We always used to have bulgur wheat, the fine one which is a lot like cous cous not the coarse one in supermarkets, with our BBQ kebab Sundays when I was a kid :) Will have to ask but I think my Mum put diced onion/toms/cu in it with either chopped parsley or mint as a sort of salad.....was a real pain to get my parents to make chips before oven chips were a thing when I was a kid lol
Yum!! I love how you have many happy memories of food and your family 🙌 cous cous is so good as you can add so much flavour to it as it can be quite bland at times.
@@misselz2272 If you cook the fine stuff in water like rice you get something a bit like mashed potato too. Something similar to quinoa but it costs a lot more is supermarket coarse bulgur wheat which turns out like rice....that's really nice with some chopped onion and chopped cherry tomatoes fried up in a bit of olive oil in the pot before adding it and the water (works great with rice too). The Cyprus village diet of the childhood of my parents, and therefore my childhood as I had no choice, is actually quite flavourful if you are cutting down on meat in your diet :) Well the spring in the plumbing seems to have sorted itself out so hopefully soon I can finish my kitchen and I might make a couple of cooking vids too (mostly so I don't forget how I made them like perfect Lahmacun dough and toppings I used to make in my old house)
Brilliant vids El... Keep them coming x
