"Stairway to Heaven" is a song by the English rock band Led Zeppelin, released in late 1971. It was composed by guitarist Jimmy Page and vocalist Robert Plant for the band's untitled fourth studio album (often called Led Zeppelin IV). It is often referred to as one of the greatest rock songs of all time.
The song has three sections, each one progressively increasing in tempo and volume. The song begins in a slow tempo with acoustic instruments (guitar and recorders) before introducing electric instruments. The final section is an uptempo hard rock arrangement highlighted by Page's intricate guitar solo accompanying Plant's vocals that end with the plaintive a cappella line: "And she's buying a stairway to heaven."
"Stairway to Heaven" was voted number three in 2000 by VH1 on its list of the 100 Greatest Rock Songs, and was placed at number 31 on "Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Songs of All Time". It was the most requested song on FM radio stations in the United States in the 1970s, despite never having been commercially released as a single there. In November 2007, through download sales promoting Led Zeppelin's Mothership release, "Stairway to Heaven" hit number 37 on the UK Singles Chart.

Second best version of Stairway to Heaven I have heard. I was lucky enough to see them in 1973 at the Forum in Los Angeles.

I discovered this recording about 2 years ago. It is the gold standard by which I compare all other covers -- of any song by any vocalist. I don't think a cover can be done any better than this.

Girl in a Led Zeppelin tee, yep i'm in. The 60's and 70's music was before my time, but I'm all in on for that era. Have many tees of that era of music, which past girl friends smirked at, hence "past" And will die with the dreams of those epic 60's and 70's arena/stadium filling bands such as the Mighty Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and the Stones, that would have been a great time to be alive. But thanks to ones like Alyona who are bringing back those wonderful musically notes, so us younger people can feel the joy and grandness of the bands of yester years. Thanks Alyona
Wow. Thanks. That’s the best Led Zeppelin cover of stairway to heaven I have ever seen. I saw them in concert in Seattle 07-17-1977 I was 17 and turning 60 this month. Still my favorite band of all time.

I have listened to a lot of her songs. She has an amazing voice. I don't get how she gets thumbs down especially on this cover. She does Zeppelin as well, if not better, than anyone I have ever heard sing Zeppelin.

As much as I love this song, sometimes I get sick of it because it's played so much on classic rock stations in the US. Aly, you've managed to give us a new take on this song that is fresh and invigorating. Also, I am in awe of how long you can hold that note at the end of the "to be a rock and not to roll" line. You have got some serious vocal chops!
