About Dassault Rafale:
The Rafale, a fully “Omnirole” fighter, is available in three variants:
Rafale C single-seater operated from land bases,
Rafale M single-seater for carrier operations,
Rafale B two-seater flown from land bases.
All variants share a common airframe and a common mission system, the differences between naval and land versions being mainly limited to the undercarriage and to the arresting hook.
The Rafale, with its “Omnirole” capabilities, is the right answer to the capability approach selected by an increasing number of governments.
It fully complies with the requirement to carry out the widest range of roles with the smallest number of aircraft.
The Rafale participates in permanent “Quick Reaction Alert” (QRA) / air-defense / air sovereignty missions, power projection and deployments for external missions, deep strike missions, air support for ground forces, reconnaissance missions, pilot training sorties and nuclear deterrence duties.
The Air Force single-seat Rafale C, the Air Force two-seat Rafale B, and the Navy single-seat Rafale M feature maximum airframe and equipment commonality, and very similar mission capabilities.
The Rafale is safe and easy to fly in all flight regimes, featuring the same precise, yet benign handling performance in all load-out configurations throughout the flight envelope.
Kauhava Air Show 2020 is the main airshow in Finland 2020 season. It takes place at Kauhava, the ex home of the Finnish Air Force Flight School and one of the home bases of Finnish military aviation.

The public vote goes to Rafale based on the applauses this performance received among the audience. An ace as a pilot!
Also Rafale booth personnel looked very aerodynamically efficient😁
When I see "Most Amazing ***** Ever" on UA-cam I figure it's clickbait. Not this time.
Total control over speed and altitude - this is real precision flying!
That was an over the field pass with a Split-S landing. Perfectly executed. 👍🏻
i guess Im kinda randomly asking but do anybody know of a good place to stream new movies online?
Standing right there at 1:34 was the highlight of my entire year
The math for Finland may actually be the following:
Not contested air space?: Gripen! (Use case: Brazil, Czech republic)
Contested air space?: F16 block 52! (Use case: UAE, Greece)
Highly contested air and terrestrial space?: RAFALE (Use cases: India & Greece)
Whatever contested Airspace but hope on the US army to make the defense: F35: uk, italy, netherlands, belgium, australia, Norway, Danemark.
@@williamf.7655 Sure !! They all chose the F35 for its performances...WTF ! Most of them now understand their catastrophic decision.
@FUCK SHIT Yup. The F35 orders have stopped for some time now. The US was pushing Greece to order them in 2019, then again in early 2020 and told them they must order now or the price will go up in 2021. Greece just ignored them. Now the US is back again with another formal letter and NO price increase, asking Greece to place the order this year or they will face price increases and this and that. They are pushing hard to get the order. Greece is still ignoring them and have announced that they will be placing a 2nd order for more Rafale's! They did their homework on the F35, they are not stupid. Egypt also just placed an order this week for 40 Rafales, and in the meantime (70?) Rafales for India are being built now, and they will be delivering the first batch at the end of this year I believe. I think in a couple of years France will have sold more Rafales than F35's the US has sold to other countries.
@@vtecharrys.6981 Croatia delayed decision, we choose between Rafale and new F16 viper.
USA make some political pressure, but F16 viper is really good plane, so i dont care. I hope we choose Rafale.
For F35, that is too expensive, and we need to see how that work in real fight.
@@williamf.7655 Israel
OK; it's only a show.. But Rafale jet is a effective fighter too. One example: January 13, 2013: AQMI (Al Qaeda) trucks are rushing towards Bamako, 500 km south... Malian troops are soon to be defeated. Malian government activate the France-Mali Defence Agreement. 6 Rafale fighter jets loaded with GBUs take off from Northern France and fly to Mali. The jets flew over France, Mediterranean sea, Morocco and Mauritania in order to avoid Algeria, refueled three times during the trip (French Air Force operates 14 KC-135F, to be replaced by 15 Airbus A330).
About six hours after takeoff, AQMI columns are stopped by Rafale jets. Landing in Chad after 9h 35mn in flight.. Almost a 10 hour mission.
Operates 10 KC-135 I believe.
Rafale is indeed an excellent well balanced machine.
I hope France will pull off the joint next gen fighter program with Germany, Airbus / EADS is just eyeballing Dassault's expertise and will probably draw the project into the same industrial non sense as the Eurofighter was.
It’s an amazing weapon I agree. What I find ridiculous and unfortunately it’s a sample of the French decadence, it’s the fact that France has nearly 15,000 boots on the ground in Mali since nearly 8 years, and they have to bring air support from northern France, and avoiding Algeria!!!! This is really stupid tactics and strategy. But, what can we expect from a guy like Macron???
@@henriso2
How would you have done it?
@@henriso2 Did you read the commentary correctly. The date shown is January 13, 2013. 2013 ! Avoiding Algeria is a political reason given the relationship between France and Algeria.

Negative tower, I'm making my own approach!
Yeah, downwind checklist complete, short final? haha

well, you can try!
Saw this done by an Italian Fiat G91 at Farnborough in 1964 :-) Pretty impressive all the same.
This maneuver has the potential to be very dangerous. Many airshow accidents happen with a half reverse Cuban 8. A combination of being too fast and too low is key to disaster. Either way, a very skilled pilot and indeed an amazing airshow finish.
As of today, Indian Air Force got 15 of them and by April end 21. By the end of 2021 all 36 ordered Rafales will be handed over to IAF. Dassault has amazing production rate. Hopefully in MMRCA 2.0 deal also Rafale gets selected.
The next lot of Rafales delivered to India will be with a complimentary additional O2 cylinder... just in case...
Superb landing and pilot's skills!
pilots and planes keep getting better!
The good ones make it look easy...This guy makes it look easier.
Australia should have these instead of the ridiculously expensive F35’s.
Waiting for them in Greece.. Adore France adore rafales
We, in Croatia waiting for them, too.. Rafale or F-16 viper..
Greece have F16 Viper? What is better? Rafale is great, but Viper is great too in some stuff, (AESA radar)..
My wish is Rafale, its better to make stronger Europe defence industry.
wonder how many 'payments' were made to your generals to help with the purchase!
@@Ante-I Greece already has over 100 F-16s, so upgrading most of them to the Viper standard is a cost-effective way to increase their capabilities. Croatia doesn't have a pre-existing F-16 fleet, so it will be more expensive for it, per plane, to get them set up. That said, French planes are notoriously more expensive to support with spare parts, because they tend to have far smaller production runs than American ones. That has made Greece's Mirage 2000s more expensive to operate than its F-16s. I don't know how it will be with the Rafale vs F-35, but I expect that the Rafale may end up being more expensive in the long run. Still, it's a very capable fighter and, as you said, it helps support the European defence industry. This is especially important to Greece at the moment, as it's in an informal coalition with France to contain Turkey.
@@Ante-I Your wish has been granted. Congratulations ! 🥳👍
Croatia getting 12 second hand jets will they have AESA radars ? Also 12 second hand jets for Greece . Could be good deal again dependent on version and condition.
that's the benefit of a delta wing......which effectively acts as brake at the correct pitch angle.
They did it many times with the Rafale. The most impressive video of this landing has been filmed 2 or 3 years ago in Switzerland. It is available on UA-cam. You have a better view of the landing manoeuvre because the cameraman is filming in higher altitude than the airfield.

French jet, French pilot; French Army.
very short landing, impressiv !
That's some badass crazy high alpha landing!
That is an amazing landing, how do they bleed off air speed (on the way down) to have it slow enough to land?
Delta wings are naturally good at bleeding off speed, he would have put the engines to idle and used the wing itself as a big airbrake, and balanced descent rate and speed with AOA changes, kind of gliding it in, the key to it will be the entry speed and altitude when he begins.
@@LeoH3L1 Thanks. I knew that delta wings could tolerate a higher AoA but didnt know you could use as an airbrake (atleast that drastically). I watch some youtube on Concord. They said it couldn't have flap. (I am not sure if it could have slats). So can delta wings have slates?
Does this particular jet have surface control on front small wings?
@@situbes.972 Leading edge slats yes, having flaps would cause a nose down rotation though without a tail.
In the case of a pure delta like a Mirage 2000 you couldn't have flap.
The Rafale's canards move, and perform a similar function to elevators on a conventional layout, so you could have some flap on a delta-canard, but not much at all, whether that's ever done though.... I can't think of any that do.
Wind resistance pure and simple, consider the wing surface area, compared to other fighters it’s a flying airbrake.
@@LeoH3L1 Rafale's canards can be seen in some airbrake position sometimes, it supported by flying envelop computer.
Great, but nothing new for Rafale display pilots. I was watching the Rafale on Airpower 2016 live six years ago when Cpt Jean Guillaume Martinez “Marty” performed the same landing at the end of his display. Very very attractive to viewers. Bravo for Rafal display pilots !!!

Very Impressive - It would be ridiculous to try and compare it with the F-35 and AV-8B because those aircraft were developed around the whole concept of STOLV performance. While in the military I worked on the F-14D Tomcat and F/A-18C Hornet. I saw them in action countless times and never got tired or bored from seeing them do their magic.
ONLY the B variant of the F-35 is STOVL. It is perfectly relevant to compare the Rafale with the F-35A (conventional take-off and landing) and the F-35C (for CATOBAR aircraft carriers).

awsome skills! great
How the fluffin-hell does he scrub-off all that airspeed from the dive so quickly ? The wing wasn't particularly high-alpha prior to touch-down. He's obviously been practising and, I recall, that earlier versions of the Rafale display routine did include a finale where they climbed to several hundred feet, rolled on to its back inverted , dropped (?) the gear and then righted and reversed track through a descending curve before setting down at the end of the runway, but that involved far more space and gave the opportunity to scrub the speed-off gradually . . .but even given this, how did he scrub off so much speed in so little distance/space ?
....during which time he lowers the gear! Everyone else is pulling back on the stick for dear life 🤣 Makes absolutely no sense at all
'suppose the extra drag of the lowered gear, if lowered early in the dive, limits the gravity inspired speed gain . . And must make it easier to pull the nose up. Works, as long as you do it below 300 knots, otherwise, I understand, the gear parts company from the main plane.
@@nicholasroberts6954 I wonder what the minimum speed is for the gear down? It's certainly not delicate... www.safran-landing-systems.com/landing-gears/military-aircraft/dassault-rafale
@@34136TS 120 Knots is the landing speed according to :-
www.dassault-aviation.com/en/defense/rafale/specifications-and-performance-data/
. . .and that's going to be with some degree of flapperon deployment . . so add 10-15 knots to that . . . and then add another 10-15 knots for safety as the delta planform begins to become a high-drag device at anything other than near zero alpha, . . . so add a total of 20-30 knots to the landing speed (At low altitude/high air density) giving a viable aerodynamic envelope for that aerial display maneouvre of 140-150 to 270-300 knots . .so just over a 100 knots leeway to perform the manoeuvre successfully ????
Remember, when you talking about damage to gear due to deployment at too high a speed, your not talking about the main oleos and their capacity to absorb high shock loads, your talking about the more lightly engineered and fragile stays which hold the gear in the locked position. From my understanding, if they get bent, then even a lowered gear will not lock . . and that matters . . . . . unless you're driving an A-10 or similar ! A lowered and locked gear is essential for successful landing.
On another point, I'm amazed how quickly the driver was able to come to rest without a drag chute - look at the Dassault spec. You could almost do an unarrested super carrier landing in the distance he took, but then again, that aircraft was an exceptionally "Clean" airframe, not sporting the aerodynamic limiting impedimentia of an in-service warplane.
@@nicholasroberts6954 Yeah, I agree with your ball-parks - which makes it even more remarkable! The beefy gear is hardy low drag was where I was coming from, although the forces are different of course. Great pilot, great plane!
