With due respect to Pandit Ravi shankar ji, Nat-bhairab is quite simply not his creation. I don't want to be impolite but a lot of Pandit-ji's loyalists or ex-sycophants (definitely not his students) are propagating this gibberish. Please refrain from putting factually wrong information on record without substantial proof.
@chittadwara78 cause i listened many recording of the raga maybe which were recorded even before pt. Ravi shankar ji was even born . The raga was always there ... but Ravi shankar ji popularised it with various experiments and excellent performances just like raga bairagi bhairav (he popularized that raga too )
There is no good reason to believe that Nat Bhairav is a creation of Pt ji. It seems like a common scale. In south, this raga known as sarasaangi, known from mela-kartha days (16th century or earlier).
This is beautiful, but it doesn't sound like the familiar Ahir Bhairav to me. I'm not totally confident about this, but what I am hearing suggests that he is using pa as sa, making the raag, properly speaking, "Pancham Se Ahir Bhairav". Am I wrong about this? If so, please set me right.
@JoelvanLennep No lol This is Nath Bhairav. Nath bhairav IS the Pa mode of Ahir Bhairav. Ahir Bhairav is the Pa mode of Nath Bhairav. This is mislabeled and it's making U crazy! ;-)
Thank you, thank you, "antarsitar" for the clarification! Duly noted. Pls. accept that I knew that my ad hoc term was wrong - besides "Pancham se Ahir Bhairav" is too cumbersome! At least I was correct in perception if not in terminology.
can someone help me with a morning raag or the tune, which used to air on zeetv years back. its lyrics were something like "bhor bhayi ab..... jo sovat hai wo khowat hai, jo jaagat hai so paavat hai."
wonderful, pity the youtube vid clip is not 5x longer at least. oh well short n sweet. guess i'll just have to put it on replay.for a day.ta4 posting. aum shanti. hari bolo.x.

And on what basis are you saying it is not his creation?

It's like he is plucking ever so gently on the nerves in my head. :)
Every note is played in heavenly perfection. The intonation of the instrument is divine.

Pete, I have heard this instrument is nearly impossible to learn from tutorials. You need a master in person.
I realize I am kind of off topic but does anyone know a good website to stream newly released tv shows online?
