    They now have the Pro VI for advanced players ready to make the transition to any Standard 6 String. They now have Electric Guitars with built in amps. The Acoustic Guitars are designed to feel like Electric Guitars, and adding a piezo pickup increases their versatility.

    What about the Loog Mini, Pro, & Pro VI Electric Guitars? The addition of a built in amp (just like on those 60s Electrics that have a built in amp), is great cause you can simply flip the switch to activate the amp. Electric Guitars are in fact easier to play than Acoustic Guitars because 1) the Strings are thinner, & 2) the action is lower (Although the Loog Acoustic Guitars Mini, Pro, and Pro VI are designed to feel like an Electric Guitar to make transitioning between the 2 Guitars a breeze so kids can easily play both). Even though Electric Guitars are fantastic as beginner Guitars, Loog Guitars made it even easier for younger people by making 3 String Electric Guitars (the Mini and the Pro), along w/ a brand new 6 String Version of the Pro for people who have been playing a little bit longer.

    Hiya, Ben Brill Music for Kids. I just bought one of these for my GrandMonster, who is 2, but very interested and already keeping time by "blooming" the strings, as he says.

      And YES, thanks for getting your GrandMonster a loog, and I love the blooming the strings quote. Very cute. Keep up the great work, and I'm looking forward to keeping track of what you are creating.

      I would say so! I think the key at that age is tremendous patience and just allowing them to have fun with it. If she does seem interested to learn some songs, this playist I made is a great resource for total beginners:

    You know what, the Loog Acoustic Guitar models (Mini, Pro, and Pro VI) are designed with an Electric Guitar type feel to facilitate playability. The Acoustic Mini has Nylon Strings which are easy on the fretting hand. Even though the Pro & Pro VI have steel strings, they use Extra Light Gauge Strings cause 1) it's appropriate for this small body, & 2) it feels like an Electric Guitar.

      Fantastic, and congrats on your purchase! The process of changing the strings isn’t too hard, but I can definitely help simplify the process by making a quick video on that. I can get that done within the next week or so.
      If you’re in a hurry, you can definitely look up other videos on “how to change the strings on acoustic guitar”. The main difference is that with the strings you have, you’ll need to tie a small knot on the end of your strings for it to work. But like I said, I will definitely make a Loog specific video.
      In the meantime, though, there’s no reason To wait on him playing it. You can get it into tune with the regular strings it has now. Just let your son know that if he has any trouble pressing down the strings, it’s no problem - we can put easier strings on it soon.

    I got the mini electric for my Grandson. He'll be 6 yrs old in March 2022.
    I'm considering exchanging it for the pro electric because the mini is very small. I haven't shown it to him yet but my concern is that it doesn't look like a Real rock star guitar because it is tiny. I don't want to unmotivate him.
    Does that make sense?
    I really like your videos. I'm not able to get the mobile app to work on my phone so Thank You!

      Makes sense! I've tried out the pro with kids who are 6/7, and they like the looks of it, but it's usually a bit too big when they actually try to play stuff. They have to have a bigger stretch with their hands and it's not as comfortable as the loog minis. I have a few 8 year old students who still play Loog minis and love them.

    • @BenBrillCreative
      @BenBrillCreative  3 роки тому

      Thanks for the awesome question! I haven't personally tried it, but I see no reason it wouldn't work to switch the strings around. Would be quicker than on a 6 string guitar because you'd just have 2 strings to flip-flop. It wouldn't hurt to send Loog a message because I bet they've been asked this a bunch.
      However, I'll put in my own thoughts here briefly. Teachers have a lot of opinions about whether all students should just play righty or not. I personally used to switch the strings for extremely left-hand dominant kids. These days, I make a good effort to try to get them playing righty first.
      We are probably going into more detail than is necessary for a 4 year old (Just let them mess around and see if it's fun for them!). But, here are some downsides of playing lefty in the long-run. 1. Nearly all guitars they come across outside of home will be strung for righty and they won't be able to play them. Chord charts are more confusing to read lefty. Also, a good argument can be made that the left hand of guitar playing has the harder, more coordinated job, so why not give that task to the stronger hand? In short, it's a big topic. But, you've got some amazing lefty guitarists who play lefty and some who play righty, so either way can work.

    Would you recommend loog pro vi acoustic or splurge for baby guitar from one of the big well known brands?

    • @BenBrillCreative
      @BenBrillCreative  5 місяців тому

      Thanks for the awesome question! It depends on who is playing the guitar, but I have in the past tried out the Baby Taylor and Martin GS mini with students of mine. These students were between 8-10 years old, and in both cases, the "baby" guitars were a little too big for comfort. Both the neck width, and the shape of the body. The Loog pro Vi has a smaller body and a neck that allowed for more reach, so both of those students were happier on the Loog.
      The Martin and Taylor DO have slightly better setups and tone which comes with the super fine craftsmanship, but at the end of the day, these students preferred something that didn't feel awkward to hold.
      I really do like those baby guitars though, and would suggest them for a kid who is maybe 12 + and has had some experience already.

    Would you recommend the loog or ukelele for young kids?

    • @BenBrillCreative
      @BenBrillCreative  3 роки тому

      Excellent question! A lot of people wonder this. Any particular age you want to know about? I go into some good detail on this question in a video I made that compares Guitar/Loog?and Uke,:
      ua-cam.com/video/KqkfVqAFBBc/v-deo.html
      The short answer is that it depends a bit on what kind of music the child likes, and if they have a teacher available. BUT, I have definitely found that the Loog mini is the EASIEST to play for kids who are under 5 or 6 years old.
      If you have any other questions, let me know! Also, I have a playlist on my channel for all the videos I made about how to choose instruments for young kids. That could probably help you also!

    Got the electric pro, just in time for Xmas present. I tested it out, but I have zero experience with electric guitars. How to I get that “rock” sound? The built in amp is soft and doesn’t really sound like what I hear in rock music. In any case, I’m sure the kids will like it.

    • @BenBrillCreative
      @BenBrillCreative  3 роки тому

      Nice! Glad it arrived in time. A few of my students got their Loog electrics this week too, so I should be able to answer your question. They are good guitars! very fun. I was glad to see there was no overpowering buzz from the amp (all electric guitars + amp will have a little hum/ buzz).
      SO, the guitars have an on/off switch and two knobs. One of the knobs adjusts the overall volume. The other adjusts what we might call "drive" / level of distortion (rock sound). That's what you need to know about the gear you have now. From the loog mini I tried out, I was very satisfied with the sound, both "distorted" and "clean" (gentle).
      To go a bit deeper into the topic here, you are not limited to ONLY the amp that comes in the guitar. To get more epic rock sounds and effects, you may at some point choose to experiment with amps and effects that you can plug the guitar into. But, for Kids, I think they should learn to play the guitar as it is first.
      Also, some of the job of making the Loog sound like a rock guitar comes from playing technique, and the songs / notes we use. Stay tuned for future videos on that, as I have a ton of ideas to put together.

    The Loog Electric Guitars (Mini, Pro, and Pro VI) have Steel Strings but they're under really really low tension (and they have a low action). For the Loog Pro if you want nylon strings use the top 3 Strings from a set of Ball End Nylon Strings.
