Gentleman Jack is wonderful. It's beautifully produced and acted, and the occasional breaking of the fourth wall is absolutely appropriate, given the internal dialog (spoken aloud to the camera on a couple of occasions) is from her diary. I'm disappointed she was not among the personages we studied in my Queer Theory and History courses; but now this series can be added to curricula certainly worthy production values.
I'm not trying to diminish your comment, but over 60 million females have been aborted in China and 90 million in India, simply because they were the wrong gender. Surely we have to establish that women have a right to exist in the first instance?. Men brought forward all this LGBT crap and to be honest, they did it for themselves and women don't matter at all. Ever tried bringing up "women's issues" to gay men: they couldn't care less.
I think the whole cast are superb. I particularly like the scenes at the dining table with Ann Lister, Ann Walker and Ann’s sister Marian, the conversation, expressions, and intonation are mesmerising.
I love how all the other guests are a cross between entranced and wondering if they should be uncomfortable. Hats off to Suranne for her forthrightness!
suranne is absolutely perfect for this role, i cannot wait season 2 😩 the mannerisms, gestures etc were so on point and HER SMILE my god, i am on my knees for her LMAO and this may sound weird but her eyebrows are just so expressive 😌 and also hats off to sophie rundle for her portrayal of ann walker, the vulnerability and fragileness of the character was depicted beautifully
I can't wait for season 2! I fell in love with her and Anne on screen. Ti know a powerful badass confident woman who wasn't afraid to love who she loved and do what she wanted and be who she was is amazing in that time period.
Thank you Surrane for depicting this love story with such class! The LGBT plus community appreciates that so very much! So often we are represented as more of a punchline. You are a class act for sure.
@@ArchyP yeah the chemistry between Suranne and Sophie was so good that her real life husband probably was ready to start chasing the producers by the end of the show .
Unless you mean Aunt Anne, I think you're good! :) There's SO much more of Anne & Ann's lives that I'm sure Sally wants to explore before taking it there.
@Pamela Gc if you like happy ending you can read the story of the famous Ladies of Llangollen. Anne Lister was inspired by them to persue a life partner and to live on their own terms.
everybody dies. it happens in real life. but i couldn't imagine living as ann walker. so much tragedy and she suffered with depression and anxiety and her mental health deteriorated till her death.
Well this is 2020 but where i live it's still like living in anne lister time. i had to write on my "diaries" about stuff because the society are against gay relationship. lot of people around me still think it is contagious.
If you knew anything about him at all, he takes public transit, speaks to regular people on the street, including the homeless and disenfranchised, has helped people in need without expecting something in return, and is a genuinely lovely man. Clothes don't make the man!
just hearing her voice i feel things omg

Fun fact, I actually starredn in Gentleman Jack as Eliza Washington, Samuel Washington's daughter.
@@emmawrightson3961 I am sure you will be eternally proud to have been part of such a wonderful ground-breaking story Emma.

Hahahaha. Me? I literally dead. Or basically want to be dead instead. its disappointing she’s straight 😭😭😭
YES!!!! SAME OML
Wow. So in a similar way, the actual Ann Lister made up her own codes way before polari.
Interesting interview
Gentleman Jack sitting next to John Wick.
Shes absolutely gorgeous
I like Keanu Reeves but Suranne Jones is a much more an amazing actor.
One of my favorite series.
I'm so hurt this show was cancelled 😢 #savegentlemanjack
It’s not canceled it just needs funding
We could start a go fund me to raise money to continue the filming for the uk ❤
Suranne Jones is a great actress.
This is very exciting!
I'm excited for season 2 but can't handle watching Anne Lister die in the end :(

@@Geminie1 I hope so :) I'm even fine if Sally changes history and let her live ;)

Fit as fuck
There’s nothing more uncomfortable than Keanu’s face in this clip. Give the man some aspirin, he’s clearly sufferin
🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆
Is it just me or the guys sooo uncomfortable??
Why does Keanu Reeves look like a homeless person?.
starquant he always looks homeless
He needs a shave and a haircut.
Because he can.
If you knew anything about him at all, he takes public transit, speaks to regular people on the street, including the homeless and disenfranchised, has helped people in need without expecting something in return, and is a genuinely lovely man. Clothes don't make the man!
@@janetlynncobb5766 Get off your high horse. It was a joke ffs.
so we have a straight woman playing a lesbian? Now you wokey's get cracking🤣
