Away from all the TRIVIALITIES of daily chores the "BIBAGI" or The "BOIRAGI" gives meaning to LIFE itself with all its SPLENDID "notes"! That MUSIC transcends ALL and EVERYTHING is not just some utterances! PURE and simple JOY!
This is an LP brought out by EMI in 1967 (No. EASD. 1319). On the other side of this is another Rag which is said to be Khan Sahib's tribute to another great son of Bengal--Sri Tagore. The name of the Rag is Medhavi which is saying a lot. On the LP is mentioned that tabla is by Sri Shankar Ghosh. The Bairagi experience stays with you for ever.
I have this on vinyl ('Pre-dawn to sunrise ragas', Connoisseur Society), which I bought in about 1972. I have been trying to find that album on CD many years. Thanks for the upload! This raga, and its companion Raga Aheer Bhairow, are both sublime.
Incredible ... from the pre-dawn he brings us till the bright sun rising till its brightest rays streaks forth as if thru the fingers of Khan sahab - incredible kehlo yaa divine its all the same ... and true of all his recitals all notes have a peculiar purity about them very easily you coud say God playing Sarod !!
Fortunate we are that we still have some pure, devine and original things to experience and it'll be forever.... grateful ❤️❤️❤️🙏..he...he..and let me tell you it's very important to note that I'm listening this in 2020 as it's must needed situation
This is very much like the Raga Revathi in Carnatic music except that some of the nuances are slightly different. There is a composition attributed to the composer Annamcharya that M.S Subbalakshmi popularized. This is playing of the highest order and gravitas.
To rliesky56: This is superb! Even better is Raga Aheer Bhairow on the same album. Could you please upload that one? Ali Akbar Khan's other (earlier and later) recordings of that raga are not as good. I think that recording of Aheer Bhairow was the best of all his recordings.
Hi, This raga was composed by Late Pandit Ravi Shankarji, our beloved Guruji. Raga Bairagi, created in 1949, is a morning raga. Thanking you, Ravi Shankar Institute for Music and Performing Arts 7, Chanakya Puri New Delhi.
We, the all know and it is acknowledged all over the world that this North Indian raga Bairagi and t it's compositions are a creation of the great maestro Pt. Ravishankar ji amongst many other ragas...the notes maybe somewhat similar to some carnatic raga. That is a seperate issue.
We are lucky to have born in an era with the work of Ustad ali akbar is preserved for us to listen to. pure worship, this music is

A PENTATONIC PRE-DAWN DIAMOND( WITH KOMAL RE AND KOMAL NI; AND OMITTING GA AND DHA ALTOGETHER) - IS ATTRIBUTED TO LATE PANDIT RAVI SHANKAR.
God also meditates when ustad'ji plays sarod, He can't move.

there are carnatic songs based on this raga for centuries
Does it make any difference -this wondrous performance.
Hello..in 2020...namaste to great Guruji..🙏🙏🙏💐💐💐
no....it was not composed by Ravishankar Ji...It is traditional rag .

The actual mahapurush was the maestro. he overcame the over-enthusiastic powerplay of the other Mahapurush.
What tala is this?
Tin Taal.
