    Fairly basic stuff for "yard people" but it was all presented excellently! I was actually unaware of the hearing hazard of the "sustained noise". Just proves to me that when you think you know, you still have room to learn something. Thank you so much for the video!

      Thanks +Jason Brown :)
      I think the issue is that blowers are becoming ore accessible so a lot of people with little power tool experience are using them.
      The hearing one is a biggie.
      People fire them up & think 'oh, that's not too loud.' and use them without protection but it's that sustained noise that can do harm. If you do something (like using power equipment) and your ears are buzzing or ringing for a little (or long...) while afterwards then the noise has been enough to do damage...

    I was watching another video on removing leaves and that guy recommends using two rakes so you can do a clamshell thing to lift them up and not have to bend over. Might consider doing that. Also, I use a corded leaf blower because most batteries have to be replaced every couple of years and then they stop selling that model of battery. Also, a corded leaf blower is quieter than a gas blower.

    One other point to be made to get along with neighbors is do not blow leaves into other neighbors yards, even if the leaves are falling off of neighbors trees into your yard. Obviously none of us can control where leaves fall especially when a strong wind comes along. I have a tree that drops a lot leaves into my yard and my neighbors yard. I also have a neighbor on the other side of me that has a tree alot of leaves fall into my yard. So I end up with quite a bit of leaves to rake up. I am considering getting a leaf blower as I have a back condition and I am no longer supposed to do yard work because it hurts my back. I would never blow leaves into another neighbors yard but the neighbor who has leaves from my tree falling into their yard blows them under the fence because I guess she thinks if they came from my tree I should have them back, not sure why she does this. We have always got along, she knows about my back condition, but one day after I had finished raking near the fence she blew leaves into my yard. I asked her to please not do that, she apologized and proceeded to clean up the leaves without leaf blower. I figure she will just blow leaves under the fence when she is sure I am not home. I am not sure how many years this has been happening as I recently retired and I am out in my back yard more than when I was working. I wont make an issue over it any further. If leaves are blown back into my yard I will rake them up. For the most part she is a good neighbor. No need to ruin a good neighbor relationship over leaves. But good leaf blower etuquette is to not blow leaves in a neighbors yard. I dont do that to neighbors. I would appreciate the same consideration be extended to me.

    • @AdamHWoodhams
      @AdamHWoodhams  2 роки тому +1

      Absolutely @Debbie.
      As much as we may find these things frustrating it's just trees doing what trees do & it's not the fault of anyone so not much point in letting bad blood develop over it.

    How long could you use a cordless unit before needing to swap batts?

    • @AdamHWoodhams
      @AdamHWoodhams  5 років тому

      Depends on the unit & use so a bit hard to define Clive. I have a larger machine that I get over 20-minutes of solid run-time from on one charge. When you consider that you are not always blowing on full that means you'll get 30 to 45-min from it at least.

    Only watched half of it but excellent tutorial. Id say last but not least hell with the neighbors. Keep ur property nice. If you have a small yard then sure get a handheld. If not get an Echo 770 or a Stihl BR 600 backpack blower and make some noise! Personally i think its kind of funny when im running my Echo 8010 and some woman comes out to complain. Hey its not like im sitting there running the machine for no reason I'm making money. Imagine trying to rake out a flower bed or some other delicate area? Leaves loaded in the corner of houses under outdoor tables and other stuff. There's a reason we use these machines. Believe me if using a rake worked better people would use a 20 dollar rake instead of a 500 dollar leaf blower.

    • @AdamHWoodhams

    • @AdamHWoodhams
      @AdamHWoodhams  2 роки тому +1

      Hey Dawn, the actual dB level of battery machines is much lower, generally sub-85dB as opposed to over 95dB, but yes, the pitch of sound is higher so some folks may find that more intrusive despite technically being quieter.
