Hi Chris, I just got started with notion and these videos are truly a godsend. I’m learning a lot. Thank you very much. While I was following along I had an idea: have you ever thought of having bad habits to behave as opposites to good habits? So, the progress bar starts a 100% in the morning, and if you fail with a Bad Habit, then the progress bar goes down. Almost feels like a Health bar in a videogame. Bad Habits would basically be all checked by default, and then if you fail, you uncheck them, making your “”health”” go down. I think it could motivate you a lot to keep your focus all day, wanting to keep that bar smoothly at 100%, instead of simply signing the bad habits as completed at the end of the day. Would this be possible?Obviously the “overall” progress bar combing both would need to be thought out differently.

Hi Chris, this tutorial was AWESOME!! I'm trying to understand what exactly Notion is, and your videos are exactly what's helping me understand it better and make new stuff in it. Thank you for these lovely videos! ❤❤ I had a few questions. 1. Instead of tracking just my habits, I made another database of all the courses I have this semester, so that I can keep a track of my attendance in each subject. The issue that I'm facing is that there are days that I have 2 lectures of the same subject at different times of the day. So how do I add a subject twice in a day, because it ain't necessary that I'd ALWAYS attend both, right😜 2. How do I keep a track of progress of each habit? I want to make a chart for the habits too..... 3. There are weeks which have days of both the months, so while tracking monthly progress, 2-3 days' progress of the other month gets mixed as well. How to avoid that? I think it would be better if we make the monthly table relative to day(since date), and that being relative to week...? idk if you'd understand what i'm trying to say 😅😅 4. ALSO!! Where'd you get the cover images for the days, quarter and year??
Glad you find it helpful! In regards to your courses database it's difficult for me to be able to help without seeing the database but maybe what you could do is add text properties of the time for each class and then show that or if you're using a date property to use the end date toggle and then select the same day but change the time. So it'll for example show Jan 7 10:00 - Jan 7 15:00 (so you have know you have 2 classes, one at 10am and the other at 3pm). And as for the covers, I got a pinboard full of Notion covers that you can checkout here: pin.it/4MeuQbd and for the custom covers I hired someone on Upwork but you can get them here: chrisnotion.gumroad.com/l/guktt Hope this helps :)
Do you have to edit the Add week button in the Sunday, Monday, etc pages. For every week. Bcuz it doesnt add the current week, it adds the week you set it to.
Hey Chris I'm new to notion and I found your video very helpful but in 9:24 I don't have the options (Now and Today) in the "set property to" for the Date! Also in 10:13 "This Page" in Days relation
Hello, I don't know much about programming but the formulas for the days aren't working for me. When I add more days and their habits, whether good or bad, they share the same checkbox for the whole week. So, I only get a daily analysis but the analysis from the previous day gets lost. I apologize if I wrote something wrong, English is not my native language.
Thanks! It's the exact same process as for the weekly view. Add the relations to the previous database and the 3 formulas, and just change the database used in the formula. So on the quarterly view you'd link it to the months database and use the months database in the formula
Chris, absolutely love this habit tracker ! It's been easy to follow with your tutorial. I have a question for you that you might or might not wanna include. How can I, for example, check if I did a workout 3 times a week? I have been trying to figure it out if there is a formula that checks if you have the word workout in the databank of good habits and then check if I checked it 3 times over the course of that 1 week but I don't have the propper knowledge of notion formulas to actually fix it. Maybe you can help me with this one ?
To track an average of 10 bad and good habits every day, it will be necessary to create 70 relationships per week, 280 per month, and 3650 per year. Won't this cause the database to become cluttered due to the multitude of relationships? Is it an efficient long-term method? Have you been able to experience it? By the way I am one of your subscriber who followed you for 1 year. You are doing great and very useful layouts. It is suprise to see you in camera first time
Hi thank you. Yes in the long run you'll have a lot of different database entries but it shouldn't slow down Notion as there's no content inside those database entries and the databases are hidden from the dashboard so it's not loading each time you open the dashboard. It will only slow things down if Notion has to load all 3650 of them all at once when you click on the dashboard. But the way it's set up you only load the 7 days of the week so it should be fine. And no I haven't used it for over a year yet as it's a new dashboard. Will address issues and fix bugs over time.
For those of you having trouble with the Bad Habit formula at 3:26 and can't get the 'current.Done' part to work, what I did was first type the 'map("Bad Habits", current."Done")' part FIRST, and then type the lets(badhabits stuff. That's the only way I was able to make it work! Otherwise you can try and find a workaround with the prop() function but that may be tough.

I loved your Habit Tracker, but I've got confused on how to procede after the weeks part. I tried to do the same thing I did with weeks, with month and etc, but I just couldn't make it work. I've got frustrated. But well done on you habit tracker.
It's the same process with the weeks. Here's a short loom video showing their formulas: www.loom.com/share/1ba1a2294344464d9f2fd73872714460?sid=4d2cd46a-0110-4f2d-a9a8-3af50321d1a3
Thank you for the tutorial. Your videos are always easy to follow along with. Also, I was curious if you could do a brief video on how you created the productivity bar? I attempted to do one myself and then confused myself.
Thanks! It's just a normal number property turned into a progress bar and divided by 10. And then the other views are just formula counting them together and then divided by the total number (7 days, 4 weeks, 3 months, 4 quarters) Might do a productivity journal tutorial in the future if there's enough demand
Thank you for giving this info away for free, it's fantastic! I can't afford the template right now but you've definitely earned my sub. :) I just have a formula question as I am also getting stuck on the part after "Weeks". On the months template I enter map(prop("Weeks"),current.prop("Current Week")).filter(current) It still shows "Empty" instead of returning a checkbox. What am I missing?
Hi, Chris, Great video, great value. I have a question, when i add a new week and i open for example monday, and that is the current day. If i add the good and bad habits, if i decide to do the same and create the good and bad habits for the rest of the week, when i update my daily habits and bad habits when it updates on everyone single day regardless of being the current or not. While i understand, it makes me confuse because if you added the mobile view, there is no option there to create those for the whole so that means i would still need to access the day and do it manually each day. I hope it made sense. Could i have done a mistake? Thank you, really appreciate it.
This setup looks great, but I prefer organizing my days as rows and my habits as columns. However, this method doesn't seem to work well for that approach, since it creates a new entry for each habit every time. This makes it harder to track how often I complete each habit
I do have other habit trackers built like you describe but doing it this way is the only way that allows you to add or remove habits in the future without changing the progress of the previous days and where you can have specific habits for specific days (and you don't have to update any formulas)
Hi I wanted to ask when you add new days is the attack date on them supposed to be uploaded automatically. Or I have to add each date in order to show the actually current week. On my progress page. I hope that makes sense. Also thank you for the video 💯
In order for the weekly, monthly, etc views to show your current week, one of your day database entries needs to be related to that week (through the "add week" button) and have today's date (through the "add today's date" button). Hope this answers your question if I understood correctly
I find all my covers on Pinterest, except the week & month covers in this video which I got custom made (link in the description). You can checkout my Notion cover pinboard full of animated pixel covers here: pin.it/5oJdvmFSQ
@10:13, I can't find 'This page' in my days relation database. Instead, it just shows me a list of good habits to pick from the good habits database. Somebody kindly help with this.
Hi Chris, my weekly progress bar doesn't update when I check the box for the habits. The progress for each day is working, but the weekly progress remains at 0%. Can you help me pls? 🥰
Make sure everything is related with each other and shows both ways, make sure you've selected the correct properties in the formulas, and make the formulas on the days database is correct. Somewhere there should be an error but without looking at your databases I can't tell you what it is. Though I hope this helps :)
Hello Chris, this template is amazing, but I have problem in minute 20:47, because I don’t charge the progressive week, I saw the codes are the same as you taught, I don’t know what can be failing, please help
Hello! The template doesn't seem to be working (it used to work until yesterday). There is a problem with the buttons; they won't input the habit's name. The name is titled as "Untitled".
Hi yea I'm aware, contacted Notion about it. Nothing on my side. Think they changed something and now the buttons can't seem to add names when you click them
I've been using this template for months, and it has worked great so far. But now for some reason, when I click add a new date in the buttons section. My habits appear as untitled... Is this a bug? Do I need to change the template somehow for my habits to appear again? I'm lost
Can I edit this habit tracker in such a way that whenever I tag a task in my to-do-list as a HABIT then it is automatically added in this daily or weekly section?
Thanks for the tutorial, but I am stuck in deleting the week and adding them from the beginning. Although I followed you precisely, it gives me the message that " The page with the original synced block has been deleted". Could you please simplify this section?
I loved creating the template following your video. 🤩 It's the first time I've seen your content, you're very good, very educational! I've got a little confused when trying to do the month progress formulas. Somehow, my bar doesn't get data from all the weeks that make up the month >: Should I make a link with the weeks page? I'm stuck >:
Yes, exactly the same process as with the days & weeks. You relate them (week to months, months to quarters, quarters to year) and then add the 3 formulas which are also the same except you don't use the days relation as you did in the weekly view, but the weeks relation for months, months for quarters, and quarters for years. Hope this helps :)
i really appreciate this, but a tutorial on the month and quarterly would have been a lot better but thanks tho and just a question, i see that below in the content area theres no add week but instead theres a bunch of months there, what is that for and how did you do that?
hey Chris, I hope you're doing well cuz I'm dead. This is soul commenting.... This UA-cam video is only 30 minutes long but it took me 2 days to build this page. I'm really proud of it, but I've been struggling with a problems. I need to automatically generates dates for WEEK database and how am I supposed to add weeks into months as a month can have 5 to 6 weeks for different year (in template). can you please help me clear up this confusion? Appreciate you man!!!
Haha, yea a lot of people have questions about this so I'll probably create more tutorials around this in the future. So the way I've done it is by working backwards, meaning start from the year and then in the year you add the quarters, then in the quarters you add the months, then the weeks and then the days instead of doing it forwards from days to years. Hope that makes sense, would recommend checking out the walkthrough video of this dashboard to maybe get a better understading :)
It's probably something with your "Today" checkbox property then. Make sure it shows a checkbox and that in your formula you've selected all the correct properties. You can also maybe try adding "== true" next to the current function in the filter: map(Days,current.Today).filter(current == true)
That's part of the productivity journal where there's 10 buttons ranging from 1-10 which just adds 1-10 to the productivity score number property. It's not a formula, it's just a number changed to the progress bar and divided by 10. And then the same way we did the weekly progress bars, it's the same process but for the productivity score (dividing it with the total amount of days related to that week). Might do a video about it in the future but for now hope this helps :)
Hey Chris - this is great stuff, thank you! I'm looking for a similar Habit Tracker but I want to have my habits increase skills - for example, as I continue to workout, my "Strength" skill will increase as a result. Do you have any templates I could buy or guides I can look at to accomplish this? Again, great video and thank you for the content. You just earned a subscriber!
Hi, nice video. The step template buttons, where I have to put the code to generate a ruler to separate buttons, my code doesn't work. I've tried so many times. Can you help me?
This was awesome and I appreciate the video but not gonna lie you lost me at 16:50 making 52 different templates just felt like a giant waste of time, I left to look for a different habit tracker elsewhere. Looking forward to your next tutorial with the same setup just more automated lol. Would also love for each day to automatically show the date. like Monday, Sept 3rd, 2024 as the title.
How does the daily progress work? If you want to completely stop your bad habits why would you add the good habits and the bad habits? Surely the bad habits should take away from the good habits
The bad habits are the ones you want to stop. So if you succesfully complete your new good habits, as well as resist your old bad habtis, the progress bar will increase
I followed along to the letter and almost everything works. The only issue is that duplicate entries are being entered into the Good Habits and Bad Habits databases whenever I add the habits into the next day. I am ending up with huge databases full of superfluous entries. Is this supposed to happen? If not, how do you remedy this?
Hi Chris, I have an issue. The habit tracker has been working flawlessly for many weeks now, but suddenly today, whenever i click the habit creation buttons, all the habits are named Untitled, even though the button changes the name property. I didn't edit the buttons one bit and they randomly stopped working today. Would really appreciate some insight. Thanks
I have the same issue. The Name property is locked both in bad and good habits database and I think it wasn´t before. I tried everything I could but it just does not work. Thank you for any advice :)
@@emaaberstikova7639 Yeah I noticed it as well, i feel like it is some notion update or bug in the latest update that does this. It's good to know I'm not alone with this problem. An interesting point, however, when I run the same buttons on my ipad, they run perfectly showing all the names.
Does each week regenerate on its own ? or do I have to delete the past week and click the new week button to start the new week. If thats the case, does it track the data collected from the previous week?
You need to just add a filter that only shows database entries where the date property is empty or the date is relative to today and this week. Add the first filter, click on the filter menu, click on advanced filter, select OR, and then add the 2nd filter
The HTH is focused around habit tracking and the Life OS around general life-management. Though I'll be integrating them and upgrading the Life OS as well as increase the price soon
Could someone help me with a code, I want to change the first progress bar, so that it divides the good habits between the bad habits, so that in a situation where a good habit is set it is at 100 but if there is a bad habit it is at 0, well that depends on the boxes of course
So once we reset for weekly tracking, the previous dataset is replaced with new and this system is storing only the progress data of previous weeks but not the data on particular date. Am I correct?
You don't reset anything, the filters on the day view will just hide the past weeks but everything is still connected to the relevant week & month so your progress should stay in tact.
Hi Chris! You are literally a Notion master thank u for all your content! I got a question for you: when i'm creating the template buttons and i'm adding the days relation in the "set property to" i just get the monday page and not the "this page" do u have any ideas of the reason why i don't have it?
i doubt your still gonna read this, but i need some help. at 2:40 when i look for the ''Done'' property it does not show ''Done in the list and i cannot click anything. even though i have added checkbox properties named done for all my databases. i don't know if this is because notion has recieved a lot of updates but please help me, i don't know how to fix it.
I was using a template that had the habits stored in individual pages, but this made too hard to add new habits, because i'd need to change the formula. i tried to do your method, grouping all the habits in only one database and adding relations to each day, but now everytime i check one habit, it updates the progress of all days. how can i solve this?
You can't relate the same habit to multiple days otherwise if you check off the habit it'll mark all of them as complete. The method I show in the video is to create new habit database entries and relate them so each day has it's own set of unique habits (database entries) so if you check them off it'll only be for that specific related days database. Just follow the tutorial and you should be good
Hey Chris, not sure why but I followed everything but now everytime I check a good habit off, none of the progress bars work. It only worked on week 1, but 2 and 3 didnt work
The weekly, monthly, etc views will only show progress if one of the days database entries has today's date AND is connected to a week through the "add week" button inside the synced block
Exactly the same as we did with the weekly view, except inside the 3 formulas you don't use the days you use the weeks database for the monthly progress, months for quarterly progress, and quarters for yearly progress.
Your formula for bad and good habits progress doesn't work for me, so please explain it to me, because i really dont know much about formulas. Edit: i found out what was wrong: i neeed a dot instead of comma before the done checkbox. Aarh i feel so stupid right now
I literally just discovered that as I was using it myself 😂 Was like damn, here goes my email inbox of people saying there's an error lol. Everything still works, is just the date timestamp in the text property that you'd change but nothing is broken so we're all good 😅
@@chrisnotion Bro your habit tracker is insane but if i didn't found this link so I would Spent my whole year making same weekly covers BTW you are awesome bro
You're probably not editing it in the template itself and just in the actual gallery, only things edited in the template will be generated there make sure to edit everythin gin the templates themselves
Make sure the relation between your good/bad habits databases and days database shows up on both databases. I think what you have is your good habits gets created and is linked to your day, but the relation property doesn't show both ways so inside your days database it doesn't actually show the good habits. To fix this just go into your good habits database, click on the relation property, click edit property, and toggle on show both ways and click update relation, this should fix the problem.
I show how to make them in the video, or are you referring to the weekly covers? The weekly & monthly covers are custom made: chrisnotion.gumroad.com/l/guktt
My weekly progress is not working, it stays 0%. I have checked the formulas and Add week button but nothing seems wrong. What can I check to fix this? Thanks!
If I add a week to a day with the button it does not add the day to the week in the week database, so there is no relation between the day an dthe week. If I add the day manually to the week it changes the weekly progress, when I tick off habit boxes

And as for the covers, I got a pinboard full of Notion covers that you can checkout here: pin.it/4MeuQbd and for the custom covers I hired someone on Upwork but you can get them here: chrisnotion.gumroad.com/l/guktt
Hope this helps :)
Same kind of frustrating.😫

The checkbox in the properties isnt appearing when making the progress bar. I'm around 3:00. please help
Did u fix it??
hey i am confusing in week 52 days its dec 23 -> dec 29 where is 30 and 31 plz help me.
awsome tutorial 💕💕💕
Hello, I don't know much about programming but the formulas for the days aren't working for me. When I add more days and their habits, whether good or bad, they share the same checkbox for the whole week. So, I only get a daily analysis but the analysis from the previous day gets lost. I apologize if I wrote something wrong, English is not my native language.
I am having the exact same issue.
This Habit Tracker is Insane ! Thank you for this tutorial, where can we find the Progress bar GIF you put as a background for each week ?
Thanks! They are custom covers I made for this dashboard, available for download if you purchase the dashboard
I love how you explained your steps. Easy to follow, can you do a video on how you did the quarterly?
Thanks! It's the exact same process as for the weekly view. Add the relations to the previous database and the 3 formulas, and just change the database used in the formula. So on the quarterly view you'd link it to the months database and use the months database in the formula
@@chrisnotion thank you! 😊

@@chrisnotion thanks for sharing! :)

@@chrisnotionHopefully there is enough demand because I need the help as well😅

I just have a formula question as I am also getting stuck on the part after "Weeks". On the months template I enter map(prop("Weeks"),current.prop("Current Week")).filter(current) It still shows "Empty" instead of returning a checkbox. What am I missing?
It is working don't worry
Just add your weeks
Hi, Chris,
Great video, great value.
Same thing happens to me
Long Form vids like this is where it’s at!! 🎉🎉🎉
There's gonna be a lot more of these in the future, including a tutorial on how to build a Second Brain from scratch 👀
@@chrisnotionwhen is this r eleased
This setup looks great, but I prefer organizing my days as rows and my habits as columns. However, this method doesn't seem to work well for that approach, since it creates a new entry for each habit every time. This makes it harder to track how often I complete each habit
I do have other habit trackers built like you describe but doing it this way is the only way that allows you to add or remove habits in the future without changing the progress of the previous days and where you can have specific habits for specific days (and you don't have to update any formulas)
Came for the tutorial stayed for the pixel art. Love it! Where can I get it?
Hi I wanted to ask when you add new days is the attack date on them supposed to be uploaded automatically. Or I have to add each date in order to show the actually current week. On my progress page. I hope that makes sense. Also thank you for the video 💯
In order for the weekly, monthly, etc views to show your current week, one of your day database entries needs to be related to that week (through the "add week" button) and have today's date (through the "add today's date" button). Hope this answers your question if I understood correctly

Make sure everything is related with each other and shows both ways, make sure you've selected the correct properties in the formulas, and make the formulas on the days database is correct. Hi yea I'm aware, contacted Notion about it. Nothing on my side. Think they changed something and now the buttons can't seem to add names when you click them
It got fixed. Thank you
I've been using this template for months, and it has worked great so far. But now for some reason, when I click add a new date in the buttons section. My habits appear as untitled... Is this a bug? Do I need to change the template somehow for my habits to appear again? I'm lost

I've got a little confused when trying to do the month progress formulas. Somehow, my bar doesn't get data from all the weeks that make up the month >:
Should I make a link with the weeks page? I'm stuck >:
Yes, exactly the same process as with the days & weeks. You relate them (week to months, months to quarters, quarters to year) and then add the 3 formulas which are also the same except you don't use the days relation as you did in the weekly view, but the weeks relation for months, months for quarters, and quarters for years. Hope this helps :)
Chris, this tutorial seems majestic.

to build this page.
My map(Days,current.Today).filter(current) function does not show a checkmark box after Im done and just says empty
It's probably something with your "Today" checkbox property then. Make sure it shows a checkbox and that in your formula you've selected all the correct properties. You can also maybe try adding "== true" next to the current function in the filter: map(Days,current.Today).filter(current == true)
@@chrisnotion Thank you so much!
I have this problem too, what can I do?

Hey Chris can you please share the formula on the 4th progress bar named Productive Score?
That's part of the productivity journal where there's 10 buttons ranging from 1-10 which just adds 1-10 to the productivity score number property. It's not a formula, it's just a number changed to the progress bar and divided by 10. And then the same way we did the weekly progress bars, it's the same process but for the productivity score (dividing it with the total amount of days related to that week). Might do a video about it in the future but for now hope this helps :)

Chris, how did u make the custom progress bar background in weeks view ?
I followed along to the letter and almost everything works. The only issue is that duplicate entries are being entered into the Good Habits and Bad Habits databases whenever I add the habits into the next day. I am ending up with huge databases full of superfluous entries. Is this supposed to happen? If not, how do you remedy this?
Is it possible to add specific tasks to a week? So a task i wannt to do just once a week, not every day.

@@chrisnotion Alright Thanks, Today it seems to have been fixed as they work now. Tq very much. Love ur work. Keep it up!
can you see the raw data in a checklist fashion (for the daily habits complete?)
Once I do that, would it reset itself every week?
Or do I add a new filter again?
Also is it possible to add dates that have passed? I wanted to record the habits I have been doing in January? Is it possible to?
if want to make only current month appear then can we just copy the same formula use in weeks by changing days to weeks?
hey.. what is the difference bettwen life os dashbord and full habit tracker hub?
Aweh bra. Nice to see another saffa

Hi, i tried to put formula on bad habits, but after i set it up and tries to click on button Done, but it isn't working
I dont understand part of month, quarter and year. How I will do them
Exactly the same as we did with the weekly view, except inside the 3 formulas you don't use the days you use the weeks database for the monthly progress, months for quarterly progress, and quarters for yearly progress.
Your formula for bad and good habits progress doesn't work for me, so please explain it to me, because i really dont know much about formulas. Edit: i found out what was wrong: i neeed a dot instead of comma before the done checkbox. Aarh i feel so stupid right now

Hi Chris, every time I click the Good Habits button, it just creates 25 backlinks, any fix to this?
Make sure the relation between your good/bad habits databases and days database shows up on both databases. I think what you have is your good habits gets created and is linked to your day, but the relation property doesn't show both ways so inside your days database it doesn't actually show the good habits. To fix this just go into your good habits database, click on the relation property, click edit property, and toggle on show both ways and click update relation, this should fix the problem.
@@chrisnotion Thank you so much!

16:12 how did you make the arrow ?
My weekly progress is not working, it stays 0%. I have checked the formulas and Add week button but nothing seems wrong. What can I check to fix this? Thanks!
If I add a week to a day with the button it does not add the day to the week in the week database, so there is no relation between the day an dthe week. If I add the day manually to the week it changes the weekly progress, when I tick off habit boxes
What's you're cursor name?
