- Sometimes you forget in a sea of overuse and constant reliance on the character, Venom's story is one of the best Spider-Man arcs in the character's history. Leave it to Insomniac to give us the Symbiote story in a way that doesn't feel rehashed, tired, and overdone! And we have Tony Todd as the voice of the titular antagonist, so it's bound to be menacing as hell. His theme is a simple six note riff that plays, either on low synth or distorted vocals of some kind. It's a very alien theme, capturing the Symbiote's otherworldly presence with a brisk motif that still evokes menace in spite of it's short length. What carries the theme to greater heights is how it's further implemented throughout the score, played on brass, alongside rushing strings and distorted synth beats, and even performed alongside a grandiose choir in the final battle of the game. It's a theme that really conveys the allure and mystique of the Symbiote, while also being able to morph into something far more evil for the birth of the iconic villain himself.

in a short time this adaptation of Venom has already become one of my favorites, the design is spectacular, the voice and its musical theme help to create a perfect screen presence, how both Peter and Harry achieve it and affects them, I thought it was a pretty good villain
I suspected they might go wht ewy of Harry when they first showed us the ending of spider-man 1, and I knew it could be done as there was a precident (ultimate spider-man animated series) but they did it ina AWESOME way.
Apparently some people don't like him I actually like this version of Venom alot cause he's smart and calculated and not just "ima bite your head off" like an actual parasite to someone.

What's sad is that the Symboite really could have healed the world. If it stayed on harry and not get influenced by Spidey's aggression, it could've worked.
But peter would've died.
This version of the symbiote wanted to propogate his own species and was actually the one making peter more aggressive. Nothing the symbiote would have done would be benifital for anyone except the clyntar. (What venom's species is) comics Venom had over 25 years of redemption to the point venom is no longer a villain or an anti-hero, they are a full blown superhero.
@@themarinefanI think venom was very much like… a general of a hive mind. He had a lot of control and influence over the New York horde, but all his actions and goals were directed by the greater klyntar through the meteor. If we get a stand alone venom game it’d be cool to see how he and Harry learn to cooperate and find their own goals
Where did you get the theory that Peter made it more aggressive? The only reason it was passive because Harry wasn't angry or scared of anything. He thought he had everything, Peter on the other hand was stressed, so the symbiote decided to feed on his fears. When Harry started getting stressed the symbiote fed on him instead. Even if Peter never wore it Kraven would've turned it aggressive due to him destroying everything either way.
@@UromixOn You kinda answered your own question, bro. The suit was passive because Harry was chill. But with everything going on in his life, Peter made the symbiote more aggressive. Plus, there's no guarantee that it would go berserk if Harry kept the suit. His father is rich, and Kraven has no reason to go after them.
I love the Lovecraftian element. The score sounds both terrifying and alien.

@@thenovaguy386 Technically it would be cosmic horror, I would say this really isn't Venom's Theme but KNULL. The Eldritch God of Darkness.
@@Guyver89 Venom's Theme, not Knull. And as you said, Knull is an eldritch god, so it would be eldritch horror. Cosmic horror seeks to make you feel so insignificant compared to how big the cosmos is, so in these stories there doesn't necessarily have to be a creature, but rather something like a spot of indescribable colors falling from the sky. Eldritch horror on the other hand is more about the existence of something that go beyond human understanding. They are similar concepts but different at the same time. Hope I made myself understand, honestly Kraven's theme provokes that feeling of dread more than Venom's theme, but both are good in their styles.
I personally loved this version of Venom, can't wait for Carnage and i really hope this time he will really be bloody as he should be

@@deeznuts4216 my money says we'll see Carnage as the DLC story, they'll borrow from a few sources for the story, IIRC there have been in more recent issues a cult that worships carnage, which jives with the whole cult leader thing they're doing with Kassidy this time around, so that'll be the "thugs" in the DLC, and they'll proably also borrow from absolute carnage in that Carnage will assmble his sick "family" which will proably include Shreik and some others who else is a bit of a open question IMHO the classic roster of demo-goblin, doppleganger and carrion may not work. my guess is that as a result spider-man will also have to have a supporting cast, with will consist of miles, Wraith, proably Black Cat, a reformed Venom (Eddie Brock in this case likely as they've talked about wanting to maybe do a venom spin off and well Harry worked for spider-man 2 I think they'd need the 'OG' venom for a stand alone game) aaaand possiably towards the end.. @@briandavion(I don't blame him) Spider-Man prevented Yuri from killing one of the only Spider-Man villains that is pure evil with no redeeming qualities at all. So many are going to die.

To me, I get the Jurassic Park/Jurassic World vibe when a T-Rex or other Carnivorous (even hybrid) is chasing you.

Yeah, it’s very reminiscent of that.
This reminds me of a mix of Christopher Young and Ludwig Göransson's Venom cues.
In the case of the latter, you get those sci-fi sounding synths and menacing electronics.
The drums also fits from Göransson's style as well. In the case of the former, you get the horror style of brass, strings and choirs. I really like the vibes of Spider-Man 3 and Venom in this one.
One thing I just noticed about this theme is that it contains parts of peters black suit theme fire detail

No way they made Venom playable and teased Carnage to just one and done him. A Venom vs Carnage boss battle would be awesome, and given the fact that so many people are asking for more gives me hope that we'll see him again
i don't think they're completely done with venom tbh. From what it seemed, this version of venom was under control of knull (or the hivemind, to some degree). Harry isn't dead yet, so he could possibly still have some symbiote left in him. Honestly, its all up in the air, but i doubt insomniac would've made venom playable only to never do anything else with it afterwards

So far no Venom theme comes close to that of Spiderman 3, however this theme left me impressed and it is almost on par with Christopher Young's work (if Spiderman 3 set the bar high in something, it was the music)

They definitely did a great job with Venom here. It's a very nice change of pace from the very tiresome anti-hero gimmick they've been doing for decades now. While yes, is that like changing Spider-Man's sense of justice because it's tiresome? Well no.
You see, the reason there are so many Spider-Men is because we can get various different morals, and personalities personalized for every fan. It's this reason why making Venom similar to the Symbiote god Knull was an excellent idea not only because it's very different, and really shows you the raw negative energy the Symbiote provides. But it's a great excuse to have Venom be more so a very video gamey boss archetype.
Now does this have to be your favorite Venom? Of course not! But feeling slighted because the host isn't Eddie, and has the exact same personality as Eddie is really unfair, and caked absolutely in Personal Biases. What they wanted to do with Harry/Venom was to show how someone's ambition can lead towards self destruction. Harry's drive to heal the world passed down by his deceased mom not only makes him have purpose, but burdens him. But after the entire facility is destroyed, and because of his friend he's dying. Of course he feels hopeless, and slighted. Especially after it's destroyed he tries to find solitude with something to do positively in the world. So he contacts Miles who completely disregards him, and his struggles due to Miles being caught up in his very own issues.
It's this reason why Venom is born. Venom is born out of a shared hatred for the actions of Peter/Spider-Man. But what's important is that Harry, despite his anger, truly wants to succeed with his friends. However Venom twists this into something malicious and tries to turn Peter against Miles, as he feels Miles was nothing more than a roadblock towards his mother's goals. And this is why Venom forcefully turns MJ into scream.
Yes is the story. Yes. And could they have done with more scenes of Venom? All of us can definitely agree. But at the end of the day is this better than the first narratively? No. But this is a B tier Spider-Man story and is much more enjoyable than most. Hence why objectively besides audience reactions being positive across the board. I think yes Insomniac crafted a pretty cool iteration of Venom that many have longed for, or wanted something a bit different.

Though not as good as Kravens theme, this is better than any villain theme in the first game by far. Loved this version of Venom and excited to see what they will do with Carnage in the DLC or the 3rd game

I love this version of Venom with his voice, design and personality. I can't wait to see a DLC to play as Carnage. I hope they make his design very more bloody than the old games and have the perfect voice for him.
Does anyone know the haunting music that plays as you swing around the venom infested city? I have no idea what it's called, it's so good.
I've not been able to find it on a full listen to the album so far unfortunately. Give it time and I imagine people will rip it from the game.

Na Sony has a different Lethal Protector version of him which is pretty good too for those movies. This Venom is definitely the best version of Venom in all of MCU and games but I dont want every Venom to be like him . Lethal Protector Venom will have more screentime and be an anti hero . Tbh this adaptation of Venom wasn't really a bad character in general but it was a pretty shitty Venom. Venom has always had a relatively goofy personality even before his redemption arc in the comics, but in this game he only has one line that even sounds like something Venom would say and its "Thanks for coming Pete, we wanna show you something." everything else about him was literally just live action Riot done slightly better and with more lovecraftian horror elements.

They wanted to do something unique that we haven’t seen in the comics, so that’s why this version of Venom is so different. He works for the Insomniac universe, imo.

It almost seems like this venom is insomniacs Knull. And they clearly take plenty of inspiration from the King in Black event. I liked it, personally.

@@LeeXoniaTom Hardy’s is actually pretty comic accurate to how Venom was in the 90s: VERY goofy. Only inaccuracy is that the Symbiote is called Venom, not the bond between Eddie and Venom. Both the Symbiote and Eddie called themselves Venom when together because it felt like poison was coursing through their veins due to the hate they shared for Peter Parker.
I thought it was menacing but it definitely wasn't my Venom. I prefer Eddie, specifically when _he_ is in control and not just the symbiote brainwashing him

@@Gemidori I've not finished the game yet, but given that the devs have said they might do a Venom spin off game I imagine by the end of spider-man 2 Harry and the Symbiote acheive some.... balance. I've always felt the best interpretation of them is that neither is fully in control and they're literally a bonded pair where it's sometimes hard to tell where the man ends and the alien costume begins
