How to paint Soulblight Gravelords Blood Knights

- In this video I'll be painting up one of the Soulblight Gravelords Blood Knights. I think these are really cool miniatures, loads of great details and a kind of batwing theme throughout the armour. The nags are great too with the skeletal head and nasty looking hooves and barding.
Miniature was primed with Citadel Mephiston Red prior to the video.

I know its an older video, but this is killer for me as someone new to the game w/ AoS 4 coming out. Just grabbed my SB spearhead and this has been a godsend on seeing the actual painting in process.
Fantastic job! Really like the contrast between the rider and the mount.
Cheers SJHUE, very much appreciated! :)
Yeah the Druchi violet on red looks really good the way it darkened it to a Claret.
Omg just........wow. very professional work sir.
Cheers Kevin, very much appreciated! :) I’ve loved painting up the new Gravelords stuff so far, really like the aesthetic of them. Think that helps with the end result a little too :)
I've just started painting more Vampires for my own collection, so seeing red armour painted like this is just exactly what I needed to see/learn right now. back of the net once again, Rob :-) I'm quickly getting addicted to your videos now, as they feed my need for inspiration and new ideas every time you post them :-D Love your tutorials, my man :-)
Cheers Paul, very much appreciated! I’m glad you’re finding them useful! :) They’re some superb miniatures, need to pick up some more of the creepy characters to paint up. Have Lauka Vai to paint up - cracking miniature! :)
I've stopped collecting armies/forces/squads/warbands for actual games now, and am just collecting what catches my eye, and am LOVING it :-) There's no pressure anymore to have the latest minis, or to have Codex compliant forces, just me, my hobby, and the fun of just sitting and painting what I've always loved. Your tutorials always inspire me and take me further than ever before with what I'll attempt/learn to do, so after every viewing of your videos, I'm all fired up for my next figure painting session. I still collect Halflings, who are my all-time favourite fantasy minis, and I recently combined four Reaper Halflings and three minis from Hasselfree Minis Mystic Family (Their version of Jedi minis) and created the Halfnificent Seven, a nice little mercenary group to add to my collection :-) My Space Marine scouts are turning out nice, too, since I started painting flames on their armour after your Brotherhood Of The Damned tutorials. You and others are making my hobby so much more than I ever thought possible, Rob, and long may it continue :-D :-D
That’s the great thing about the miniatures, they can be bought for the pleasure of painting them, and there’s so many different types and styles that you’ll never get bored! :)
You videos are gold mate. So well explained. Hope you channel goes viral.
Cheers Kane, very much appreciated! :) I really hope that too! haha! It'd be nice to do this full time! :)
Nice Tutorial. I like the armour of the horse!
Cheers Aggromax, very much appreciated! :)
Such a stunning model. Really well done man.
Cheers Bjorn, very much appreciated! :) Really love these models! Have the rest of the box to paint, will see how far I get, eh? 🤣🤣
Loved it Rob, one good looking model.
Cheers Jono, very much appreciated! :) Loving the new Vampire stuff. Undead armies are ace! :)
Really love your videos, deffenetly using this scheme for my soulblights. Tho i might use khorne red rather than word bearers red on which i cant get my hands on sadly
I wish you would tell us what the first step is! The models don't come out of the box Red like that..... they are dull grey
Hey Will, thanks for watching. :) It's sprayed with Mephiston Red prior to painting. I think it's in one of the comments below, but will add to the info. :)
@@BrushandBoltgun Thanks for the info! I really enjoyed watching. I don't have the money for an airbrush, and I'm going to try just applying with a brush.
No worries Will, glad to help (I should add that info to all videos! :). I use the spray cans rather than airbrushing, I was given an airbrush and passed it on years ago, I found the cleaning of them a pain and I don't get a lot of hobby time. Most of my pals swear by them though, and some of the effects you can get are amazing. I may try again one day, also when I can afford one! :)
awww yeah!! i was waiting for this!!! ty a lot!!
Great success! :-) Love these miniatures a LOT. To be fair, I love the look of most cavalry, I have stuff for a renaissance army and a Roman army too! haha
Cheers Time Lord, very much appreciated! :)
Whats the spray base color? You do not mention it
Hi Prince V, thanks for watching. It's Mephiston Red spray can. :)
Thanks using this brighter red armor for my Moria blackshield dragon protectors, with me called redshields!! MESBG awesome thanks for the color scheme
Lovely job Rob, how do you go about your bases? Do you have a video on that?
Cheers Ant, very much appreciated. :) I don't at the moment, but have one lined up for this weekend. Been playing with the bases a little on the Gravelords, so they look better than my standard ones :) haha
ah damn you got the blood knights? they are pretty fucking awesome, been waiting years for plastic blood knights! I can't wait to get some but working on skeletons and black knights for my vampire count... erm I mean soulblight gravelord army?
They're so nice aren't they? Really impressed with the miniatures, they've done a great job on them! :) Always wanted a Vampire Counts army, so guess what's now on the cards :-D
Cheers Necrodead, very much appreciated! :)
Wow boss this! 👏🎉👍
Cheers Wongy, very much appreciated! :) Ah, man, the Bloodknights are such a lovely kit, just really good looking miniatures! :)
@@BrushandBoltgun yeh look boss like!
The cloth underneath the horse's barding is called a caparison. Fantastic job btw. 👍
Cheers Justin, very much appreciated! :)
It's not called a horse skirt? Haha! Many thanks for the information, it's always a good day when you learn something new. :) That's the ace thing about the hobby, people have so many interests surrounding it (weapons, armour, equipment, etc) that I constantly find out new stuff! :) Cheers! :)
