I bought an Arran 10 for my son a couple of Christmas’s ago. It’s become the benchmark by which we judge almost every other unpeated whisky we try. Ardbeg 10 plays a similar role for peated whiskies. Yes, we’ve now tasted better whiskies than both, but they serve as brilliant points of reference.
Tis a lovely dram. Well priced for quality 10yr old. QTR Cask is superb. I've decided that I'm going to make a collection of the Arrans over this year.
I've been tasting whiskey for about two years, I can say that Arran 10 is a serious case. In the future I would like to try others from the series. I'm from Greece (trikala city) and I'm watching you with great joy.
Thank you so much Ralfy. I am a huge fan of Arran since the day i have been drinking whisky. And now of your channel. Huge quality and flavors indeed. Realy love your honesty. I always look for the better bottles and quality. Thanks.
Ralfy, I pick out coconut. Its my easy sipper with no guilt, due to price. I've had 5 bottles over 3 years and everyone has been excellent. Reminds me... I need another before it gets too popular.
Got the peated machrie moor fingals cut quarter cask When I visited arran late Decemberr also got the lochranza blend and sou wester blend and lagg new make that I use to lift lesser malts I'm given.
I’m new to single malts and I truly love the information that you provide us!! I’ll definitely be trying this one! I’m enjoying a bottle of Craigellachie 13 after watching that review, thanks again 🙏
I keep back either in 100 - 200ml bottles whiskies I like. I did it with the 10. Yesterday evening, I had some Arran Sherry Cask. I've had it open for a half year or so, and it is down below its shoulder. It the best that it has tasted. Fabulous.
Greetings Mr Ralfy and thank you for reviewing this again. I have mixed Arran sherry cask strength with entry-level Laphroig Select and sipping and watching this review.I am loving my new blending project, and thanks to you and your informative videos.
Just picked up one of these from Amazon on offer for £35. Wonderful stuff - puts me in mind of Tullibardine which also has a delicious slight sour note. Sláinte Ralfy 🥃
I can’t get Arran in my state but when I go one state over to pick up some stuff I can’t get here I always grab a bottle of this or any other bottle from them
Some folks seem to make whisky as a collectible commodity, whereas I get the feeling Arran makes whisky to drink and enjoy. (In other words - without pretention)
It's taken me a wee while to finally add the Arran 10 to my stash Ralfy, but the good lady of the house bought me a bottle for my birthday last October. Given the cold, wet and damp winter we've been having in these parts I've been having my malt moments a tad on the peaty side. Accordingly the Arran has taken a back seat waiting patiently for that first neck pour. Spring is hopefully round the corner, so it won't be long before I discover all those flavour notes you talk about 😃.
I ran and poured myself an Arran 10 when I noticed this come up. Fantastic whiskey! I’ve got a bottle of the Arran 10 cask strength as well. Dare I say it’s even better. All round probably my favourite.
The old (lavender tube) 14 yo is in my top 10 of all time. For my palate, the sensation balance and array of flavors is outstanding. AND it was an absolute bargain at the time. Thank you, Lochranza Distillery. I’m so glad to have stocked up on that version then with enough unopened bottles to last my lifetime. Cheers from New Mexico, USA.
Loved this review, love Arran 10, and I can't wait for the Extras when you compare batches. Also, the clean, uncluttered look really showcasing functionality as you move around bottles, tins, and glasses. Always improving, Ralfy. It's great to see! Sláinte!
After two years of searching random liquor stores in the States, I finally got my hands on a bottle today! Couldn't believe it. Glad quality hasn't changed in the time it took me to track it down.
Some comments about bad batch variation in ‘23… I had 3 bottles of Arran 10 last year and all were excellent. Maybe I just got lucky (or I was buying ‘22 stock?).
Arran has a long list of great offerings and I would encourage exploration beyond the 10. 10-year and Amarone are very respectable. Ranked in my upper tier are Bodega, (new version) port finish, 21-year and a Private Cask bottling. I've longingly glanced at, but not yet succumbed, to a 25-year bottling.
Bought one on strength of your review. Every bit as good as expected. Nothing -that I've tried yet- touches it at this price point. Awaiting another in the post today plus the less expensive Arran Barrel Reserve for comparison.🥃🥃
Arran 10 yo is indeed best value for money. Besides it’s a most enjoyable dram! It’s available in my hometown Riga for 36 Euros. It least it was before the New Year. I just bought 12 bottles. Its price can only go up!
you cant knock it..great whisky for about 40 quid, had a bottle just recently on a week away in dumfries and galloway...such a rounded easy drinking dram. have also picked up a bottle of the 10 year old machrie moor to see what they can do with peat!
Nice. Haven’t had this yet, but I have one on order that I’m expecting in a few days. I have the Sherry Cask, that I like, even though I can’t find any sherry in it 😉 Looking forward to the 10.
Thank you for the review. I love Arran whisky and distillery, particularly cask strength. However, for xmas I received the signature series - remnant renegade. Unfortunately I feel this goes against everything you’ve just said. An average non age statement at a high price - £70-80. Would love to see how would review this 👍
We are used to getting 750ml bottles here in the US but the new branding and 700ml bottle has hit our shelves and we are paying $8 more. I still have some old branded ones so someday I'll compare new to old.
This one has been gone from the Swedish market for atleast 12-18 months now, sorry to say. I had a bottle just after they did the rebranding, and when I wanted a new one, it was gone...and it's still gone. But on the other hand, I've tried some other Arran.....never been disappointed, always really great quality. At the moment I have The Bodega, Amarone cask finish and a special bottling for the Swedish market, a peated sherry one at 50%abv, commonly called "The crazy Swede"
I agree with you what Arran is concerned Ralfy. In fact I had my 1st "magical malt moment (hmm, nice and catchy )" with a 17 years old Arran called The Dark Lord in 2016, which is another classic. The 1st whisky from which I experienced the taste of rose petals! From my personal experience I can say that I never had a bad Arran, and yes, have this 10 years old in my closet as well, just as many other Arran's (including The Dark Lord). The strange thing is though that when I hear your tasting notes of an Arran they are completely different from what I always relate with Arran, for me Arran is mainly green fruit (green apple, grape, gooseberry, pear), maybe you eat too much Haggis before you taste???? Thumbs up from The Netherlands!!
One of my all-time favourite Single Malt Scotch whiskies. I had 4 bottles of this for 2023. Must place another order from the distillery soon. Ralfy, would you have a recommendation for another Arran whisky that I should give a try, and add to my order??
This was the first integrity bottle I purchased in around 2020, it really set me on a path away from the more generic brands, and I've just got a second bottle that I'm looking forward to cracking open at some point. I also enjoyed the Quarter Cask and Sherry Cask Arrans, keen to try a few more. Any thoughts on Machrie Moor vs Lagg?
Relatively experienced scotch drinker here. I purchased a bottle of Arran 10 about 6 months ago (summer 2023) and it was absolutely dreadful. I’m guessing it was a batch issue, but it was so bad that I don’t think I can spend my money on another bottle of Arran.
Ralfy...your whisky knowledge is without peer...you are virtually a university course on the subject. But sometimes I tune in to hear yuir Bonnie Scots burr...Gaun' Yersel' always, mate!
I love Arran scotch, but given the fact that the Arran 10 year is nearly $10 more expensive than the Glenfarclas 12 (at least in my local, store), I rarely buy the Arran 10. Now the Arran 18 year is another story:).
I have had a bad Arran malt, a NAS called Barrel Reserve at 43%. "American Oak, Natural Colour", but also lacking in flavor and best described as flat. Maybe just a bad bottle?
As others also wrote here, we need to talk about strong batch variations. There seem to be some 2023 batches, that are sharp, young and simply very unpleasant compared to the ragular great stuff.
I love my 2022 bottling of the Arran 10 and do believe it's the best entry level unpeated Scotch period. However, I had read worrying accounts of recent batches which were confirmed at my local pub: the 2023 Arran 10 I had is a different whisky, unbalanced, rather sharp spirit stuffed with new oak. It was unpleasant.
Thank you, finally someone noticed! Arran has a serious problem with batch variations, contrary to what Ralfy said in the beginning. I had a sample of the 2023 batch and I had to pour it down the drain, it was just horrible.
Hey Ralfy !! I dont get your e-mails with update reviews any more & I cant find out why??? I am still subscribing to your Patreon channel so Im a bit baffled!!! I am also a subscriber to You tube so need to know why I suddenly dont get your reviews any more!!!
Like all the Arran’s. Never let me down. Reasonable priced and great experience
and it's every time, believe me. meanwhile distell is fallen off in the core bottlings at the end of 2024 here.
Arran keeping it old school.
Quality always tells.
Thank you Ralfy🥃
Tis a lovely dram. Well priced for quality 10yr old. QTR Cask is superb.
I've decided that I'm going to make a collection of the Arrans over this year.
You are totally right. Arran is always delivering. I always have The Arran 10 in my stash. Wonderful whisky. Cheers from Germany
I've been tasting whiskey for about two years, I can say that Arran 10 is a serious case. In the future I would like to try others from the series. I'm from Greece (trikala city) and I'm watching you with great joy.
My favourite is the Arran 14... I have one unopenned bottle left. Thanks Ralfy.
Excellent vlogg Ralfy. Arron 10 never disappoints. For those who have never sampled this lovely dram you are in for an excellent whisky moment.
Thank you so much Ralfy. I am a huge fan of Arran since the day i have been drinking whisky. And now of your channel. Huge quality and flavors indeed. Realy love your honesty. I always look for the better bottles and quality. Thanks.

I always keep Arran stocked in my home bar. One of my go to favorites. Thanks Ralfy
I’m new to single malts and I truly love the information that you provide us!! I’ll definitely be trying this one! I’m enjoying a bottle of Craigellachie 13 after watching that review, thanks again 🙏
Good choice.
I wonderful dram. Fully agree. I've heard the 18 is very special. That's on my whisky wish list. 🤞🏽
Always on my shelf! I have three Arran bottlings actually and they are all excellent! Thanks dear Ralfy. Kindest regards, S.
I keep back either in 100 - 200ml bottles whiskies I like. I did it with the 10.
Yesterday evening, I had some Arran Sherry Cask. I've had it open for a half year or so, and it is down below its shoulder. It the best that it has tasted. Fabulous.
Had a bottle of this last winter and was stunned before it even touched my lips through the nose.
Fully understand your love for Arran. Let’s not forget devils punchbowl. Maybe not ‘classic Arran’ but a masterpiece in cask influence and selection

I just opened my second bottle. It is affordable, tasty, and offers such a great Scotch experience. Thanks for the great review 🍻
Well, it did take a while... I finally was able to find Arran. I only had to drive a hour for it. This is a very nice whisky! Thanks for recommending!
Some folks seem to make whisky as a collectible commodity, whereas I get the feeling Arran makes whisky to drink and enjoy. (In other words - without pretention)
Superb whisky for good value! Almost finished the 10, and now opened the Arran 18. Curious about the difference between them
It's taken me a wee while to finally add the Arran 10 to my stash Ralfy, but the good lady of the house bought me a bottle for my birthday last October. I love your passion when you find an exceptional whisky. Thank you for being such a knowledgeable guide in the world of whisky
I ran and poured myself an Arran 10 when I noticed this come up. Fantastic whiskey! I’ve got a bottle of the Arran 10 cask strength as well. Dare I say it’s even better. All round probably my favourite.
One of my favorites. A great distillery all around. I have fond memories of the 14 year old and am glad to hear they may be bringing it back.
Great review. Love Arran. Miss seeing Fanny and Bobby, though. Greetings from Minnesota, USA.
Arran 10 is indeed a great bottle! Love that it's getting the credit it deserves!
The old (lavender tube) 14 yo is in my top 10 of all time. For my palate, the sensation balance and array of flavors is outstanding. AND it was an absolute bargain at the time. I love the new jacket! Hello from Canada! 👍
I always enjoy when I get to sip along with one of your reviews. I look forward to 1010 extras.
Arran 10, love it!! Thanks for hooking us up Ralfy

My favourite whisky, especially the sherry cask one. High quality and pretty affordable. Atleast one Arran and an Ardbeg 10 and the cabinet is set!
Good morning
You’ve certainly sold this one to me what a fantastic review
Bought one on strength of your review. Every bit as good as expected. Nothing -that I've tried yet- touches it at this price point. Awaiting another in the post today plus the less expensive Arran Barrel Reserve for comparison.🥃🥃
Bought a bottle from the distillery after the guy there recommended that and your channel when I visited in 2021.. Been a fan of the channel since 👍
Arran 10 yo is indeed best value for money. Besides it’s a most enjoyable dram! It’s available in my hometown Riga for 36 Euros. It least it was before the New Year. I just bought 12 bottles. Its price can only go up!

Happy to hear the 14 is coming back too, been missing it

Ralfy, that is the best looking jacket/coat/jumper I've seen you wear.
Good Morning 😊 I dont drink alcohol but appreciate your content 👏🏼 Was sent over by Jonathan 👍🏼 Have a great day and Greetings from South Africa 🇿🇦
One of my all-time favourite Single Malt Scotch whiskies. I had 4 bottles of this for 2023. Must place another order from the distillery soon.
Ralfy, would you have a recommendation for another Arran whisky that I should give a try, and add to my order??
I love how arran 10 is for everyone. Never met anyone who didnt like it
Oops... Looks like you had a finger on the SHIFT key when you typed the number "1" in your heading.
Spot on review. Love the Arran 10.
would you be interested in reviewing arrans wood finishes, ralfy? I had some time ago the sauternes cask finish one and I was very impressed!
Really like the port finish but the whole range is pretty good and excellent value in today's market
Loved Arran 10 after my 1st bottle. Got 2 in the line 😅 I don't know if I like Arran bodega that much
Arran 10 is my favorite 10, and 25 I own, the value for money is simply unrivaled for the 10 year, better than lots of 15's and 18's in my opinion.
Got an opinion on the Cask Strength NAS from Arran?
I find their Robert Burns is a fantastic value. It’s damn near clear which lets me know I’m getting a light, lively whisky. No pretensions. 🇨🇦 🏴
Watching this sipping an Arran Quarter Cask, wonderful.
Relatively experienced scotch drinker here. I purchased a bottle of Arran 10 about 6 months ago (summer 2023) and it was absolutely dreadful. I’m guessing it was a batch issue, but it was so bad that I don’t think I can spend my money on another bottle of Arran.
You can get it here in Toronto for $67 Canadian .The sherry one is almost $90 and always out of stock
Ralfy...your whisky knowledge is without peer...you are virtually a university course on the subject. But sometimes I tune in to hear yuir Bonnie Scots burr...Gaun' Yersel' always, mate!
Raplfy, how is the rest of the Arran range, and any standouts?
Regards,
Chris
One of my favorites but the price has gone up from 55 CDN to over 80 now in Quebec in the last year. I am sad.
I gotta find a way to get this into Canada.
!0 yr old is good but that quarter cask is their best dram only in my view ;-)
Just out of interest Ralfy, in regards to last years bottle, did you do anything to it (ie inert gas) or did you just leave it in its natural state ?
Cannot go wrong with an Arran. The 17 year old is absolutely beautiful. Cheers.
Yeah the 17 is stunning , Im trying to get my hands on another bottle ,
@@edgewalker7459 Happy hunting
Noticed the !0 rather than 10 in the headline - great review though.
Love the stuff. Disapointed its only 700ml. feel like im being ripped on QTY. just make the dam bottle a regular 750ML People
Uhm, 700ML/70CL IS the standard bottling in Scotland.
I love Arran scotch, but given the fact that the Arran 10 year is nearly $10 more expensive than the Glenfarclas 12 (at least in my local, store), I rarely buy the Arran 10. Now the Arran 18 year is another story:).
My bottle went quicker than I'd like to admit. It became the default I'd reach for most often.
A good standby when perusing the shelves without inspiration, Deanston10 being my other standby.
They are releasing the 18 again this year and I for one cannot wait! Possibly the best whisky I have ever tasted. Work of art.
It’s been on my bucket list to try. The best 18 year old whiskey I have tried is the Talisker 18 and Yamazaki 18.
@@Bestself2015 trust me, the Arran 18 is on a whole new level. Enjoy when you find it
I have had a bad Arran malt, a NAS called Barrel Reserve at 43%. "American Oak, Natural Colour", but also lacking in flavor and best described as flat. Maybe just a bad bottle?
Any idea if they are still producing the Arran Amarone?
. . . not at the moment.
Maybe not complex, but really tasty. Arran is one of my favourite easy-drinking whisky.
P.s. Ralfy! My name is Patrick from Melbourne Australia!!!
As others also wrote here, we need to talk about strong batch variations. There seem to be some 2023 batches, that are sharp, young and simply very unpleasant compared to the ragular great stuff.
I can confirm this. Just a glass right next to me an it's sharp, flat and no fruit. Tasted the 2020/21/22 Batch which all where lovely.
F yeah I love Bladnoch
@2:32 - Oh, Ralf dear! They were at exactly the same level, you should have restrained yourself! 🤔🤣🤣
It’s like a unicorn 🦄, I haven’t seen it on the shelves.

Its been over ten years of watching your

You a bottle of single malt from balcones have you tried the sherry cask?
Thanks Ralfy
Arran 10 along with Springbank 10 and Hazelburn 10 prove that you don’t have to spend a fortune to get an excellent tasty Whisky
"Arran !0yo" is what is listed in the title. Just thought you should know!
😁🙌🏻
Every Tingle Time
''Arran !0yo'' ?
Had a wee dram too many Ralfy ? 😂
Found it rather young last year
