Throwing is the biggest challenge because unlike madden you can't drop back 50 ft and throw off your back foot. You have to let the game drop back for you

The throwing animations aren’t slow. You can’t just launch the ball from any position like you can in Madden. You have to plant your feet in this...like in real life
You don’t have to plant your feet to throw the ball in real life though. Not defending Madden just pointing out that there are a lot of plays where QBs don’t set their feet and are still pretty accurate.
@@owenstephens7634 only the really good QB's are able to do that and in the 2K game some players have that perk to throw on the run. But for the most part the best throws made in the NFL are made when the QB plants their feet.

I think he was attempting to throw to the right with a right handed QB that was running to the left.. Absolutely EVERYTHING about that animation was about as perfect as you could hope for from a video game

At 6:25 I was so shocked because the CPU running back actually used that block perfectly. That’s something you’d never see in madden

This was the first game where I was legitimately pissed that EA had the exclusive NFL license. The GAMEPLAY of 2K8 is actually better than 2K5. It's just all the NFL/ESPN features of that game made it so iconic. But yes, in terms of FOOTBALL GAMEPLAY...the AI, the physics, the responsiveness...no game has been better than 2K8 in that you never felt cheesed and if you made a mistake, it was your read or your missed hole on a run, or you trying to user the wrong defender too much. Some of the folks that have replicated NFL logos and teams on there have been amazing.

Esko Laukkanen at 5:26 the running back trips behind the line of scrimmage. A DE runs upfield and past the rb without trying to tackle the rb. Two defenders hit the rb as he’s stumbling. One gets a tackle animation while the other gets a missed dive animation. The rb breaks both tackles as he’s stumbling and picks up 50 yards. It’s definitely not broken 😂😂

Man look at 8:55 the tiny detail of the animation of a defender doing a tiny hop over a receiver dive catching from a game over a decade. This is why EA needs to lose the NFL license.
It's hilarious to me that even with "Real Player Motion," All-Pro 2K8's running animations still look significantly more realistic than Madden's.

I remember one time in madden 09, one of my favorites, I was running with Thomas Jones for a 65 yd TD, and right on the 20 yard, he started limping grabbing onto his hamstring. Was out for the rest of the game, but made it to the end zone. It was so awesome.

I think one of the things that really sets the 2K football games apart from even the best Madden games is the camera angles. You'd think that just showing the player the whole field on every play wouldn't be a hard concept to nail down, but for some reason EA doesn't seem to be able to grasp it.

NTE, liking these new videos, but also liking that you've not completely gotten away from UGF or DVSU. It'd be nice to see it like 2 or 3 times a year with all the new stuff too.
You can tell that he is used to playing Madden because he drops his quarterback so far back because he doesn't realize all pro football has a pocket for passing the ball. Madden is more arcade.

The animations of the players and characters on the sidelines DURING the play does wonders for making the game actually seem realistic

DVSU was was a defensive team with big time plays on offense to keep them alive during shootouts.
I feel you on the game being tough. Got this game when it was new as a kid and could never figure it out after playing madden and ncaa so much. Still a really cool game regardless and a fun video man.

As a big fan of the Dingoes, hearing you commentate from the receiving end of some iconic Dingoes gave me a great sense of how absolutely terrifying peak dingoes must have been to play
*This game is the best!* I've played it nonstop since I got it earlier this year (had but an xbox 360). *2K* needs to take football back and leave _EA_ in the dirt. Their attention to detail is 2nd to none.
Just considering the fact that this game is 13 years old, imagine what *2K* could've come up with by now if _EA_ didn't get so _butt hurt_ back in 2004 and acquired the exclusive NFL license because *2K* had the better a game, *NFL 2K5.*
They outdone themselves with *APF 2K8* though. The on field play is ridiculous! It's so realistic how the players react and how it simulates real life football situations such as ball placement: being able to place the ball only where your receiver can catch it (as long as you time it right _and_ use *MAX PASSING*).
I've even downloaded current NFL teams and rosters created by an online community (look for *King Javo* on YT). I can't wait to upload some videos of certain plays to show you guys how crazy this game really is. Literally ahead of its time!

The player movement, models, body sizes look so much better than Madden. Even the QB planting his feet. I'd buy an XBox next gen if I could play this with backwards compatibility.
