The entire "Wretched and Divine" album is awesome. I’m not a huge fan of BVB, but this album is definitely worth a listen.

Appreciate your perspective on the song. Just a few points to add context. The song and music video are Andy’s homage to the Broadway musical Sweeney Todd. If you know Andy’s background when it comes to that show is well known by the fans of this band. I have watched your previous reactions to BVB videos and you did not mention that you did not like the singer or his voice in either of those videos. Of course, it’s all subjective. Thank you for posting this.
I mentioned the Sweeney Todd broadway piece in my video! Which I thought was cool. Just wasn’t really into the song but I look forward to checking out more from them

Speaking as a BVB fan, I love this song and I think this is one of their best videos! I wasn’t familiar with Sweeney Todd prior to watching this, so that had no effect on my opinion. It’s pretty much a signature BVB thing to put “oh oh ohs” in most of their songs, so there’s really no way around that. 😄

Andy’s voice and the band itself is very polarizing. People love them or hate them. Andy has no problem with criticism as long as you’ve given them a chance. Some people dislike them without even listening because they don’t like their look or because of things they’ve heard from others. You might prefer some of their more mellow, ballad-like songs. I’d recommend Savior 2. I do like his unique voice, but understand some don’t. They’ve actually been criticized by the metal community for not being metal enough. They have a good mix of hard and soft. Their album Wretched and Divine has a good mix. I’m a fan, but perfectly okay if they are not for you, at least you gave them a listen. Some bands only have one or two songs I like, so I get it.
Btw, the song you liked, Lost it All, was from the album Wretched and Divine 🙂

6:06 That's what I thought. Just listen to the music, why not? I couldn't properly concentrate on the music when I watched the video. So, for me that's a factor. I like music videos though and appreciate this one for its artistry and high quality. Even think it's cool, even though I don't usually like gore.
Too bad, Andy's voice doesn't appeal to you (here, cause that's new?). Maybe you like it more in other songs, like you did in Lost it All. If the whoas aren't your thing, you're in trouble with BVB though 😅You should check out their first album We Stitch These Wounds then, cause it doesn't have those. I'd recommend classics like
- We Stitch These Wounds,
- Carolyn (better off Re-Stitch These Wounds) and
- The Mortician's Daughter (def Re-Stitch These Wounds).
For more vocal variety/quieter songs:
- Saviour / Savour II (I prefer the latter)
- Fall Eternal
For (rhythmically) cool arrangements you could go for:
- Ballad Of The Lonely Hearts
- Throw The First Stone
- God Bless You
p.s. Not a christian rock band. Andy, the lead singer, was just brought up catholic (while not being a believer himself) and carries much of that iconography into his art.

As I mentioned in a previous comment, it’s perfectly fine if you don’t like something. Music is subjective. I’m just confused about your dislike of the singer, because he sounds the same as he did in the 2 previous songs you reacted to, and you never mentioned a distaste for it then. Maybe it’s just this particular song or video that turned you off. Please check out other songs by them after this. I personally don’t hear a resemblance to James Hetfield or Jared Leto (except for the whoh ohs, which 30 STM started doing around their This is War album). Your feeling about the band may be changed by watching some interviews of Andy and his motivation for the songs. He’s a kind, funny, and down to earth person. I’m mainly just confused why you don’t like the singer now when you did before 🤷🏻♀️
I think overall the slow song just hit different. I’m sure they are great guys!! Also I didn’t mean he sounds like Jared Leto I meant the song sounds like a 30 seconds to mars song.
I’ll definitely check out more from them and see how I feel!

I do get the comparison to 30 STM with the chanting, gang vocals, and whoa oh’s; with BVB I think it’s the influence they had from 80’s bands that inspired them and it encourages the audience to sing along. I’m sure there are some other BVB songs that you’d like, though. This video was bloody specifically because of the Sweeney Todd reference. They have quite a few slower, softer songs too, like Lost it All, so I’m glad you’ll check out some more. BTW, the comment above by Chris is the lead singer’s dad. I met Andy, the band, and his parents and they are such great people, so you are correct that they are good people. I don’t have any hate for anyone who finds the band unappealing to them. Music is subjective and there’s something for everyone and everyone likes different things. I do have a special attachment to BVB because their songs helped my son through a tough time in his youth and their songs inspire others to feel okay about being different, not fitting in, and just being themselves. I’ve watched many of your videos of reactions to other bands and will continue to do so as I like your reactions.
