Toucan Sam was just an average bird. Until one day. He was captured. Sam was forced in confinement and the only food he was given was fruit loops. They fed it to him until his beak turned into the colors of fruit loops. Huh? An adventurous bird going on adventures with 3 nephews, occasionally leading to treasure... If you think about it, these Froot Loops commercials are basically the DuckTales for cereal. Edit: looks like someone already beat me to the comparisons xD
Ahh yes, the 3rd arc of toucan sam was very good.(SPOILER ALERT) After his Fight with tony the tiger, toucan sam was never the same. I can believe one of his kids died at the end of the season. He's a tragic character with trauma and a backstory. He deserves love too.
Goldfish, the snack that smiles back, did something similar a while back. One goldfish gets sucked into a vacuum cleaner, and his friends go on a quest throughout the house to save him.
Toucan Sam actually has quite a few huge voice actors under his belt. He was originally voiced by Mel Blanc, such as in that B&W commercial you showed. Then throughout the 70s and 80s, he was done by Paul Frees (Boris in Rocky and Bullwinkle, Jack Frost in the Rankin-Bass specials, Ludwig von Drake). And in the 2000s into today, Maurice LaMarche voices him.
They were. But as we've seen in recent years, cable TV is going the way of the dinosaurs with all this streaming. I myself have much fewer cable channels than I did several years ago.

Actually... that gives me a thought: Why not do a dive on Coco the Monkey, covering both the US Cocoa Krispies and European Coco Pops commercials in the late 80s and 1990s (of which there were quite a few).

I love when commercials feel like watching episodes of a mini tv show. I always loved the commercials with the fruit monster alien the most. Nowadays, we have Goldfish crackers commercials for this.
I never knew a cereal commercial could have a plot lasting four years. I do remember a couple of these, but I didn't know it was like a whole story. I just remember it being really adventurous
Great video!! Can you do a video on the Goldfish Crackers commercials from 2005-present with Finn and his friends? I swear those have an insane amount of lore, story arcs, and character development lol. If interested I can help give you info since I’ve been studying them for years now lol :)
They should do this with more commercials, it makes it a lot more interesting. I mean, Goldfish did a similar thing where each commercial continued the adventure, but they also made it interactive so you had to go to a website and vote on what they should do next. Personally, I think it’s more fun to just watch the adventures like a tv show, and not have to go vote on the next episode
Here’s one thing to talk about How come every time the advert for nickelodeon kids choice awards comes up the placeholder for that stays there for the entire episode
I think up until the late 90s, ads were a good secondary source of cartoon/puppetry viewing, especially back in the early days when you had people like Jay Ward and Jim Henson in the game.

My favorite was the trilogy themed after Alice in Wonderland, where a Queen of Hearts style villain steals the Froot Loops, and in the process of getting it back, kids could vote for a new wacky flavor, and ended with new Cherry Cherry Froot Loops the winner.
