Okay, for maximum XP gain, hold your gun out. For every second you hold your gun, is 1.4x XP, so every 5 seconds is 7 XP. I've gotten 1700 XP from holding it alone.
You get more xp for masteries if you just hold it compared to damage, usually resulting in 100-300xp for dmg and 300xp for holding (if you make it to end game).
I’d like to point out that your weapon XP IS dependent on the game mode. I don’t know if this is a bug or not but I saw WAY better xp gain in BR than I did in control. This isn’t my skill either, in control I would drop over 3k damage using mainly one gun. However in battle royale even if I only got only one kill and low damage it would still be better XP gain than my higher performance in control
Question.... what about the challenges? The Eva 8 you have to hold down the trigger on a fresh combatant until they drop and the moz you have to pick it up and down someone in 15 seconds. How does this apply???
Also I think it's good to mention that in the game modes team deathmatch and control ALOT and I mean ALOT of care packages will spawn and rarely anyone uses the weapons in the care packages (i.e. the bow, kraber, etc.)

Bro, I have a solid idea for making weapon mastery worth it. Your reward for level 100 is a "pay-to-win" (now play-to-win) skin. They can recolor them so that they're exclusive and don't step on the BP skins. Think Heat Sink Flatline, Zero Point R9, Hot Streak Devo, Superstar PK, LED Rez Alternator, etc, but with a color scheme you can only get through Mastery. The reward would be worth it, but it wouldn't be game-breaking bc A) most of these skins are already prevalent, and B) any optic is still better than irons.
Would definitely make the grind more worth it, especially since you can only equip one banner frame at a time so getting multiple weapons to mastery doesn’t benefit you much
Down 20 enemies while they are airborne, if you play control and run around with the r99 you will get it organically. if you want to speed up the process play octane and place jump pads all over the place

I get bragging rights but to be honest to put that many hours into all those guns. Those rewards are not worth it, not any one of them. Maybe that cool banner at the end but that's still not worth it

That’s crazy, it seems like sitting afk in a corner with your gun out or doing poke damage from far away makes it easier to level up the weapons

what about your kills? damage give very little xp compared to kills.

I got it organically by playing a lot of control and pubs, you could also speed up the process by placing octane pads everywhere

both are great legends, I recommend switching between the 2 often so you don't get bored also try bangalore, you might like her double time

Level 40 you get the weapon kills tracker and either 60 or 80 you get the damage tracker
