how do you get so much range on the video stream ?
I’ve actually got a few videos on the channel that go over my setup. My latest build has some new gear but this was all possible on my old gear too 🤙
That's what homies are for! Nice run!
Fun video. I also built a long range FPV RC car. I've thought of making a similar video, except I was going to have a friend call and say "Bro - I'm out of beer". Or maybe I would drive it to a local Starbucks and have the barista tape the coffee to the RC car (making sure they taped over any holes in the lid). I never thought of delivering a plunger.
Could def get a beer run done for the guys if we need it hahaha!
That's a real bro. Nice work!
You cannot convince me that it's that cold outside, it looks totally reasonable.
The donuts 🔥🔥🔥
Well done. 🙂
Hell yeah. I hate rolling over a mile from the house though and having to drive to go pick it up lmao
Standing water = above freezing temperatures lol 😂
Freakin' awesome bruh..!
That's Epic! That's what fpv rc cars are made for
You legend .
Too Funny! Love it!
That was sick 🎉

orther than when i look in the mirror (lol), i must say, this was the coolest thing ever.....
Hahaha thanks brother. This video got dropped by the algorithm so I def appreciate the love. It was a blast to make 🤙
I wasn't notified that Chadd dropped a new video! Well, I'll contact youtube in the meantime. Great content as usual!
Appreciate this brother!! 🙌
What I really want to do with my drone and rc now I’m inspired to get one
Absolutely amazing!
Bro I’m trying to build something like this right now and iv been studying your work I’m really impressed and hoping to achieve some similar results with my build
I’ve got some videos on my channel about my build. I’ll make a playlist today for you 🤙
Bad ass bro
Super 😂😂😂👍
Liked and subbed!!! This channel needs S M Zeus!
Epic video. i'd like to build something with that range but damn it's expensive XD. Keep em coming bro.
What happened to Amazon drones? Lol, nice work!
They’ll sell the tech to the military, regulate the airspace and never deliver anything, for real 🤷♂️ Me on the other hand 👌👌😂
I seen your older DIY videos BUT i was wondering how do you power you dji air unit? Is it plugged to your receiver? Or straight to lipo? And what connector do you use
You need at least ~6.8v or so to reliably power the air unit, so receiver isn’t an option. I have mine powered directly from my car’s 4s LiPo. I just spliced in an XT60 and also added a capacitor to stop any voltage spikes from killing the AU. It’s normally best to power from a separate LiPo 🤙
📫🔥😁👍
Next time someone asks 'why?' Im showing them this 😅
FPV cars are the “dumbest fun” you can have in RC, was the best way I heard someone put it one time hahah
We all need some dumb fun sometimes 🤙
Epic video and epic range! How far are you able to go in meters?
I’ve been out 1km but I plan to stretch that out quite a bit further real soon 😎 That is LOS btw, I can get around 600m through my neighborhood with my current system. LOS test to come soon 🙌
@@ChaddRainsFPV thats some mad distance! I´ve got about the same range but my tx link is the first thing to go 😅
@@GaryTheRCcar Sounds like getting ELRS or crossfire set up is the next big upgrade for ya!!
@@ChaddRainsFPV Ive already got uhf but unfortunetly im getting interference from the video signal, reducing range :(
@@GaryTheRCcar ahh yeah some frequencies don’t play well. I’ve had my troubles with 1.3ghz 🙃
Just subscribed and was wondering if you could make a step by step tutorial on how to do this, preferably ona Traxxas slash which is one of the most known rc cars which will offer a challenging surface for lo all the equipment. I really would appreciate it!
For sure! I’m actually designing a ‘quick swap’ rig that has the camera, video transmitter, antenna mount and fan built into one, so it will go in any car. I’ll be doing a step by step build of this rig so everyone can build one 🤙
@@ChaddRainsFPV Insane! Thanks so much!!!
Also what do you expect the maximum range to be? That’s one of the main things I’m looking for and since I’m fairly new I’m not sure what to expect. Anyways have a good day!
@@nicc2366 Saying range runners is impossible when talking about FPV stuff, because the area determines at least half of the distance you can achieve. Notice how I said “at least”.
The quick swap pod will be able to take analog or digital vtx’s. Max range I’ve seen with a 5.8ghz 2.5W vtx was over 100km (62 miles). But that was from a mountain top, on an RC plane.
On a car through a neighborhood, I’m hoping it will get around 1 city block, but I may go further (or not as far) in your area 🤙
@@ChaddRainsFPV Fair enough, the range varies but should be plenty. Saw your video on the 80 buck rc controller, so I thought, in the video you’re planning are u including a very high range controller? Like maybe can hold signal for even a couple of miles? But what do you think of this: ua-cam.com/video/HQWXnvPJxAQ/v-deo.html seems legit but I think something running on 4g will have a lot of latency even if it’s a lot of range. Also not sure how you’d pair it with a controller anyways. Thanks for the tips though and I’m looking forward to new fpv content :) Sorry for bothering you too much though. If I’m not entirely sure after your video too I have a more direct way but for now I’m learning.
@@nicc2366 so that system does have too much latency to run an rc car over 20mph imo. But it has the control link built in, so the idea would be to get a good controller that can be used with it’s app (either on a computer or phone). It likely be one of the RadioLink remotes, with a ppm to usb adapter (like used in simulators). That $80 remote will link to a computer as well with an adapter.
For low latency / high speed FPV RC cars, it has to be real FPV; no WiFi or 4g setup can do it (that I’ve seen) 🤙
how do you get so much battery life????
can you show what you see in goggles
I’m using the DJI O3 digital video system so it looks nearly identical to what you see here. The resolution drops when I get a few blocks away but the image in my goggles is 1080p for a lot of it.
The O3 system is really hard to use on a car though. I’m making a video on how I get it to full power mode without an FC 🤙
Ok so I figured a cheap and easy way to have a rear camera I can switch over to would be to just add one and have it always powered, then use a small NO/NC relay to switch the video feed back and forth between each camera. So I basically have it so when I hold a button down it activates that channel and turns on the relay (with flyback diode) via one of those ON/OFF boards and switches over to the rear cam. With my setup there is just a slight momentary glitch in the feed as the screen gets used to the signal changing over but it's totally bearable. The problem is how to do that with DJI air units. Do you know is that even possible by acquiring another unit and just splicing the camera on? I wonder if DJI air units can just have their cams swapped out or will they basically just not work without the factory ones.
Love the idea; “camera switchers” have been a super cool thing in planes for a long time to get ‘tail view’ and ‘belly view’. There is no way to do it for DJI with their digital camera having like 10+ wires and requiring two way communication. Swapping air units requires a power cycle and reboot, which normally takes about 10 seconds minimum, so not practical.
Been thinking of how to do this for quite a long time myself 😅
@@ChaddRainsFPV Damn I'm glad you told me that before I tried to hack one open. Kind of figured it wouldn't be that easy, but then there are some of those 'compatible' caddx units etc. Probably the same deal with them. With all that being the case it does look like with DJI the only options are the 360 spin or a really nifty rearview mirror setup.
@@Magneticitist ✔️ ✔️
@@ChaddRainsFPV I tried to setup my Goggle V2 and can't figure it out. I'm going to use the O3 unit also but I feel like my phone isn't properly connecting to the goggles in order to activate it. I read about how the connection has to be a certain way for some reason and that the firmware is done via assistant 2 fpv series but the activation is done via the DJI Fly app. When I run the app and connect the phone, the app doesn't show any icons recognizing the goggles, but the goggles will switch between "Slow SD" and "No SD", and the phone recognizes the SD card in the goggles. So the two devices are connected and communicating but the app just doesn't show any signs of it. I feel like I shouldn't need to have the O3 unit powered at the same time for just the goggles and phone to properly connect. Did you need like a special firmware or something?
@@Magneticitist No fancy firmware needed. I highly recommend using a PC to activate the goggles and then the O3.
Also keep in mind that if you have the V2 Goggles, then you do not have the Goggles2. You may have to read that again; but DJI made it confusing and named the old and new goggles basically the same thing. But if you have v2 goggles and want to use an O3 air unit, look up the Joshua Bardwell tutorial on it. It will give you the step by step 👍
Lol
😂😂😂
bro this is nuts 😂
_I must have one_ 🫣
