Things Joakim Broden gets pressured into: - Singing Swedish Pagans - Slapping that iron knee - Playing the "machine gun guitar" on stage But most importantly: "Noch ein Bier!"
Funniest part of the last concert i went to was that Joakim mentioned the guy responsable for bringing em beers was named "Andy". Before chugging a beer. Before he had finished the Cup, people were screaming "ANDY ANDY ANDY" to the amusement of everyone on stage.
I've heard one recording from the Sabaton Cruise -- if memory serves, it's on a deluxe/ extended version of the "Heroes" album -- in which the audience starts the chant and Joakim yells at them to "SHUT THE FUCK UP!"
Its even better when the other members of the band spur it on too. When I saw them last between two of the songs, Chris started the hum and just like that the whole crowd begun to hum as well. Joakim just looked at him and said little more than "Motherfucker". It was great.
I love it when Joakim trolls the audience over "Swedish Pagans." It's become something of a game between him and the crowd -- he might not like playing it, but he knows that the crowd will NOT let him leave until he plays it and so he decides to mess with them over it. It's all in good fun.
This is exactly what happened in Bratislava a few days ago, the whole crowd just started chanting the hooo hooo hooo part along with tommy joining on the guitar and the rest of the band just stood in disbelief for like a minute until they decided fuck it lets play it
was at their concert in Ostrava, Czechia yesterday. Swedish pagans was there once again, and it ended up being a screaming chanting match between Tommy's half of the stadium and Chris's side of the stadium. Joakim didn't look amused XDD
This happened at the sabaton concert in the armory Minneapolis mn, everyone demanded Swedish pagens and they relented after like 3 minutes of chanting.
Yeah they know how to work the crowd into thinking that it had an effect on whats going to be played :D if you were to more than a single concert you know exactly whats going to happen next based on whats happening on the stage - when Joakim wants a beer he will make the crowd think they should chant about drinking beer. I know I suck at explaining but yeah, they do it very well and its less obvious than I made it sound :DDD
At least the way I see it, if Joakim doesn't like playing it...well, it's his own damn fault for writing a song with such a distinctive and easy opening sequence which the audiences can sing back at him to let him know they want to hear it!
@@fanofhistory8017 Don't get me wrong....I'm one of those people who believes that Joakim's supposed hatred of "Swedish Pagans" is mostly for show and that he just enjoys messing with the audience a bit. It's all in good fun. After all,, there are lots of other songs which Sabaton *has* to play at virtually every concert for the sake of the fans but he doesn't have any issues with those. I was merely pointing out that if Joakim really *does* hate "Swedish Pagans" as much as some people think, he has no one but himself to blame for writing a song which is so popular and which is so easy for the audience to beg for by singing the opening. That said, I can understand why a band might get tired of performing the same songs again and again since that takes away the opportunity to play some of their other less popular songs once in a while. I for one would very much like to see "Poltava" or "Ruina Imperii" played live (even if only to ring the changes a bit) but I very much doubt I ever will...and it's not just because "Ruina Imperii" is the one song from "Carolus Rex" which is only in Swedish.
@@OreadNYC oh sorry for my comment you answered perfectly. Like id love to hear some of my favourite songs alive. Like As you Said Ruina Imperii or on my side midway. But i think Panzer Elite as opening never fails, but I also dont think that sweedish peagons doesnt have to be played every concert. But its tradition for the Sabaton and I understand why is it Done.
I heard this happened and someone (in the band) pulled out the song list and said "its not hear we arent going to sing it" After the crowd kept cheering or booing for it someone else in the band or maybe the original guy just tore the list in half and said "f it, we'll do it anyways"
Sorry to be late for the conversation but if I recall well there are a few reason but main one is Joakim try to push in some of their newer song in concert to get them out in the allotted time they have … so when the public request this older song then one of the newest one won’t be played for lack of time.
It's a running gag; Swedish Pagans isn't on the setlist, but around halfway through the concert, people start chanting it, Joakim gets "upset"... and then they start playing it. Joakim runs with the joke, but he honestly wishes he wouldn't play it, as per this news article: californiarocknews.com/2018/02/13/sabaton-kreator-wiltern-draft/.
The 2 dislikes are from Joakim on both sabaton and sabaton history
There’s a third, so it’s his own account
He made more accounts to give it more dislikes. Smh Joakim
one day he’s gonna tell the crowd to sing it themselves lol
We will.
Well happily oblige
And they will
Definitely
It's already topical.
The only thing that hates a Viking war chant more than Britain is Joakim
And the only thing that loves it more than Sabaton fans is Tommy
This is probably the worst time to be Joakim, he cannot escape the Swedish Pagans

You can see how betrayed Joakim looks when Tommy yells “YEAH” into the mic.
I love that rather rueful smile on Joakim's face when he acknowledges that he's hopelessly outnumbered.
"ARE YOU READY FOR SWEDISH PAGANS?"

It's not Swedish Pagans unless Joakim does it under duress.
two things you need to do at a Sabaton concert.
chant Swedish Pagans.
Chant Noch Ein Bier.
it always works.
Joakim was strong, but the crowd was stronger.
That feeling when your band mates betray you and join in
Remember kids peer pressure works and it’s totaly ok

Why does Joakim not like playing this song
because he dont like the song he wrote
It's actually one of his favorites he just doesn't want to overplay it because he thinks he'll grow to hate it, that and also it's just a running joke
he likes it but don't want to play it every time
Also musicians kinda practice for a very particular song lineup in a concert.
Don't want to disappoint by singing a song they didn't practice for.
It's the funny request song
Poor Joakim 😂
So I recently got into Sabaton, one question I have is why does he not like to sing this song? Is it just because it gets requested alot
It’s a bit of a meme that he doesn’t like it, it’s just a song that’s gotten a bit overplayed lol
