Do you have to use Facebook business page to start a business page? I didn’t because I didn’t know about that? Looks like maybe more business features?
You can use a regular Facebook page to market your business, but setting up a business account gives you a lot more features and insights that will be helpful for improving your and optimizing your results!
Technically you can promote your business on a personal page (to a certain extent), but you should really have your own business page set up if you want to properly advertise. Doing so will give you a LOT more options and analytics that are crucial if you want to have a successful page.

My husband has been using his personal profile to promote his music for many years because he has 4500 friends - mostly music friends and we are having challenges getting people to refer to his page so it becomes a problem that perpetuates itself. We ask people to like the pages - We have one page for his general music and another for an online event that we have been promoting. The musician page has almost 900 likes and it has been around a long time. The cocktail hour event page has been around for only 7 months and we have almost 600 likes, but in order to get watched by a larger audience, as I understand, he needs at least 5000 likes on our page. What I have noticed is that potential fans do not go directly to the page and like it, they send friend requests. I have asked him to send a message requesting the folks who send him a friend request to like his page - Any ideas would be super helpful.

In Ads Manager, Facebook makes you declare if your ads are related to credit, employment or housing, or about social issues, elections or politics. If you select Housing in the campaign level, there will be drop downs explaining special ad category requirements.
