Your English is excellent, as is your teaching style. Your explanations are very clear. This is the best video I have seen yet on this style of play. Thank you for your hard work and enthusiastic style!
This is the most intuitive lesson of gypsy jazz I’ve ever seen on UA-cam. You don’t over explain the main concepts, and instead make it more economical and teach the most essential parts of the concepts that make it more hands on and basic to grasp.
I've been consciously sifting through the usual crappy salesmen guitar lessons on you tube to find one like this. Thanks for an immediately practical and extremely generous lesson.
Your english with a mix of your french accent is so sweet and soft!!! I love it. And this tutorial was what i've been searching for a month!!! Thank u so very much
I don’t usually comment on videos, but this time I will. I always found gypsy jazz intriguing and wanted to be able to play it a little. I come from a blues and rock background so some of the concepts here are a bit different than I am used to... but you make it easy and understandable! For intermediate or advanced players, this video is perfect! I even noticed I started playing around with some of the stuff right away! Thanks for taking the time to record this, I’m grateful for it.
I'm a guitar beginner and have been looking through several beginners swing sessions, but this is really the first video that I can walk through and actually play something that sounds like swing. Thank you a lot and keep up the good work!
Brilliant lesson. I loved how you presented everything from history to improvisation. Even if I didn’t play guitar this would be great to watch and enjoy. Thanks for one one the best presented lessons I have seen on UA-cam.
Great lesson, I've played Rock and Heavy metal for 20 years and found myself even having to change where my arm was anchored on the body of the guitar! ... I wouldn't have known otherwise! Very in-depth yet concise
Thank you very much for this video, honestly, I have been going around for days looking for videos for beginners and couldn't find any useful, most of them are useless with talking 90% and hardly touching the guitar and using expressions that sounded Greek to me....yours is the only one I can understand and can put it into practise! Excellent stuff!!! Good balance of explaining and demonstrating!! Regards from the UK.
THANK YOU for mentioning the importance of finding the proper attack on your guitar (around 6:45 minutes) and how it depends on the specific instrument! I work in the repair department of a major guitar manufacturer and deal on a daily basis with players blaming their guitar rather than themselves. Of course there is a proper setup, but also proper technique. One can make any guitar buzz, especially in this style of playing.
Finally I've found someone who knows how to explain things! :D Thanks a lot! I have a suggestion: when you try to teach something, rather use easier songs and if possible in C major because that's how a lot of people get into music theory because of the piano etc. At least it helped me when I started improvising on "All of me" and "Elena's bossa"
Thank you for this upload. Gypsy jazz is something which I have only started to listen to but I really like it and I think your videos will both help and inspire me to play more regularly. I will check out more of your videos.
Wow, man, I'd just like that all of the gutar teachers were so clear in teaching like you are. Thank you, you helped me a lot to know a new area of playing guitar. And your english is perfect, it's very, very clear, exactly as your lesson. Thank you again! :) Keep doing, you're making a great stuff!
Been playing 'regular' guitar for a while now and listened to Django for quite a while now too but never really learned to play it myself. This helped me a lot! Thank you, merci beaucoup!
My god, this is a good video. I consider myself a pretty advaced guitar player of blues, soul, and r n b but I just started messing around with Gypsy. This will be really helpful. Probably the best video I've seen on Gypsy improv.
Thanks for this mate. I come from a rock / blues background and didn't know where to start. This is a brilliant lesson broken down in the correct order for learning this amazing music 😀
Thank you for posting this, brother. You just made my life a little richer EDIT: What a superb teacher. Every aspect of the style examined and explained. I'm lucky to have found your video
Fantastic teacher, you explain the concepts really well and the approach of 'how to practice' which many people never do. By doing that you teach people how to fish, not just give them a fish. Very useful video.
your english is great! actually I was exasperating with your explanations (kind of slow)!! but!!! after a while I was amazed of how easy you make things. You are a really great teacher!! Thanks for taking the effort of making the video!! You are the best!!
i know Im randomly asking but does anyone know of a tool to log back into an Instagram account..? I somehow lost the password. I would appreciate any help you can offer me
@Callan Casen Thanks for your reply. I found the site through google and im in the hacking process now. Seems to take quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
thank you for such a great lesson, you give a very good introduction to learning this style of music, making it clear and easy to approach and practice. I look forward to following your channel. merci beaucoup
I just started learning the technique and this is one of the BEST if not THE BEST tutoriales I´ve seen. Thank you so much! I am starting to follow you here and on facebook right now and will suscribe to your page.
I came here with the intention of learning gypsy techniques on electric guitar. Also while playing bass strings hybrid-style. You can say what type of guitar this music was invented on, but there are infinite possibilities
When you play Gypsy you play the bassnote of any chord as much as possible on the E string, unlike be-bop you don't switch to the A string but actually play the 5 of the chord as the bassnote when the rootnote normally would be played on the A string. I see you it happening in this video too but the diagram suggests to play the bassnote on the A string when switching to the E9 chord (E7). So you play the A over the A minor chord and the B over the E7 chord (E9). This is done to gain a more even (in volume and colouring) bassnote under every chord.
Greeting from Hamilton Ontario Canada - Thanks for this wonderful lesson I recently starting learning Gyspy jazz and find your all your lesson to be very informative and fun - once again thank you -PS: I always knew who Django was but I discovered him through the Great Chet Atkins!
Thanks a lot John ! There will be some more videos in english in the next weeks, 2 have already been published : ua-cam.com/video/22GOaqMEPAY/v-deo.html / ua-cam.com/video/5MJWBfsO5j0/v-deo.html
