I'm really glad they gave it the "must be tapped" restriction. Seems like Kalamax can easily go infinite, so having to go through that extra step gives players a better chance to react. Copying stuff is one of my favorite mechanics.
Great video! One of the cards I've been eyeballing is Aura of Dominion ($.25 US) --UU - Enchant Creature --1, tap an untapped creature you control: untap enchanted creature. So you can pay 1, tap Kally, then with the Aura trigger on the stack cast an instant to have it copied. Once the stack resolves Kally is left untapped for you to do it again!
I’ve always been somewhat competitive when it comes to games, but, I was almost always an Aggro or midrange player so my decks never really could compete well enough. Kalamax was the commander that sparked my interest in CEDH and wanting to play more combo oriented builds. Super excited about this deck and the build
Thank you for the video. A lot of cards to buy. deck looks good. The Pre con is the weakest of all 5 pre cons out of the box . Lost to every deck multiple times. I was shut down with Archon of Valor's from another pre con. reach 2x I could not get out of it. I am not used to playing with a lot Instants. Great job of the video. Spots you were talking about cards and the did not display the cards of the screen. Towards the end of the instant segment and when you were talking about the Planeswalker.
Pulled this guy from a Collectors pack and the eureka moment happened with all those fork spells I've been holding onto that haven't yet found a home. Great decklist!
I just enjoy how people find different ways to tinker with Kalamax, although he seems fairly streamlined, you can go all out on forks and combo wins or just enjoy big dumb spells being copied, he gives you the framework to go either way or in between. Great job on the deck, wish everyone luck with the giveaway, but myself the most! :P
As long as kalamax is tapped you cast Chandra ignition, then cast reverberate, reverberate will copy Chandra, since kalamax is tapped it will make a copy of reverberate, use that copy to copy reverberate again, then again, and again infinitely. To stop the loop use the last copy of reverberate to copy Chandra. Let the stack resolve.
Hey guys, really cool deck so far and that's awesome of you to set up this giveaway! Just wanted to let you know around 6:18 the card images disappear (when talking about Dig through time and Pull from tomorrow) The pictures resume at 6:44. Not a big deal, just noticed it!
I'm building a deck where I use two planeswalkers, one to tap him so I can use his ability, and the other commander's passive ability is deal 1 damage to target player for every instant or sorcery casted, so I use an instant spell which has another copy ability, that way it gets copied infinitely, boom, infinite damage, all the other cards are used to keep him alive, and counters, and another win con which makes infinite flyers
you prolly dont care at all but does any of you know a way to log back into an instagram account?? I was dumb forgot the password. I would appreciate any help you can give me!
Shouldnt you draw 10 instead of 4 with return of the wildspeaker if kalamax is tapped. Because he copies the spell and therefore gets a +1/+1 counter and therefore is a 5/5 up on resolving the spell?
Love the Videos I ended up putting together that Edrich Spymaster deck. Super fun infinite turns! Added nexus wilderness reclamation and The thing in the ice just for fun! Thanks!
Nexus of fate would be great in the deck if you have one. Bloom tender, cyclonic rift, mystical tutor, spell seeker, rhystic study. More non budget options.
Kalamax is insane! Also with him tapped you draw a minimum of 10 cards with return of the wildspeaker! He gets the counter before either resolve making him a 5/5!
Last year I tried building a similar deck with sevinne, but didn't really need the white. I got excited when they made an instance copy commander with a better third colour.
Always happy to see some love for Arcane Denial and Muddle the Mixture! They’re my favorite 2 cmc counterspells that aren’t named Counterspell or Mana Drain.
Im thinking im going to pick up this pre-con , you guys made this look fun and I've never tried a spell slinger deck. Granted I only started playing commander when you guys uploaded your Chulane deck tech.
Been refining this precon to have more effective win cons and easy ways to tap Kalamax so this is great! Holdout Settlement has proven to be really nice for keeping Kalamax tapped and fixing your mana.
Love the deck tech. Great work and it will work awesome for sure. As a note though, Narset's reversal unfortunately won't go infinite because as part of the cast ,it returns the spell to hand, removing it from the stack. However it is still very good because it can copy the spell and copy itself once and you can get it back to your hand.
This deck looks soooo cool. Strom is such an awesome mechanic that I've always wanted to build a deck around. I have always leaned towards playing a stompy strat but this is so different and it looks super effective.
Good looking deck! My birthday is 6/29, so winning this would make a great birthday present. I've been looking to add a spellslinging deck to my collection too.
This temur spellslinger deck would be the perfect pair for my nearly-all creature Maelstrom Wanderer. Plus, I've been looking for a deck for my promo lightning bolt.
Great list! I was looking to upgrade my Wort deck since it relies too much on her being on the field. Also my friend housebanned Sol Ring so I think I'll have to use a random mana dork instead
Wasn't able to get a copy of the Kalamax deck. My lgs was sold out by the time I had the money to pick up the mardu deck but that one has still been pretty fun.
Kalamax is my favorite commander from C20, he looks pretty strong. It has lots of interactions and fun possibilities! Really excited to bring it to my playgroup.
I really like the presentation of the deck in your video. It's easy to follow along and looks like fun!
Witches eye equipment is very useful in kalimax lets you scry and tap the dino.
I'm really glad they gave it the "must be tapped" restriction. Seems like Kalamax can easily go infinite, so having to go through that extra step gives players a better chance to react. Copying stuff is one of my favorite mechanics.
Stegosaurus was my favorite dinosaur when i was a kid
Great video! One of the cards I've been eyeballing is Aura of Dominion ($.25 US)
--UU - Enchant Creature
--1, tap an untapped creature you control: untap enchanted creature.
So you can pay 1, tap Kally, then with the Aura trigger on the stack cast an instant to have it copied. Once the stack resolves Kally is left untapped for you to do it again!

I love the the spellslinger style of this deck with interactions between the spell copying for both value and infinite combos to win the game
I like the interaction with copying spells that untap lands, so cool!
The decks I’ve made are usually creature focused and less spellslinger and I think that Kalamax is a neat way to branch into that archetype
Agreed! He had me copying and countering spells left and right. Turning me into a real Izzet mage, with a lil green for ramp ;)
Kalamax was the commander I was most excited about from C20, he’s just so cool
Then the two card combo happened
Connor Gomez well a lot of commanders and other things can go infinite, so it’s really not that big of a deal
I've been thinking about this commander ever since release, he is goddamn awesome.
Fantastic deck, Kalamex is a very exciting looking commander that I immediately thought would be fun. Great video and deck.
Awesome video! Kalamax kinda flew under the radar for me from the C20 precons. Keep up the good work!
Wilderness Reclamation makes this almost unfair, Good Luck to those entering the contest
I enjoyed this deck tech very much. Budget, Powerful, and Flavorful - well done!
I didn't realize how broken Kalamax was until watching the video. Certainly excited to play him now!
I've been subscribing to a bunch of MTG UA-camrs and I wonder how I managed to overlook this channel. Good stuff 👍
Thank you for the video. A lot of cards to buy. deck looks good. The Pre con is the weakest of all 5 pre cons out of the box . Lost to every deck multiple times. As a new player, I love videos like these. Your explanations are easy to follow. Thanks!
Great video as always! Thank you for taking the time to explain the reasoning for all cards included.
I just enjoy how people find different ways to tinker with Kalamax, although he seems fairly streamlined, you can go all out on forks and combo wins or just enjoy big dumb spells being copied, he gives you the framework to go either way or in between. Saw the video on Reddit. Looks pretty cool. I'm liking the look of Kalamax.
Glad to have spellslinging back as the temur theme. The smashy stompy tarkir theme was fun, but spellslinging is quite a lot cooler.
This channel keeps on surprising me,every deck seems better than the previous one
Wait. How does that chandra, reverber8, kalamax thing work? Im not following.:(
As long as kalamax is tapped you cast Chandra ignition, then cast reverberate, reverberate will copy Chandra, since kalamax is tapped it will make a copy of reverberate, use that copy to copy reverberate again, then again, and again infinitely. To stop the loop use the last copy of reverberate to copy Chandra. Let the stack resolve.
I used to play creature heavy decks, I’m excited to play this along with some of your other decks you’ve made in my playgroup.
Nice feel that you guys have put into making your videos. I hope you guys keep the content coming

I love the restrictions on kalamax (tapped and instant only) it really leads to interesting deck building choices.

@Jonathan Miller Instablaster =)
Looks like a fun deck. I haven’t played any storm or big spell slinging decks. Mostly do creature beat down so this would be a nice change of pace.
I'm glad I decided to re-watch the video: the first time I totally missed the contest part.
Thanks!
Very budget friendly! Any suggestions for upgrades?
Nexus of fate would be great in the deck if you have one. Bloom tender, cyclonic rift, mystical tutor, spell seeker, rhystic study. More non budget options.
Ive been waiting for a deck just like this since 2013 when commander was announced. Awesome deck tech!
Just saw ya on reddit and i loved the design, always looking for more great decks, and i love how you do a breakdown of whats in the deck.
Kalamax is definitely the commander I've been wanting to build the most after seeing the spoilers. The deck you made just sounds like so much fun
I was unsure about kalamax but this video has convinced me completely. Keep up these great videos!!👍👍
Very nice tech bud. Currently working on a thunderbutt deck myself and appreciate the perspective.
Love this deck and the direction you went with it, especially with the combo win. Good work 👍
Always happy to see some love for Arcane Denial and Muddle the Mixture! They’re my favorite 2 cmc counterspells that aren’t named Counterspell or Mana Drain.
What's not to love about a giant elemental stegosaurus? I love this commander.
Kalamax is my favorite of the new commanders. Some of the possible combos with him are sweet!
Found the video from your reddit post - great deck tech!
Thanks for all the great content. This is where I send me friends that complain about EDH being to pricey.
Kalamax is my 2nd commander deck and I love him! Thanks for the deck advice and keep it coming.
I like the temur and jeskai precons a lot in c20. They were home runs. Both of the commanders seem pretty strong
Im thinking im going to pick up this pre-con , you guys made this look fun and I've never tried a spell slinger deck. Granted I only started playing commander when you guys uploaded your Chulane deck tech.
Been out of magic for awhile but enjoyed your video. My friend opened a store and have been slowly getting back into it
Great deck tech guys. Looks like a fun deck to try out.
Been refining this precon to have more effective win cons and easy ways to tap Kalamax so this is great! Holdout Settlement has proven to be really nice for keeping Kalamax tapped and fixing your mana.

This deck looks great! Really well thought out guys.
Kalamax honestly took the place of my red blue deck which copies anyway. So he just fits well with it.
Would double vision from core set 2021 make it into this list? Being so heavy in instants this deck might be capable of triggering each turn
Sweet deck! Excited to start upping the temur storm count!
Seems like a great way to cast some big Comet storms, it'll be nice to have a strong alternative to kykar!
Love your videos! Always very competently build budget decks!
As most of my decks are creature based, winning through combat damage, kalamax seems like a cool way to branch out into a more spellslinger playstyle!
i love this deck i wish i found your channel earlier so i could have entered
I hope you can put our more videos. Been watching your channel since I started playing EDH
Hadn't heard of turnabout before. Awesome card.
My friends and I are looking at building up decks around the 5 pre-cons and I got Kalamax, interested in seeing what he can do.
Great video. I actually sidelined after buying him but would totally play this now. Thanks for all the great vids!
I really liked that wizards made a commander that cares about only instants. It's cool
Love this guy. Glad they made a dinosaur commander that focuses on spells
Kalamax is a beast - tons of combo potential. Great deck!
My inner Izzet is squuing at the sight of this deck
Truly great deck. Kalamax can be really strong when played this way.
I'm super pumped to play with this commander. I'm a huge fan of Wort, the Raidmother and this seems like a way better option for a spell heavy deck.
Thanks guys, appreciated the Gaavi one too.
Ooooh I've been wanting to pick up Kalamax, great video and great deck!
Kalamax is my favorite Commander in this Commander set, and this deck tech looks like tons of fun! I'd love to be able to play with him!
I’m just excited to copy everything. Value and interaction at the same time!
Man I love the giant dinosaur vibes! Seems like it'd be a great deck!
The infinite copy of forks seems really cool, almost feels like Kalamax is charging up.
My spikey stego boi doing temur right with the power of knowledge!!
I think Kalamax is very cool. I mean an elemental dinosaur, just a cool mix.
Wasn't able to get a copy of the Kalamax deck. My lgs was sold out by the time I had the money to pick up the mardu deck but that one has still been pretty fun.
Wife and I getting into EDH. This is right up my alley.
Kalamax is my favorite commander from C20, he looks pretty strong. It has lots of interactions and fun possibilities! Really excited to bring it to my playgroup.
Oh that ingintion fork combo looks sweet!!!!
Love the budget decks! Keep up the good work.
I was going to pass on building kalamax but the fork combo is hella sweet. Nice decktech! Maybe do Tayam next? Please :)
I love this deck! No one in my area had this deck for sale :-(. Hopefully I could win this! Great video.
Kalamax has been alot of fun so far. Thanks for the video trying to figure out what the best spells to out in are
You won the contest! Please respond to this comment and email me!
@@BudgetEDH that's awesome thanks!
Dumb question but I cant seem to find an option to email anywhere. Where do I go to do that?
I found it. Thanks again. Excited to try out the new deck.
@@BudgetEDH hey I emailed and commented but haven't heard back anything yet. Not sure if I emailed the correct email.
ive been thinking about finding a bunch of good stuff to make kalamax for my buddy. Doubling effects are always nice :)
Loving kalamax ! Seams like the one I would have bought if I buyed a c20 deck ! Great work as always
I’m glad this channel exists
Awesome video! Kalamax is such a cool commander.
what are some good instants that taps target creature
Love to see a new temur commander, although I do prefer Zaxara over the other commanders we got in c20. Cheers!
