Hand tied bouquet with marigold from my garden

- From my Swedish garden in August. There’s one color that I haven’t been very impressed with in the garden so far. Orange. I even stopped growing marigolds, since they’re all orange or yellow. I just didn’t think that it fit my garden. But now I am about to change my mind. This is my first bouquet with marigold.

Sara, I love this bouquet! My birth flowers are marigolds and cosmos. I've never loved marigolds, but seeing these made me feel much better about them. I'll have to grow a few myself this year. Love them with the dark pink cosmos. Beautiful.

The cosmos reminds me of home in South Africa.
Since childhood we used to go on holiday in Kwazulu Natal, in April.
When we were a few kilometres out of Johannesburg, there were kilometers of cosmos growing wild next to the road, so very beautiful.
Living in the UK now I have tried cosmos and I think earwigs got hold of them.
Have made a new no dig bed for cosmos and hope the pests stay away.
I think I over watered them, because where they grow in SA it is quite dry.

What a lovely story Anita! Yes, if cosmos thrives really good they produce a huge amount of foliage, instead of flowers. And pests are a problem here too. The last two summers we've had lots and lots of earwigs. Don't like them!

You could try white colored marygold „arctic“ or maybe „strawberry blonde“ it has a pinkish undertone

Summer is here and the flowers are coming too, it's so light! Can you tell me if your cosmos are "chocolate cosmos" or just purples? Wow, that is a gorgeous bouquet! Thanks for sharing. One time I planted marigolds to deter pests and something(I think earwigs) ate them down to sticks! The pests weren’t deterred, but I guess the marigolds did help in that way.

😄slugs! Another tip: broken eggshells really do protect my hosta. Love the bouquet! Cream colored marigolds?
Thank you! I actually grow that much vegetable so it's not possible to protect them with eggshells =) I can't remember the name of the variety, unfortunately.
