- Hello, friends!
I'm very excited to share in this video my experience with the two step (Henna & Indigo) process. Spoiler alert, IT WORKS! My grays got colored like never before. So in this method, you apply henna in the first step let it set in your hair for 3 to 4 hours then you wash it out and apply indigo on the second step and wash it out. I mixed little bit of henna in my second step because I want more of brown color if you like black just don't add henna to step 2.
What you need:
100% Pure Henna Powder: amzn.to/3ubD70F
100% Pure INDIGO POWDER: amzn.to/3wlw5sQ
100% Organic Aloe Vera Powder: amzn.to/3wlNCBp
100% Pure & Natural Hibiscus Powder: amzn.to/3ud1MSp
Organic Apple Cider: amzn.to/3N3dtUy
Disposable Gloves: amzn.to/3KVyT43
Disposable Shower Caps: amzn.to/3qge5fx
Co-Wash: amzn.to/3FT57fE
Step 1:
178 grams Henna
20 grams hibiscus powder
10 grams aloe vera powder
warm distilled water
Step 2:
I did 70% Indigo + 30% Henna
56 grams Indigo
24 grams Henna
If you want black hair do 100% Indigo for step 2 and don't mix any henna with it.

YAYYY! This is the first time I try the two step process and I was extremely impressed with the results. I really hope this works for you too because I know the 1 step method doesn’t work for everyone. ☀️🌿
I didn’t know that I can apply indigo with the hair wet and that is it for an hour. That is very good information. Thank you. love your videos.❤❤
Your video is very informative. You are so calm when you talk. Thanks for this video. I want to use henna and indigo and your way of using henna and indigo is the best.
Thank you so much, Zakia! Your comment made my day. I wish you a good luck on your henna journey. 🌿❤️
I don't like black colour so i will try this method soon becoz ur hair looks brown and shiny 👏👌
Thank you! I hope it works out for you too.
Since you mainly did indigo no your roots it made a red and brown/black ombre effect, pretty!
Hi rose my love The most beautiful camera in the universe is our eyes. Our eyes take pictures of their loved ones with the feelings of our hearts and download them to our hearts in our hearts, but only when I watch your loved ones my heart warms up.
Your hair is beautiful! I'm planning to come back to henna after 4 years of bleaching my dark hair blond. I love blondes but it took a toll on my hair. Right now I'm playing with cassia, will start adding henna and maybe will end up with color like yours.
For dye release please try to use Iron kadai or bowl.. it's a must thing!! And I keep it overnight for dye release. Henna actually turns black in colour in iron bowl after dye release... Please try once!!❤
Wr to buy that iron kadai
Yes i apply this and it's wonderful give nice hair colour.no orange tint of heena.thank you so much.love from india.💖💖👌👌👌🌹🌹🌷🌷
Wow, a great quality video! Once again!
Thank you!
Awesome video. I wasn’t feeling comfortable with leaving the indigo on my hair for 3-4 hrs. Good information. Ty
omg this is fantastic thank you for sharing beautiful 💕💕💕
Thank you so much Gina! I appreciate you being here ❤️❤️
What brand of co-wash did you use on your hair?
🎉 Thank you. I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS!!
What does the apple cider vinegar do?
You also mentioned for black hair only use indigo but then don’t only use indigo as it may turn green/blue
The acid in apple cider vinegar can help the color to bind to the hair better, that’s why people use coffee sometimes. Since Indigo powder is a blue dye, applying it directly to your hair will turn your hair blue or green. That’s why you need to prime your hair with Henna treatment before using indigo powder. So if you use henna in the first step you can then do a mix of 100% indigo in the second step. The first step can also be all henna or a mix of 50%henna 50% indigo.
@@RoseBaby I tried henna in the past where it did in fact turn my hair blue. I tried this method and it worked. Thank you so much for an informative video.
Hi Rose, thank you for the very informative video. Your hair looks amazing. What is the Hibiscus Powder used for?
I’m glad you liked it, Theresa 💖 The hibiscus powder has a lot of good benefits for your hair. It conditions the hair and reduces hair loss, promotes hair growth, gives your hair a gorgeous shine, and my favorite is that the hibiscus powder can delay premature graying. 👈🏻💫
Very pretty!!
thank you.. l will make my family try this
Thank you for stopping by! I appreciate your support!
Thank you.. for the great info I been trying to understand better. I get it now..
I will try it and let you know.
Please do. I would love to hear your experience.
Thank you so much for your informative videos! They’re extremely helpful! As someone who is completely new to henna and indigo and with black hair with grey mixed in , could you perhaps help to guide me as to an approximate ratio to treat only the grey areas and try for a black/ very dRk brown color? I would be so very grateful!
Hi Rose, my first time visiting your Channel and you are impressive. I did the two-step process and worked the first time but on my second henna treatment, the Indigo failed to cover the red henna, even after a second Indigo treatment. Do you have any advice?
What did you end up doing?
I endured the red hair for a few months and after viewing more videos I realized I wasn't using the indigo correctly. It needs to be applied within ten minutes after mixing. I was leaving the indigo rest for 3 hrs. and it was losing its potency by the time I applied it. It really takes some practice for you to get the right formula for you.
@@vickymendoza1910 Thank you!
hi @Rosebaby. I will use Henna tomorrow.
Can you tell me benefits of adding below to either my henna or my indigo mixture??
Cassia powder: provides golden tone to henna and a conditioner. Is this used in place of ACV, Aloe and Shikakai?
Amla powder reads online hair conditioner and curl booster. Would this replace Aloe Powder...? or can be used in addition to?
Shikakai powder: 1) hair cleanser 2) hair conditioner. Can this be used to clean hair before henna or as hair conditioner in place of amla and aloe??
I am doing ONLY my roots tomorrow and I have pretty thick hair. Can you tell me if below is sufficient?
Also it's been exactly 4 weeks since i used All Over Permanent hair box dye. Is it ok to use Henna now? or do i need to wait closer to 6 weeks?
I am trying to achieve a deep brown/chestnut color but I dont want my hair turning out black so I will do your 60 indigo/40 henna application--- THANK YOU
STEP 1:
100 Grams (same as 7 Tablespoons/TBS) of Henna
2 teaspoons of Aloe Powder
2 TBS Apple Cider Vinegar -- says online it: help henna bind to keratin, a protein that provides structural support to the hair's cuticle and cortex. Two to three teaspoons of ACV are enough to help deepen color and reduce redness in the dye.
Warm distilled water
How much cassia powder can I add?
Cover and let activate for few hours
Then apply to roots only in my case-- let sit for 3 hours
Cover with plastic wrap then a beanie to keep hair moist so you can prevent dryness of hair and also easier to wash out henna
Rinse with cool water; don't use shampoo and only condition mid to ends of hair (still waiting to receive my Henna Sooq co-wash in mail)
Then mix:
STEP 2:
100 Grams (same as 7 Tablespoons/TBS) of Indigo powder
2 tsp salt to help Indigo work better
2 teaspoons of Aloe Powder to keep my hair conditioned
Warm distilled water or should I use coffee? ( I don't want my hair super dark black, just want it to be a beautiful rich brown)
Cover and let activate for 15 min
Then apply to roots
Cover and keep hair moist (same as above)
let sit for 2 - 3 hours.. peak at grays and see if hair shaft is covered.
Rinse and don't use shampoo. Condition ends if hair feels dry otherwise wait 3 days before shampooing hair so henna/indigo bind to hair
Also I have sweet orange oil to help mask the smell; do you think it will interfere with the henna results? And if not, would I add the sweet orange oil to the henna or indigo mixture ..?
Love the color❤❤❤
Please could you tell me how much henna should I use fir short hair ?
How much indigo and henna together as part of second step ?
How long did you leave henna in as part of first step ?
I have a lot of grey
Look forward to your reply thanks
Henna also grows in Africa
So helpful, will definitely try this method! Quick question is it ok to add a leave in conditioner to your hair afterwards or is it best to wait 2-3days before applying?
I believe it’s okay because the leave on conditioner isn’t super powerful like the deep conditioning hair mask and also you are not going to rinse your hair after applying it so it should be fine.
@@RoseBaby Brilliant, thank you!
What was the product u used to wash ur hair after the 2nd step?
Your henna looks green like indigo? Mine looks light brown or yellowish orange.
Thank you very much for your information about Hannah and indigo. I really like to do the two steps to apply Hannah first, and then apply indigo. Please correct me if I’m wrong; after I applied and finished Hannah, then I would wait two days, then I apply indigo. is it the right way?
Hi nice video, i am planning to apply in two steps. Can you provide the spoon measurements for henna and indigo powder
Hi rose thanks a lot for this valuable information.kindly share hair pack for smooth hair, bcoz henna and indigo make my hair ruff and dry
I appreciate your feedback. Thank YOU!
Thank you! Lovely video! So for the first time 2 steps, but how about root touch ups once a month. Is it just the second step then?
I would think not, because you need that henna base for the indigo to cling to. The adding of henna in the 2nd step is more for diluting the indigo.
O have already coloured my hair 3 months now, of which I didn't like the colour it is Soo shouting I would like to apply henna to have exact colour as yours what do I need to darken the hair😢
Hello 👍
Can I use normal water?
Which brand of henna, indigo are you using..?
I want to try henna for the first time to cover my white roots and only very few strands of gray hair; I’m Hispanic and my hair is medium length naturally very dark brown almost black; should I do the two step process and leave the indigo longer like 30 minutes?or would it be also Ok to do the one step process with 40 percent henna and 60 percent indigo because I don’t like reddish tones on my hair; I have used chemical hair dyes that claim to be sort of natural but they are damaging my hair so I am very excited to switch to henna; thank you and your videos are beautiful and your vhair looks amazing!
Mix pure henna of 7-8 tbsp in an iron bowl. Add 1 tbsp gooseberry powder , 1 tbsp hibiscus powder, 1 tbsp Cassia powder and finally 1 tsp coffee powder. Add 6 tbsp of apple cider vinegar and 1 whole lemon juice to get dark red. Then mix cold water instead of hot water and mix in a batter consistency. Add a few drops of clove oil. Cover the iron bowl well for 12 hrs and then see, it would have released blackish red dye. Apply and keep it for 4 hours. Definitely ul get the impressive results. It will give deep reddish brown and not copper red. I have jet black hair and deep reddish brown go hand in hand n get a darker tone. Give it a shot if u like to.
Hi, Rose. Question? Do you only use co wash, when you wash your hair regularly? Do you use a color safe shampoo? Thanks
No, I use the co-wash only for the first wash after my henna treatment and I use a color safe shampoo after that every time I wash my hair.
Thank you for replying.
The indigo is green?
Yes, indigo powder is very green.
Yes, 1 step process is not suitable for me…. I did two steps and it worked perfectly
Is henna healthy for the hair? Some people have mentioned it clogs your hair follicles?
Never had that experience.
Why not mix all thogether?
Indigo caused me a Sever headache 🤕
What henna company do you use xxx
I buy it from Amazon, the brand is called The henna guys. I got links to everything I used in the description box if you would like to check it out.
Can i add aloe vera powder to indigo?
Yes, I do that sometimes.
How did you measure the henna and the powders?
I use a kitchen scale.
@@RoseBaby thank you!
So sweet ❤she is
What happens if I add amla to the henna part? Will it only hydrate it or change the color/process?
Adding amla powder to the henna definitely creates cooler tones, prevents fading, enhances dye uptake, and it also prevents relaxed curls/waves that could happen when you use henna.
The process still remains the same.
@@RoseBaby Ok thank you so much, great information!
What country?
I live in the USA.
Morocco
Can you add henna to wet freshly washed hair?
That’s the only way I do it
Rose,
I had a lot of henna left over , i did the exact 1st step. I covered my henna it's in the fridge , can i use some of that to add to the indigo on my second step?
Also, i didn't catch you did not co wash between the steps ,it was after the indigo. So, i rinsed my henna and xo washed yesterday and did not add anything else. Do i need to wash again or just dampen my hair and add the second step? Thanks for your help, i will be waiting your reply 😊
Hello Rachel, Yes, you can totally use it for the second step, and if your hair is clean you don’t need to wash it again. You can apply the second step on wet or dry clean hair whatever is easier for you. Good luck my friend.🌿☺️
How do you not get a severe cold???
Colds come from viruses, not wet hair-that’s a myth.
Hi Rose
For the first step how much henna should i use for shoulder length hair
And for the second step how much henna and indigo to use also for shoulder length hair.
(Measurement in tablespoons) please
Please reply because I need to color my hair this coming Wednesday.
Thank you

Donde consigo los ingredientes, la Hema el índigo
I got everything from Amazon. I have links to all the ingredients in the description box.
The hair in the cover photo looks really course like Asian hair.
Please help😢
Sorry looks like to much work but thank you...
Your adding any😅 of them but all of them not stick with hair and doesn't stay with hair.. Don't make foolish foolish
people .When we wash hair😢 all of them go with water. This need Amoniya Otherwise didn't stick with hair😮😂😂
Ammonia is necessary for natural stains. Henna and indigo ‘sticks’ to hair and skin.
The video with the beet roots didn't play out. I couldn't see it.
