Great tips, thanks! The maze can be solved in a much simpler fashion: you just have to open it with Paint and use the paint bucket over one of the edges to color it. You'll end up with two different colored halfs of the maze, with the solution between them. One caveat for these strategies is that they work only with mazes that have an entrance and an exit, so one path divides the whole thing in two unconnected sections. When the ending of the maze is located in the middle of it, this hack won't work. You'll need some extra steps: erase a small segment of the border and try the gimp/paint trick. It will probably solve the maze just partially. Iterate by erasing additional segments, until you get the whole solution.
