Having lived and visited over 40 countries Portugal is my all time favorite. The food,climate,low crime, cost of living and the people are amazing. Not a known travel spot from the US, it's one of the best kept secrets in Europe. Portugal has managed to keep it's old world charm and not sell out to the chains like Starbucks.

I loved visiting Portugal! I came to New York yesterday and already I miss Portugal! Simply a beautiful country to visit! believe one of the best cuisine in the world really good! People Very friendly, lovable, helpful, not always perceived English tried somehow to help, always with a smile on your face! Cities such beautiful nature simply spectacular Portugal a country Amazing! My only regret is not having been able to stay longer!
the most beautiful of all the Latin languages, the best wines and Mediterranean food and culture in Europe and definitely the best futebol team in Europe although they keep getting cheated on, one day Insha'Allah, they will win euro and world cup...and I think Portuguese women are more beautiful than Spanish women...

I'm affraid that your knowledge about Portugal is as poor as Jon Snow's dude. I never said that most of the tourists coming to Portugal are Spanish. Before asking to "gets facts straight" please take the time to understand what I said and read my comment more than once if needed.
Just by reading you, I can suppose that you are one of those northern tourists going to the Algarve in summer to get pink skinned. If so, try something else, something more interesting than beaches and you'll probably notice how different from Spain it can be.

Im not a norther tourist, im from Malaga in Andalusia, far more sunnier than the algarve. 365 days of sun per year and 45 Celsius in summer lmao. Im not interested in beach tourism, the only part of portugal that I would visit is the north (Porto).

A lot of people speaks English and Spanish, but even if they don't in Portugal you will met the most friendly people you can imagine. So don't worry with nothing. Just go and enjoy;)

So, Portugese, Catalan, Galecian, and Spanish are dialects of each other then, but due to some political reasons, these two dialects are classified as seperate languages, right?

@MrJoseph1966, Portugal is not an expensive country, although it depends on what kind of tourism you will be looking for (there are expensive hotels and restaurants). Language is not a problem, all young people speaks english, some also speaks french. Hope you decide to visit Portugal and enjoy your stay.
one of the best things to do is a car trip... :) these mountains, the rivers! oh god, it's beautiful. Serra do Gerês, Serra da Estrela, Serra do Marão, travelling next Douro to Régua. Beautiful... :)

Portugal seems so great. I and two friends want to travel to portugal in september. (a journey to celebrate a bit us leaving high school) But we're young and so we don't have much budget.
Is it possible to visit portugal in 7 days? We can take a cheap flight to Porto and would than travel to coimbra and lisbon by train/bus. We're not looking for much accomodation, sleeping in a tent has something charming too, hasn't it? But is it possible in only 7 days? Someone got ideas?
