So I can learn myself Will let me know if I can purchase a video or book. Hoping can become a good cook like you!
I have many videos on cooking different things. You can see all the video titles here: ua-cam.com/users/Smokyribs1videos You can order a Cajun Rocket Pot from their website here: www.cajunrocketpot.com
Oh, so delicious!!!! Do a frog leg video! Man, these videos take me back to childhood. They remind me of my Grandfather, who might just have been the greatest cook to ever grace this world!
You guys are adorable! Getting ready for my first crawled boil for thanksgiving! Thanks for all the tips and tricks. I believe you 2 have way more experience and insight you can bequeath upon us. I’d like to see you go into a little more detail on timeline to each ingredient seasoning etc. thank you for the crawled hook up number! I’ll be calling him! AWESOME video
We are having a crawfish boil today for the Superbowl here at Cut N Shoot RV Park in Cut N Shoot, Texas. Thank you Smoky Ribs BBQ & Southern Cuisine for the video, I am gonna show theses boys a thing or two now.
Good deal and a perfect thing for a Super Bowl party! I've got a cousin that lives in Cut N Shoot! I'll be going there myself in a few weeks to pick up a new offset smoker in South Willis TX
Purging crawfish is a myth. All you gotta do is wash them. When you see "purged" crawfish and that dirty water, it's just dirt from on the crawfish. It's easiest to just let a hose run water over top of your sack for a few minutes. One, you won't drown then. Two, salt kills crawfish, that's bad. Third, you keep them cool and that helps prevent loss as well. The only actual way to purge crawfish is put them in an environment where they only eat something like corn meal for 2 days. But ain't nobody got time for that lmao!
Russ man this is awesome, I never ever had craw fish or even a boil, I have to try this. Thanks again for another amazing video. Smokey Ribs fan for life.
Good informative video! In Maryland we pretty much steam everything but crawfish have been rising in popularity. I love them! Going to try them with this recipe
one of the best videos aswome. Need more with Keith yall make a good pair and I'm ready for crawfish season my mouth was watering. Thanks happy new year
Happy New Year Rus and Keith...Great to see you two back on the small screens....light snow here in the Maryland suburbs of Washington DC...watching the first 2017 boil warmed me up and put a smile on my mug! 😀😎😀
Awesome video, I live in Arizona and I've been wanting to do a seafood boil for a long time but there's no place out here that sells fresh and alive crawfish. Thanks for having frog bone on your show, I'm definitely ordering crawfish from crab man plus. God bless you and your Family.
AWESOME video ps I’m in Denver! And I mean crawdads auto correct
Thanks Angie, glad you enjoyed the video! If you ever do make it down here, I will have to hook you up with some crawfish for the first time. Most people get addicted right away ;)
Hey man... over a month ago, I mentioned that I never had mushrooms in a crawfish boil while watching your channel. I would personally like to say.... THANK YOU LOL!! Maaaaannnn... that has to be the next best thing to sliced bread!! I have put a lot of friends on the mushrooms and they loved it as well!! Thanks or the great tip and videos!!
Hi Rus,I thoroughly enjoyed this vid,I think it personified what a boil is all about, getting together with great people, and great food! Heh! Heh! I couldn't help but snicker when you scored the first mushroom, they are my favorite as well! Thanks!
Happy New Year to you Rus! I hope you are doing well. For some reason I didn't get notified of the video, but I know that has been an ongoing issue with YT. This was another great video and I would love to try that crawfish one day. You guys always make it look so easy. Keep up the great work and I'm looking forward to more videos from you in 2017. Take care.
Happy New Year Matt! If you go to any page where you see a subscribe button, click the gear icon right beside the subscribe button, and from there you can turn on email notifications on all new videos. You can see if it's turned on or off there. Thanks, I hope you get to try crawfish one day. Cheers!
As far as the seasoning and all the basics garlic onion lemon everything is on point. I would throw in some liquid Boil also though. Makes it way better. And wheres the sausage??
I let Keith roll with this video the way he wanted and use the ingredients he wanted. Check out some of my other boil videos and you will see the liquid boil as well as sausage being used plus more. Thanks for watching!
I miss my sea food supplying at least 15% of the years protein by catching it down in Florida. In TN you're lucky to catch 1 lb of seafood / year. The 50 lb pot of crawdads cookin' with all the bounty.. Some are eating real good and I can't say I'm complaining. "The Crab Man Plus" small fee, we'll enjoy. God bless the USA and be good to your fellow people everyone. :)
great video on how to do it, when I was young we used to catch them in the stream near by, and called then crayfish, were they the same thing? is there a web sight for frog bone Cajun sauces?
+chevy11211947 Yes, same thing but these in the video are pond raised. Wild crawfish are even better. There is a link in the description box below the video for Frog Bone
When you wash the crawfish do you just rinse them off or do you let them sit in the water for sometime i know when we cook blue crabs we let them sit till we see the water turn color then take them out but they are still alive we never ate crawfish but i do wanna try them
I will be in Covington LA tomorrow morning around 10 am. Shooting a new video with Cajun Rocket Pot showing 3 new pots they came out with, and boiling 3 sacks. One for each pot I guess. I'll find out when I get there, but man, I'm just mainly wanting some more crawfish! ;)
After first sampling these water bound delights over at JB's Spring Fling a few years ago I am hooked. Good for us that Louisiana Crawfish ships all over so we can get our fix in all the way up here in New England. Great to see you and Keith making it happen so early in the year. Have a great 2017 Rus.
+Tango Joe They are so addictive Joe. Once you have them, you already know you will have to have them again. Thanks Joe, and wishing the best in 2017 as well
Yes yes Hell YES ! That sure made my mouth water. I would love them mushrooms too ! So while you guys pig out over there...I just...cry out over here lol. Boy that boiling action was beautiful ! That glass edging was cool. Thanks :)
Hi Paivi, thanks for stopping by and watching. Just the thought of crawfish makes my mouth water. I can't never seem to get enough of them. The glass was just amazing! Very talented friends! I love the beer glass they did for me!
I really wanna make some shrimp skewers on the grill not knowing what seasoning to use or anything I love all of your videos I figured your the man to ask before going and making something that won't turn out good...
Love your channel, I'm an east Tennessee-an and looking for a good Nashville hot chicken recipe, wanted to try it out maybe even wings. suggestions or any videos I should check out?
If I remember right, Mother's BBQ did a Nashville Hot Chicken recipe not long ago. You may want to check his channel out. I may do it at some point but got a lot of BBQ vids coming out for awhile. Glad your enjoying my channel! Thanks so much for the support, I really appreciate it Blake!
What ever happened to that one crawfish boil video you and Frog Bone did at some park in a pavilion where yall were feeding a group of people that was one of the first videos that I’ve seen yall in and would like to see that video again
Rus, just like lobster must be cooked up alive, I understand why crawfish must be too. You wouldn't believe the number of people who express great concern about how humanely I end the life of my fish! LOL!! What a super demo of how to cook crawfish! I LOVE the beautifully engraved beer glass! What a great surprise! Thanks for the very entertaining and informative video my friend!
Hi John! Yeah, some people just don't understand about having to drop them in alive. If they ever tasted one that has been dead for awhile, they would fully understand, and besides that a crawfish doesn't have a central nervous system like we do, and they don't have a brain capable of discerning what pain is. They die instantly as they hit that screaming pot of boiling water. What a great surprise the etched beer glass was! That really topped my day off! Great people and great work they do! Thanks for watching John, I sure appreciate it!
Hey Rus I just discovered your channel from Abom coming down to visit. Love this video, never tried crayfish but would love to someday. My wife and her family are from Houston TX, but have lived up here in Washington state for the last 25 years. I need to ask them what's up with not making this for me. Thanks again, and nice to meet ya.
Hi Deric and thanks for checking out my channel! Adam is a fantastic guy and his video has sent quite a few folks over to my channel. I hope my video of that day has done the same for him. Yeah, ask them what's up with that! You can have live crawfish shipped to your front door now days ;)
All sorts of things you can add to a boil. You just have to get a feel for how long something is gonna take to get tender and toss it in at the right time. My Annual Seafood Boil video I did a year and a half ago will kind of show you how to stage out putting different ingredients in, base on each ingredients cook time
Hey Russ, when Keith says 6 inches of water, does he mean takes a measuring tape and measure 6 inches from the bottom or 6 inches fron the top. The pot you all have looks more than 6 inches if water. Would 10 gallons of water be the same as 6 inches in a 80 quart pot?
NICE!!! i'm jealous. the last time i had good crawfish....a guy drove them up overnight and my uncle bought a bag and boiled them very similar to what you guys did. the closest i've had since is frogmore strained and dumped on the table. shrimp are ok, but crawfish are hard to beat.
I see you put the bundles of garlic cloves in whole, you don't really need to at least split each single clove? just wondering if the boiling them whole will bring out the flavor?
In Arizona it's illegal to transport them from the catching location alive.. they require that you cover them in ice.. if as you say you can't or shouldn't eat dead ones.. does this mean you have to take all your kit with you to the lake and cook them there? or is covering them in ice, and then going from ice to boil going to be ok?
excellent Video Rus, nice to see you and Keith together and the etch & sketch team are cool. I think it's funny when people get all worried about seafood going into the boiling water alive, if you like eating any form of meat the animal at some point has to be killed. no matter how you dispatch them, I'm sure it's not fun for the beast. it's a fact of life!
+michael landry Thanks Michael, glad you enjoyed it, and your absolutely correct about meat of any kind having to be killed before it is eaten. It's definitely a fact of life.
+Greg Jones Greg it does need to be in that temp range. He didn't mention it but he was hoping the frozen corn would be enough to drop the temperature down quickly but it wasn't enough corn, so we ended up helping it out by spraying the outside of the pot down with water. Normally much more frozen corn would go in at the very end and that too will drop the temperature fast

He means 6 inches from the bottom in a 120 quart pot.
NICE!!! i'm jealous. the last time i had good crawfish....a guy drove them up overnight and my uncle bought a bag and boiled them very similar to what you guys did. the closest i've had since is frogmore strained and dumped on the table. shrimp are ok, but crawfish are hard to beat.
+2MoreBites We have to get our crawfish fix pretty often. Glad they are coming back in season.
I see you put the bundles of garlic cloves in whole, you don't really need to at least split each single clove? just wondering if the boiling them whole will bring out the flavor?
No need to cut them. They will completely boil away and all the flavor comes out
Everything looks great!!! Question: From the time you put the crawfish in the pot, how long are the crawfish to boil before shutting off the pot?
+Trell of all Trades Once the pot returns to a boil which is fast in a Rocket Pot, boil for another 2 to 3 minutes

Thank you, I'm glad you enjoy the videos, and I appreciate you watching them!
With out the hot sauce how spicey is it? Can a 5 year old try them? Thanks in advance
They just have a kick not really hot at all. All the kids down here eat them
excellent Video Rus, nice to see you and Keith together and the etch & sketch team are cool.
I just ordered me some frog-bone items. Thanks for all the great videos shout out from Oklahoma. LOL
Your welcome, and enjoy the Frog Bone! I appreciate the shout out!
When would u put the sausage in ? Along with the corn ?
Yes, because the sausage is already fully cooked. Just put it in with the corn and you will be fine.
@@SmokyRibsBBQ awesome thanks for the reply
Great video Russ. I thought the temp was supposed to be between 143- 147 when soaking. I didn't see him use any ice or spray the pot.
