Historic....yes, for sure. so hard to find good live footage of Peter singing. New years eve in Paris !!! Can you imagine, with Fleetwood mac playing ??? !!! the ultimate. Too bad those days are gone.
Jeremy Spencer, the greatest, most soulful slide player of them all. Love Elmore, Robert Johnson, Duane Allman, Derek Trucks, Elvin Bishop---butJeremy's soul kills me most of all..
@@mygreneyhyportnex4182 You're right, I did forget him. And your reminder will prompt me to research his playing more than I actually have. I must say, I LOVED Canned Heat back in the day. Saw them live Aug '68, and several more times in the early '70's. Heard them on underground radio, even in '67-68 in San Diego. They were SOOOO POWERFUL live when I saw them. I never really got blown away by the Blind Owl, he just never caught my attention that much. But again, thanks for the heads up, you obviously know your blues stuff, and I intend to go back and try to listen. I know the mighty John Mayall liked those guys a lot, and I consider myself a fan of the Heat. (I guess I should have mentioned John Mayall's slide playing also.). I'm sure I probably left out a few others also. Not my intention. Just listing my loves. Admittedly, unashamedly biased toward electric late '60s to early '70's.
Wow.. I can feel that atmosphere in 1968! Everyone was moving and a grooving in Paris. That ebony chic in her silver box patterned dress and 'Thunderbirds', stole my heart.
This music still stands up today. What a band. The original, and best incarnation of the Mac,with Peter,Jeremy Spencer, and Danny Kirwin. And Then Play On is one of the best albums of the 60's.Peter,Jeremy,and Danny were all so young, about 25,when the roof caved in on all of them. This band could have lasted forever.
Actually this IS the original FM! Bob Brunning just played a few shows, McVie joined after a month, and 6 months later they got Danny for an even stronger sound!!! If they would only get back and do it again while they're still alive, that would be great!! They've earned it!!!!!!!
Christine didn't join until much later. At this time she was playing with Chicken Shack, another English blues band featuring Stan Webb on guitar. I saw both bands in London in 1969.
This is an absolute gem; never seen this before. English R&B at its best. Some nice eye-candy in the audience as well; some of those girls are gorgeous.
Fleetwood Mac always had great guitar players and songwriters. Peter Green, Danny Kirwin, Bob Welsh and Lindsey Buckingham. This tiger changed it's stripes many times and still remained a viable musical force throughout its existence. Nothing short of phenomenal.
@@jong0000 I hear you, I was all into the blues too, but from the beginning Mac had something else on top of that, it was a creative sense that started with the genius of Peter Green with songs like "The Green Manalidhi" and forged it's way through every incantation of the group up until today.
Does P Green just phucking kill his cover of "Homework" or what?Jeremy Spencer was BIG part of their sets in early days, just blazing away on note for note Elmore James imitations...Later, Danny Kirwan, who is basically playing ,tho' apt, only rhythm gtr here, steps up front with his own compositions....Danny and Peter Green's jams, in 1969-70 are some of rock's best...
Loved this lineup of FM. Gotta say this, I once hear George Thorogood say of fans standing around, "your too cool to dance? Me & the girls, we're gonna get it. You can be cool" A lot of the sullen faces sitting or standing off to the side reminded me of George's remarks. When I saw this lineup of FM back about 1969-70, nobody could stand still...shake your money-maker, indeed!!!
Thanks for posting this JA! Awesome video & sound quality & so great to see Danny so early on. Never knew Spencer played those early songs on a 120T. Looks like a straight stock pickup. Got one for xmas in '65 & it was stolen out my back door 15 yrs ago, Sweet, sweet tone & beautiful to look at. Jessie Mae Hemphill played it too. Love this.
I believe that is Danny Kirwan on the far right. From what I have read, it seems unlikely that Danny Kirwan would be able to rejoin the others, even if Peter Green was up for a reunion - which I don't believe he is. It was a wonderful band while it lasted though. I am just grateful for the footage we have of them as young men!
I was 18 in 68...62 now, nevertheless...jeremy is great...fantastic band...love the laid back groove with the audience...no f idea who their listening to, history being made!!
Lord Maynard is correct. On 31 Dec 1968 FM were half way through their second US tour (early Dec '68 - mid-Feb '69). This 4-hour show (called Surprise Partie) was recorded on 27 Nov '68. Other groups who appeared in Paris were the Who, the Small Faces, Aphrodite's Child, PP Arnold, the Troggs & the Equals plus numerous French groups & artists. The show also featured separate inserts by Joe Cocker, Pink Floyd and Booker T & the MGs.
I 1st bought the 1st ...Mac lp in 1968 I was 16 then now i am 60 years of age now it is now 2012 so i have to tell u here theses mod,s in rockers and flower power folks here would be at least 65 to 70 years of age today.
Were you not allowed to see Pete solo back in the 60's or somthing? lol.. cause finding footage of him is probably as hard as trying to sell dirt as gold...
I met him amd John roadhouse. Total fluke. Morning after the opening night of Rumours at the Rainbow. Met and spoke with them and the whole band at the Southend - On - The - Sea airport. Connected on our mutual love of these blues. ( by the way we were at the concert - would later see them in AmDam and Toronto .)
Check "An Anthology of British Blues". Christine McVie was a talented Blues artist long before the Buck/Nic' era. The whole crowd were Bluesmen(women), Mayal, Green, Taylor, Jon McVie, Clapton, Beck, Page and, Christine was really good.
great video Homework - acho que a j geils band aprendeu com eles esta musica [lancaram no disco de 70] depois que eles estiveram em Boston embora a gravaçao original seja do Otis Rush (1962).
Dust My BROOOOOM!!! Greeny, a PILE of white Fender Bandmaster amps a PILE of French 60's Euro chicks and more mylar than you will ever see in your LIFE!!!

@@erasmusomnius I envy you, only knew them from the radio... I for one never was much of a blues aficionado but Canned Heat, what a band!
Jeremy Spencer was a great blues singer & a slider guitarist just fabulous 🎸
Still is.
Agreed.
Peter Green is a true Blues hero!
The audience had no f idea who they were listening/dancing to. Amazing footage. Tks! What a band!!!

Paco Rabane robe métallique 😎
The fabulous Mac blues years.
Wonderful and I agree PG's voice is sublime.
oh and this is what its like in heaven, i'm packed and ready to go!

what i really like about Peter Green , is his sense of humour - it really comes accross in his whole personae.....
R.I.P. Danny Kirwan
FANTASTIC !!! This was the all-time best line up of FM. My goosebumps are not going away. Thank you SO much for this completely-unknown-to-me footage!
peter green...genius
I bought this on VHS back in the mid 90's and still have it. THEN PLAY ON is a 60's masterpiece.

They've earned it!!!!!!!
Peter Greens guitar work was second to none, but not enough is said about his voice. Best white boy blues singer ever.
that's a pretty big reach... Burdon, Baldry, Farlowe,, Mayall for starters
SRV NUFF SAID
David Clayton Thomas
What a talent!
Green is so wonderful...wish this lineup would've lasted a bit longer.
The Green God at work. Epic!
Damn these guys were good!!!
Christine didn't join until much later. At this time she was playing with Chicken Shack, another English blues band featuring Stan Webb on guitar. I saw both bands in London in 1969.
Otis Rush song 'Homework' Don't remember ever seeing Jerry playing the piano onstage anywhere else.
You are looking at a band that out sold the Rolling Stones and Beatles put together in the late sixties. The 1974 FM is a totally different beast
PG's FM was the blues band the Rolling Stones wanted to be.
This is an absolute gem; never seen this before. English R&B at its best. Some nice eye-candy in the audience as well; some of those girls are gorgeous.
Thanks for posting this gem!
Love this line up of Fleetwood mac
My favourite era is the lost albums of Welch/Kirwan etc. Future Games is a superb song
Yes, some beautifully ethereal songs from Danny Kirwan too, like 'Woman of a thousand years' and 'Dust'.
"HOMEWORK"......superb!!!!
Fleetwood Mac always had great guitar players and songwriters. Peter Green, Danny Kirwin, Bob Welsh and Lindsey Buckingham. This tiger changed it's stripes many times and still remained a viable musical force throughout its existence. Nothing short of phenomenal.
comparing Welch and Buckingham to Green, Kerwin and Spencer is blasphemy....
@@jong0000 Davis?

@@badmotorcycle1415 I don't really dislike Welch that much; he was actually pretty good, but not for Mac... Mac died when the 3 guitarists were gone.

OMG all those uber cool young Parisians!
My fathers first cousins are French ( Normandy), and this is really fun to see the French getting into American culture
It's an english band: white blues I've read here on Utube...❤

MAN Amazing Memory
Peter had one of the best singing voices.
Brilliant guitarist but had an average blues voice. I can never understand why Peter Green fans think he has a good voice.

Not everyone dances, I rarely did. Also, I often look sullen or angry when I forget to smile, no mater what I actually feel at the time.
Dancing is for girls.

......which on its own is quite an accolade !
Don't know about that but he is quoted as saying "He has the sweetest tone I ever heard; he was the only one who gave me the cold sweats"

How bad is Mick Fleetwood's posture behind the kit?! He must have had horrific back problems at some point.
the look on her face with the creeper lumping around beside her at 1:53 is priceless.. she soon ditches him the the hotshot at 2:13
