- We adopted a rabbit! Here we give the adopted rabbit a gift! It's the rabbit's first gift - a sandbox! (Or, more accurately, a dirt box!) We really hoped he would like his first present and maybe, just maybe, stop hating us. The rabbit is scared of the present at first, but seems to warm up to exploring the sand box. The bunny rabbit seems to like playing in the dirt at times, but not as much as he likes eating treats. Adopted Rabbit is still a skittish rabbit / scared rabbit, but we remain undeterred, and will redouble our efforts to win his love!
We love the little adopted rabbit, but so far, the adopted rabbit hates us. We thought we were good at rabbit petting, rabbit feeding, and rabbit holding, and most other rabbit care activities, but we have now realized that we are actually not that good with rabbits, we were just good with Pipkin rabbit. To be blunt, after adopting this new rabbit, we realize we have no special rabbit skills, but we will do our best, and endeavor to get Adopted Rabbit to love us as much as we love him! Maybe one day we can even make a rabbit learns he is adopted video.
This is rabbit's first time receiving a gift / receiving a present. At first he was a bit of a scared rabbit, but he likes eating treats (maybe he'll do a rabbit ASMR video one day!) and that helped overcome his fear long enough to get in the sand box.
We are still trying to get the rabbit to like us - bribing him with food and coaxing him with food. You would think the bunny would run out when coaxed with food, but he is still a scared rabbit. Maybe one day he will like making rabbit eating videos, or rabbit ASMR videos, or rabbit tries foods for the first time videos, or waking a sleeping rabbit by surrounding him videos, or a rabbit learns he is adopted video, but that day is not today :) However, the adopted rabbit is slowly warming up to us. He is sometimes a skittish rabbit and sometimes a mad rabbit / angry rabbit, but he does really like being a free roam rabbit / free range rabbit. He does rabbit binkies and rabbit 500s / bunny 500 (rabbit running like crazy around the house).

It's called a Dutchie or in my language an 'Hollandertje.' They're known to be from England, but originated in Belgium and the Netherlands.
Not sure what name the English give to them. But if you google 'Hollandertje konijn zwart' you'll get pictures of a black Dutchie, like this one.

@@MsMtheory Pipkin passed away. The owners adopted from a shelter a rabbit who is the spitting image of Pipkin. It's wonderful to see this rabbit who had been traumatized slowly respond to the love and attention of his new parents.

Your bunny must have hey available to him 24 hours a day or he will die. Rabbits sleep a little than eat a little. Sleep mostly during the day. Active at night when predictors are sleep. They have to have food on their stomach at all times. His diet is 80 percent hey,. 10 percent leafy veggies (hand full) and 10 percent pellets. Used to encourage them to eat hey. The hey also will help file teeth. The teeth continue to grow. They will chew on wood to file teeth. He must have water. Dog bowl that won't turn over is good. Your rabbit had no food all night. I rescued rabbit on my medical route mountains. I looked at the bunny lady, lennon the bunny and bunny 101 to learn as much as possible. I talked with rabbit owner at pet store who sold me Timothy hey and adult rabbit pellets and explained to me how much important it is to keep fresh hey and water available at all times. I'm so glad I have my bunny. By the way she loves digging the in potting soil and uses it as her place to go per and poop. It saves a lot of time.
@@bijounicholas9284 I'm quite certain this bunny's parents know all the bunny basics and it's good you spread the word yourself, now. Yes it's true they need hay available at all times 24 hours a day as much as they can eat. If you ever have troubles with your money or they get sick I would encourage you to call here local chapter of the" house rabbit society." They have people there who have dedicated their whole lives to saving rabbits and in an emergency they're going to know a lot more than your "bunny lady" Lorelei who is Lennons Mom. Unexpected emergencies can occur so if what happens and you don't have a good rabbit vet who specifically understands rabbits, they are the best place to call. I have their number on my phone just in case.

The adopted rabbit is quickly becoming a favorite of all Pipkin lovers. I always think of Pipkin when I laugh at the curiosity and trust of the adopted rabbit. I love how excited bunnies get for food. They act like they have not eaten in days. It is so precious.
I had one that wouldn't even wait for me to finish pouring her food in her bowl, she'd stick her face in right away and end up getting food on her head
My 2 bunnies are nocturnal lil creatures. They lie in wait, sitting on the bed just waiting for me to wake in the mornings. As soon as I stir, they start doing binkies and zooms in anticipation of treats. My Holland lop nearly attacks me, running over to jump on my lap, frantically trying to help me open the treat bag. Puts a smile on my face! Except for the mornings I'd like to sleep in, and they nibble / bite my toes to wake me! 😃😆 If I've fallen asleep wearing my reading glasses, my Rex loves to yank them off my face. Thank goodness for Dollar Tree glasses.

Yes, I really can see, that the rabbit is warming up with you! He gets more and more familiar with you. Give him time. Spend a lot of time together with him. Sit down together with him on the floor how you do it in the video. Talk to him, he cannot understnad, but he feels, how you think and react. Give him food with your hand. Let him be curious.
One thing about rabbits, they love being held. (They don't like being picked up and then put down. Hold him on your lap for as long as he wants, then let him down when HE wants to go.) Also, my rabbits LOVED to lie on their backs on my lap. It seemed to calm them down, they almost fell asleep like that.

However it is never ok for us to place a rabbit on their back, as doing so is called "trancing" your rabbit aka tonic immobility. It is believed that rabbits are able to play dead and go into a state of tonic immobility as a last resort defense mechanism... Despite the relaxed appearance, it's a body position that puts rabbits under extreme stress and in extreme cases even heart attacks that lead to a rabbits death. In conclusion, please refrain from putting your bunny on its back everybody! Its only ok if bunny is choosing to lay in this position. 🙂
Yes, mine loved lying like that for a little while, but I always let them get back up when they wanted to. They were never on their backs for very long. Made it easy to clip their toenails, though!

Well he is getting more confident. The binkies, the 500s, the pleasure in eating, and the private play in the dirt box when you were not there are all signs he is happy! Please give him some more rabbit toys and a big box or rabbit house to hide in and claim as his own private place, even when they love you rabbits enjoy privacy too!
Yes! I had a rabbit that could move freely through the house, but she had some spaces of her own she knew were for her and I would not disturb her there.

Looks like Adopted Rabbit’s security spot is behind or under that glider rocker. But I like that he is very curious about everything you do. That’s a good sign. I’m still sad about Pipkin, but I hope you guys keep making videos. It’s going to be wonderful to see Adopted Rabbit blossom.

It was a Lucy and Ethel moment being cooked up. When you opened the door the next morning I expected much worse so Adopted Rabbit needs to ratchet up his destructive skills. But since he's still on the young and small size he's got time. I got a good chuckle, that's for sure.

This is really wholesome! He seems to be slowly coming round. He's a shy bun, but all of this is still so new to him and I hope bit by bit that he'll continue to come out of his shell and be able to feel more comfortable around you. I can tell you both are very caring hoomins.

Hey I am so glad you’re willing to work with this rabbit as they are, both our buns are quite shy and it took one about 9months to accept stokes, and the other still needs space. All rabbits are different 💚💚💚
