35 years was worth the wait! One tiny niggle, I thought the audio was a bit quiet when it started the classic dialogue "Reactors online. Sensors online..." That needed to be clearer and louder because that is the killer moment.
@@WatchTMC I think the music drowned out a lot of the dialogue. If a) the volume on the dialogue can be turned up a bit or b) volume on the music can be turned down a bit at this moment then I think it will be perfect. When some people don't even notice the dialogue then something isn't quite right. Still this is incredible work. Well done and really looking forward to seeing more :)
I'm going to tear that they were in the middle of a hot Drop so yeah wasn't really a mad at that I actually thought that was normal I could hear it and it was loud and I expected things to go crazy so yeah I didn't really have a problem with that you guys keep doing what you're doing cuz I totally could have believed that sound could have been muffled out by the sounds of the engines and stuff in the drop

Ah brings me back to the good old days of when BATTLETECH started and the term MECHWARRIOR was born. I still have my old pen and paper game on the shelf and my old mech favorite the Warhammer. Damn, now I feel old lol. My old friends and I had a pretty good combat lance: Warhammer, Marauder, Rifleman, Shadowhawk. Hope this gets to be a series of mini-series. This old Mechwarrior would love to see that.

None of them are appropriate for youtube. You can imagine the feeling of a sports fan when his team scores after losing after desperately losing the game for a long time, you can imagine the irrational behavior of such a fan, sound, motion, attitude, wording, hitting things to make noise, animal dopamine behavior. But it is not sports. It is Mechwarrior 2 and Battletech tabletop gaming brought to life with big screen quality. If you ever do that to me... geez... I will have to thank you forever. My admiration for the finest work I have ever seen lately.
@@phelanwolf6747 He meant "Astartes" as in the _fan animation named Astartes by Syama Pedersen,_ not what you call actual space marines in 40k. He's comparing the huge quality of this fan animation to the one in Pedersen's Astartes animation.
Playing Mechwarrior 3 right now (currently going through Pirate's Moon) and after giving this a rewatch, the characters reminds me of the the lance you control in MW3. I guess it shouldn't come as a surprise since the beginning of this pilot is clearly inspired by the MW3 intro.

Pretty good. The mechs dropping onto then planet absorbing the shock with their knees was cool to see. The vectoring of the dropship’s thrust was cool. I would have liked to have seen the drop ship burning through the atmosphere a bit more, perhaps with a cut away showing it streaking across a dark early morning sky before dropping the mechs further along in daylight. Good work. Keep it up.

Such professional work humbles the arts I made for "Battletech Fan" youtube channel, a visual guide for newcomers. To my defense I can say I used software that is more than 20 years old, and it was cheap back then. So that did not give me too many options, and also it did not allow a very profesional finishing. But the good thing about these oldie apps is that you can do the job at hand quickly and easily.
Was my intro to the setting too, gave me major nostalgia feels when I saw it. That and the audio for Mech power up ("reactor online, sensors online, weapons online, all systems nominal") is the EXACT one from the game.

WoW should not have been made into a movie. Warcraft should have, but they should have left WoW at home and locked it in the cellar. With a starving gorilla. THIS however, looks phenomenal, and a modern BattleTech show is LONG overdue.

Now for the reality check if you'll humour me a little. How long did it take your team to make this 2 minutes 13 seconds of footage and what would be possible if you scaled your team and by how much would you like to scale the team, if at all? What kind of funding and timeframe do you think you'd need to make a season of 25-30 minutes episodes? And have you been in touch with the holders of the rights? Because this is really some quality work.
Hello! First of all, thank you very much for your comment. This episode took about ~4 months for 1 minute of actual animation. Episode 1 has been in the works since sept-oct, meaning it will take about 5-6 months until we can release it. We're working on this with 2-3 people and only in our free time. Many of our team members are parents and we all have time consuming jobs, so that slows it down. For a 25-30 minute episode we would probably need at least 2 more animators, a new modeler, an FX guy and someone experienced with blender environment art. A 6-8 month timeframe would probably be appropriate then, but only if we can work on this full time. Since this is a purely non-commercial fan project, I cannot talk about any funding, because there simply is none :) So this will, sadly, remain a dream.

Alas, partial investment is the best I could offer. If you were on the road to making a full series happen. AND "all systems nominal" was cut off, and the entire audio of the checklist felt accelerated by 17%
