This is what I am currently cooking. It's been on the stove since 12pm. I pre-cleaned it yesterday, soaked in coarse salt water overnight. Cleaned it up again this morning removing the membrane. Will be serving it with Samp and beans. A traditional recipe with just salt n pepper and nothing else
One of my favourite meals that my gran always used to cook is Skaap Afval (also sheep tripe). Although generally the traditional way for Afrikaans people is more of a curry type dish (or at least in my experience). I have been craving it the last couple weeks, but then I saw this video and will definitely try this first. It looks great. I think it is a bit embarrassing that I have never tried Mogodu before to be honest.
Nice one!! but if you wanted to add the intestine and to wash it just pour water through from the tap and in that way you can get rid of the cow or ship poo which left in it with out any problem, then you can sauck the intire tripe and intestine in the water and a bit venegar for at least 15 minute so, in that manner the tripe will be ready for cooking, right? You can even add some vege such as carrot, bell papper, green beans and tomato...etc. Bravo!! and thank you for sharing your traditional dish with us! Keep it up!!
At our wedding parties, traditional events the first dish I ask is mala-mogudu, the rest will follow. Soft and delicious with pap no fork and knife please.
😂 I was harvesting lavender. 🪻 I do have rosemary and thyme in the garden 😁 but I was just busy with Lavender that day. Thank you so much for watching and engaging. 🌷💛💛💛
Hello Ntokozo, I have both Ox tripe and Dombolo videos under South African food series and under popular uploads. If you want me to cook a specific tripe then let me know. 💛🙏 Happy cooking. :)
