    Thank you. I just picked up and FX6 at Petsmart for $270. They had all Fluval filters on sale.
    Can’t wait to not have to clean my turtle’s tank every month!

    If you're like me and want the most "hands off" turtle enviorment care then this filter is for you. When you pay cheap for a filter, you are going to do more work. This filter I only have to clean every 3 to 6 months.

      Hi I have a red eared slider for the past 18 years now and the FX6 has been out go to. I'm recently upgrading her to a 150 gallon tank with more tank mates since she doesn't eat fish weird, I know. I also added an additional 2 FX 6 so 3 total. What media would you suggest for all 3 to keep the water clear and clean for her and the fish. Which included tiger barbs,clown loach a pleco 2 fire mouth Cichlids and a few large gold fish.

      @@slouisp I have had great experience with BIOHOME brand bio media. They have all different types that work really great.
      I personally only fill the middle tray with BIOHOME and has been keeping my cycle wonderfully. I know of other keepers who use more but I feel it cuts down on my output flow, but thats me.

    I have just ordered one... have two elderly RES in a large 2'x4.75'x18' tank, separated (females) and have been slogging along with 2 old RENA filstarts... so made the big expenditure. Also love that the piping is black, not clear, so "algae proof". Can't wait for the delivery. also getting a filter with the anti algae uv light.
    thank you! Learned so much in this video... have had RES for 25 years...

    I was always worried about noise levels of the fx range and so steered away from spending so much on a mistake. But picked up second hand ,practically new fx6 and fx4 for £140, roughly 160 Dollars for both filters .Need not have worried ,just an inaudible hum when up close and near silence when cabinet doors are closed,excellent filters .They are both on a 125 heavily stocked south American tank ,and my water is crystal clear again 15min after feeding ,and very low constant water parameters. So for im over the moon with them.i have used several filters over the past 25 years ,and i have to say the two i bought certainly live up to the HYPE. Thanks for posting your video's and great content. All the best. Cheers .new subscriber.

    I knew the fx6 was a good filter period, but it’s awesome to see a video for it with turtles. I just installed one on my 125gal with two pink bellied side necks. I have the fx4 on my 75gal with 4 red eared sliders and 1 eastern painted. All yearlings so they do have enough room for now. But that tank stays perfectly clear

    I watched one of your videos that I now can't find but it was when you had to move Moses out. You opened the door to your stand and showed your filter. I noticed beside the filter was an electrical outlet strip. I felt concerned that if should your filter leak at any point the water would hit that strip.
    Just because I didn't want to see anyone hurt, including the turtles I'm pointing this out to you so no harm comes to anyone. The electrical cords should have a loop so water will drip off at the loop point and not travel to the outlets.
    A great way to achieve this is to buy the 50 lb weight Velcro strips with adhesive back and attach it to the SIDE of your stand. This way when you plug in your cords, the loop falls below the strip and will drip on the floor or rug instead of in the outlets.
    Cuz I care.
    Great videos!!

    Use a eheim prefilter. Stick oase orange biomaster foams in it. Then wrap coarse black foam around it to hide it and catch any bigger dirt. This way you can keep inside of fx6 clean for longer and just pop off prefilter and clean out once a week

With it as high as you have it does it get all of the stuff at the bottom? Also, how does your turtle not eat the fish?

    • @LongLiveYourTurtle
      @LongLiveYourTurtle  Рік тому +1

      Hello! It is typical to have the output nozzle at the top. The water is dispersed out and around the tank with the goal of eliminating areas of stagnant water. Which is why it is typical to have the intake on one side and the output on the other or as close as you can to this. For turtles they typically kick around stuff enough to keep the bottom clean but you will always have to clean up eventually as waste will build up. Hope that helps!

    I am having issues with my canister being loud and blowing small bubbles occasionally. Just set it up.
    I do have the water down a few inches, in order to have room for the turtles to exit the water. Fluval says that water must be filled to the top, there must be air being sucked through the rubber to hose connector on the top of the intake or outtake. Any ideas? Without changing my water level.

    • @LongLiveYourTurtle
      @LongLiveYourTurtle  2 роки тому

      I get the loudness once in a while if I filled the canister up incorrectly before starting it up. I believe its because it is not priming fully and purging all of the air. Try filling up the canister a little less before starting it up. Or a little more? My take a few tries. Good luck!

      This is more than you would need but you can slow the flow if you need to. I would grab an FX4 if you dont plan to upgrade for a while!

      Right now one tank has gold fish and convict cichlids. Another has buenos aires tetras, pearl danios and convict cichlids. All great turtle tank companions if they learn to steer clear of the turtle. Check out this video: ua-cam.com/video/khi4Qy8_GaE/v-deo.html

    The Fluval FX6 changed my life. I lost hope during the dark times, the horrid 06 series!
    Our FX6 filters has no issues keeping our outdoor stock tank crystal clear. I love the variety of biomedia, sponges, and carbon bags you can place in for a custom project.

    I have 5 big water-Turtles. I bought a 120gallon Cattle water/stock tub.. will this model of filter be sufficient for this Tub ?

    • @LongLiveYourTurtle
      @LongLiveYourTurtle  Рік тому +1

      That’s a heavy bio load so I’d suggest 2! Also I’d try elevating your tub as the filters are designed to work more efficiently below tanks. They will still work next to it though. Good luck!

    This Polar Aurora seems to have more space for the media
    FX is wasting so much space for all those useless trays in the middle
    Why not just cut all those trays in the middle and make one big space for the huge bag of bio
    It would fit 16 lb of Matrix
    That’s what I did

    How to get discount: Abuse the system, use discounts that no longer exist (which can't be legally combined), & trick an employee to break the rules for you.
    Glad I waited 23 mins for that 😓

    Hmm, I've got a 150 gallon for my mississippi map turtle. She's about 1.5 inches. 75 gallons for an adult Red Eared Slider seems extremely small in my opinion. Hopefully you're planning to upgrade very soon.

      I hear you. However, the majority of turtle owner complaints I have seen are about “dirty” water and this filter takes out all of the filter type and size guessing and can save tons of maintenance time. I’m a very strong proponent of bigger is better when it comes to turtles and that includes the filter. Thanks for the comment!

      @@LongLiveYourTurtle one of the things we have always done is have bamboo in our turtle tanks which helps with water purification too…..and cuts way down on filtration needs and maintenance time🎋🎋👍👍

    These filters are junk. The design is great and all, but you WILL have to replace the motor many times, and at 160$ a pop you will quickly wish you had spent the extra time and money at the original setup and gone with a sump.
