  • The Tree Thrasher deer call is meant to add more realism to your grunt calls. It could be just what you need to entice that wary buck in to bow range. But do you really need it? How realistic are the sounds? In this video we go over the tree thrasher deer call and compare it to the real sounds it's supposed to mimic. I will be adding this call to my calling tactics this fall so I'll report back if I think it helps.

Value of this call is subject to specific hunting environments imo. Those sounds validate conventional deer calls. For many years, I've been looking for a way to create these sounds hanging from a saddle. Around here (aside from having a rutting buck dumbed down and confused) deer calling seldom brings deer in close enough without some background noise like a brook etc..... I think this is going to work. (Especially the deer walking sounds & antlers rubbing beechnut trees!)
Have one coming Tuesday. I'll be back with the results in a few weeks!

Thank you. I thought I might have been too harsh but it seems not.

When I was gust getting started learning how to dear hunt (60years) ago I was told a lot of things and they all worked at some point but not all the time but the best way to kill dear consistently is pay attention to the wind and put in the time where you have a lot of dear sign

Most important factor for consistent success. Wind.

A very fair evaluation, and I agree 100% with your comments. I'm new to your channel and hunt mature whitetail in SWWI. I personally would not buy this call. Thanks, Bob

This will be my first late season hunting with a Muzzleloader.
Will a grunt call work then ? Also my first season with a grunt call, but I’ll be using it in the rut.
    Thanks man !

I’m 65 and have hunted Mule Deer most of my life. Started when I was 6 with my dad. 7 years ago I bought a small (92 acres) farm and started hunting whitetail. I’ve killed 4 bucks and 6 does. With bow and rifle. I’m trying a grunt to switch things around on a buck I’ve been after the last 3 years. I know stuff about the wind I learned from open country mulies. Whitetails are easy to me, no disrespect to anyone. I hunt a bottom pasture on my land that nobody besides me and my Lab ever go down there. Maybe 3 times a year to check a mineral block and fish in a pond 1 pasture over. I keep seeing this guy in mid day, on the edges, and very late, end of shooting light. I’m going to try to draw him out. I hunt from a year round ground blind.
      Thanks for the responses.

Something else to carry that you don't need. Less is more in most cases. The less noise you make the better your chance to actually see deer.

Another gimmick to make call companies money 💰 just like that crunh making thing thats supposed to sound like deer eating acorns 😂 if a deer was that close you would see it. Stick to basic woodsmanship, hunt the wind and be still. I use grunts very sparingly because there's not anything made that sounds like a real deer. Good luck to all 😊
