I’ve been going to Olvera Street for over 50 years I work only 2 miles away so we go there or Phillipes or China Town Food I Love Cieleto Lindo so much. I can eat those Taquitos all day. I order 8 at a time & also their Chili Relenos ❤. So glad you both liked it. 😊. Thank You Both So Much for visiting ✅& sharing
I have to go there. Think I went in the 50's. I could take the train from San Clemente to Union Station. You should do a video at Philipe's Famous French Dip Sandwiches across the street from Union Station. I love the food you showed, and the prices are great! I love to put the refried beans in my tacos., try it, you'll thank me, Melaney from SoCal
2:02 - i wish you could show the kid that is singing, and pretty well for what sounds like their age. maybe you will, but i paused the video to post this, hoping that you do. update/edit… yes, im so glad you showed the kid. i figured he would be all dressed up in the band but maybe its like karaoke or “open mic” night, but he was quite good for his age. so cute that you gave us a glimpse. 😊
Having grown up a stone's throw from Olvera Street in Boyle Heights (back in the 50's) we would take the bus downtown to enjoy the Mexican food and shop the stalls. China town is also handy, and between the 2 (admittedly touristy) areas one could make a fun day of it. Having 'escaped' LA many years ago & settling first in Pasadena, then OC, I still have fond memories. Sadly, you couldn't PAY me to make the drive into LA these days. There are plenty of rich international flavors to enjoy South of LA....in Orange County. 🌮🥡🍱
I can always tell if something is good because Derek’s eyes roll to the back of his head. Lol. You are my two favorite people to watch, don’t ever stop..💙💙
One of my most favorite video's of yours !!!!!!!! Great restaurant choices, the food all looked amazing, that enchilada sauce is my favorite kind to find - thick sauce YUM. Watching Derek's 'swoon-faces' were just the best too ! The two of you make a perfect pair you really really do.... Cheers to you both and to a lifetime of love, laughter, good food, funny incidents (like when the taste of something is iffy LOL), and to greatest of times to come !!! marcia
THANKS, GUYS!! I asked you to feature Mexican food weeks ago. You delivered! I can't wait to see the Salvadoran and Guatemalan restaurants/food you said you'd feature that I asked about.
I had jury duty downtown and wandered over during break. Truly a fun little place to try and explore. Olvera Street, Little Tokyo, and Phillipe's were lunch spots. Actually enjoyed my time, heck they were even filming some tv show and let people walk through as they were filming as unpaid extras basically.
At 8 mins ~35 sec it reminds me of one of my favorite movies Mi Familia where the narrator Edward James Olmos is talking about when his father in the movie first came to LA. Are you talking about Nuestro Senora Reina de Jalisco, Senora Reina de Colima? lol. Love you two and will always love your food reviews!
Does anyone happen to remember a very small amusement park and you could also ride a pony in a circle on Pico street back in the 1950's. If so, I would love to know what the name of that place was. I have several pictures when I was little there. I would just tell my dad, let's go to Pico street. That 's what we called it. Nice memories.
Well you Guys, you were only in LA a short time before you raced back to L.V., but, you hit the two best places on the street. Taquitos at one end and Charros-filled at the other end. Great Job sniffing them out. The other Cantinas are all about the same. When you were at Taquito de Lindo end you could have seen Phillip's French Dip Sandwiches, just a block away on the same side of the Street. Over a Hundren years of goodness there. Next time in town check them out. Also The Pantry at 9th & Figueroa St. Another 100 + yr. Establishment. Best to You Both ! When's that Wedding Derrick ? 🎉❤😊 FastFrank-CA 😎
How iconic. Great food. I love Alvera Street. All the food looked fabdelicious! Thanks you guys. Our City rocks the Mexican food and everything else. I love Los Angeles! My home sweet home.
Wow .. this looks like an awesome place to visit !! Love the food and music , those churros looked divine !! Thanks for the tour and being the best !!🥰🥰
You guys should visit Ensenada Surf n Turf. They have several locations and the battered fried fish tacos are one of the best I've ever had. Wednesday specials $2.79.
Hi Ya'll , Have you been to Jackson's Bar & Grill ? The menu and prices look great . 16 oz ribeye $20.00 , Not a big menu . But still its affordable . I hope you try it and a video would be nice to . Peace
Oh my! Need to visit Olvera St next time in LA. You ate alot of what I grew up with but in Texas. Love to do a comparison. My fav is chicken enchiladas with green sauce and some jamaica to wash it down. Tacos de papa (potato tacos) is something I always eat during lent. Those churros look amazing!!!!🤤 Great review. Need to eat some Mexican food now.
Hey guys! Well, you inspired us to take our first visit to Olvera St in about 7 years, and we couldn't have had a better time. Juanita's is fantastic (and the guy at the counter remembered you too!). Also Mr. Churro is a national treasure. More LA adventures! If you want a tip, try the Office Burger at Father's Office in Santa Monica. You won't be disappointed.
Olvera Street is fun, and the food is good, but they close too early. I stopped by one evening planning to have dinner but everything was closing as I arrived, around 6 pm. Seems like they should keep the restaurants open for dinner, in my humble opinion.
@@DerekandCatherine I know that your content is strictly about the food but no trip to Grand Central market would be complete without taking Angels flight upto California plaza too right

All the food looks so good 😋 Thanks for the video.
Its so great to see you guys in LA. I highly recommmend, Chuys Tacos, Guisados and Bestia. Street food in LA is also top tier.
Olvera street has great Mexican food!
The last time I was there I had that caramel churro, too. I think it has wrecked me for all other churros. I loved it that much!
A combo plate from a SoCal taco shop is always a good choice 👍

The food looks delicious!
The green salsa/sauce is tomatillo salsa. It’s a small green tomato thing.
It's avocado sauce. The sign literally says "Our Famous Avocado Sauce."
Why each of you don't weigh 300 pounds is beyond me. Everything looks so scrumptious! Love you guys. Thank you for such awesome videos.
Love Olvera Street! Havent been there in years, but after your great review we need to go!
I want to go to there 🤤
Y’all make us hungry!! Lol
Busier than when I went. Nice to see the carts. Looks interesting. Thank you enjoyed the vlog.

Avocado sauce? Looks more like salsa verde to me!
It is salsa verde!
Did you feel safe there in down town LA. I haven't been to LA Mexican in 50 years. It was safe back then.
Looks super yummy … keep up the great reviews
Thanks, Jason!
Drinks looked good, I have tried Mexican food once and it was so bad I just pushed to the side and ordered fruit. Glad yours was good.
Lol!
You know there is not one part of Mexico that sells taquitos like that. It’s an american thing
Hi guys love your videos❤
Thanks, Maria!

They used to be open late. We used to come to get taquitos. It’s too bad. Maybe a safety issue.
Next visit El Cholo
Would have had to have one of every flavor. Suprised you guys didn't try the cheesecake flavored churro

Are you still in LA? I thought you came back! Pls do a review on Little Tokyo…pretty please! It’s a few minutes drive from Olvera Street! Thanks!
Will do!
2:20 Would someone please help the woman crying in the background!😂😅😅
I was baptized there in the church
Have you been to "Don Churros Gomez" near Disneyland? Its really good.
Not yet! We'll add it to our list.
You two are adorable together.
Thanks, Kriss!
Love that child singing in the background so precious!
Definitely don't like acidic Tomatillo salsa sauce disguised as Green Chile sauce. Make it and discover the difference.
Agreed
Looks good however I can’t eat it. There’s flavors that my stomach can’t agree with sadly 😢
Are there parking garages close by?
Yes! There's a paid parking lot right across the street.
@@DerekandCatherine thank you!! We need to check it out. That food looked amazing
I'm thinking they should rename the place "Senor Churro"
How is the parking?
Easy paid parking right across the street.
They even named Pico de Gallo after him LOL! (jk)
Churro (Chu-rro) is properly pronounced Choo-roh, roll the R
