyone knows, that there is only one supplier of this type of Rosewood in the world for guitars ? Making it seem Brazilian Rosweood like in its rarity and some claim also sounding very close to It In tone fron what I have been able find on line I say this as well because I purchased it "blind" without playing It because I was absolutely set on a Sinker Top and the Amazonian Rosweood totally novel to me but Its rarity and apparent closenes tonally to BRW apprentlly made It seem well worth the risk even though I had no way of knoiwing quite what I would be getting and din't have BRW lying round ti compare in any way Also th "bling" , which I'm not actually great fan of does reallylook gorgeous, just overstated enoigh if you know what I mean but not too much? It also has a glossier finish than the 50th Anniversary 814 and 914 models I have just seen and the Sinker seems to be a lot darker and actually really"Redwood" in col our with a tight blacker grain ? So it definitely has at more bottom end than a GA I did actually try the previous Builders 814 and 914 GAs before the new Builders ADI topped 814 came out last year which my ears greatly prefered compared to the older SItka topped ones and would best describe the GS in comparison as literally thumping like a very tight bass drum when I play chords , a very percussive feeling? Thats on top of the expected very rich and colourful overtones with a clear high end sparkle There Is to my ears a noticeable mid range scoop as well that makes the low end and trebles stand out more rather than If it had a flatter even tone with more mid range Ansd thus brilliant for Singer/songwriter whise voice cansit between these eneveloe of warmth ad colour wurgiut anh harsh mid range clashes I have to say, in retrospect now having played the 814 and especially the 914 with the V bracing and old Sitka tops I do find them just a bit less "Intersting" and far less "colourfull" , I could even say "mysterious" than my GS Don't get me wrong they are both world class guitars in their genre but almost a little "too safe " , very evenly balanced , jack of all trades that will never let you down and hItting a very even tone across the the whole range compared to my Sinker ARW if that makes sense ? I do wonder though to what degree the different bracing pattern makes a differmnece also , my guitar has "Performance" bracing NOT "V" and because this was new to me as well I read around and it seemed that there were a lot of people who were not so keen on the new "revolutionary" V bracing claiming it made the tone "Thinner" and lacking in bottom end ? So sorry for the longish post but I saw an opportunity ti comment here and I just wanted to put my experience out there with a simiilar guitar and know if anyone else has had experienced Sinker/ Amazonian Rosewood or just Amzonian roswewood on any guitar at all and hear other peoples opinion as it is such a subjective thing as well? Awesome video as ever!

814 sounds great
Great enunciation Coops. 🎸

Beautiful! Sadly, i tried the Ad14ce LTD (and the AD12esb) and they both sounded similarly bad.. but these 2 sound incredible!
