This must where the producers of SHREK got the idea for their Pinocchio to talk in that falsetto voice.
People actually watched this? I was a kid during this time, but I never watched this, or even heard of the Brady Bunch Variety Hour. I was blessed as a kid!
Many variety shows of the time were as over-produced and underwritten as this, so what’s the point of beating this particular show to death?. I choose to focus, instead, on the big musical medleys at the end of each Brady Bunch Hour show. They are well-choreographed, and everyone is genuinely enjoying themselves. It’s like a party with old friends. Florence and Barry are genuinely talented with dance and voice. Barry had just been on Broadway in Pippin, learning from Bob Fosse. Also each medley finale is a huge musical nostalgia trip. Let’s face it, like it or not, the show is a pop-culture phenomenon, a record of a wonderfully excessive time long gone
